DRP
12:19 AM
Hi Experts,
Need to brainstorm as well on how to address this issue:
Error: EACCES: permission denied, open '/root/.config/truffle/config.json'
You don't have access to this file

Initially there was no file, I have tried creating it and giving it chmod full, but no go.
Tried with ROOT and same thing

@DRP perhaps it's trying to open it read-write and it's a read-only filesystem for some reason? (really reaching, here)

DRP
wouldnt chmod 777 cover that?
sorry for bringing this up here as it is more a Ethereum question, but at this time everyone is pretty much OOO I guess.
Oh well... just for reference I'll leave links here:

Kali linux on rapsberry Pi 4: I'll buy one, then I will also ask Kali question ! :D

9:35 AM
@Archemar Not asking a Kali question is also a valid option.

Well I could ask, but I won't be able to pretend to be a complete newbee. I've been installing Unixes for 30 years now ....

It makes all the senses! The smaller the computer, the easier it is to parkour away when the FBI kicks down your door...

9:57 AM
@Archemar Be sure to make plenty of spelling and grammatical mistakes. It's expected in a Kali question.

10:15 AM
@AndrasDeak Why would FBI kick down the door of a pentester?

I thought hackers' main activity was jumping out of windows while being shot at :P

@AndrasDeak I think you over-estimate the agility of the members of the penetration testing community. A hacker would probably use whatever OS the target system is running, which is unlikely to be Kali Linux.

aww, too bad ;)

10:50 AM
@AndrasDeak Depends what you mean by hacker. That's Hollywood usage, meaning someone who commits illegal acts.
That terms used to mean, and still does mean, at least among those less ignorant of culture and history, someone who enjoys working with and is presumably good at computers.
And, for example. the term Unix Hacker.
And...

Yeah, I'm aware. I meant the hollywood version, the one that necessitates posts like that ;)
or the guy the other day over on chat.SO who was asking weird basic questions about DNS spoofing, and when he was told that he should go away and learn things he said "I did kali linux before" :D
then doubled down saying "kali is my main os" to convince us

11:10 AM
@AndrasDeak chat.SO?

I meant chat.stackoverflow.com
the real issue was that the user's questions were completely off-topic in our language-specific room, but it was still amusing

2 hours later…
1:15 PM
@AndrasDeak That's a collection of rooms, not a room.
Or a chat site, if you prefer. I'm not sure what terminology to use to describe it.

I figured it's "out of town" from here on chat.SE which is why I wasn't more specific. It was the python room.

@AndrasDeak Ah ok. That's the one where they like to say "rhubarb" and "cabbage", isn't it?
Actually one of the more reasonable SO rooms, I think.

Yup :) We try.

1:39 PM
nice Dilbert BTW @FaheemMitha, I don't have suspenders, nor white beard, neither "powerfull" belly, yet I fullly agree I am "a condescending unix computer users"

@Archemar I think the "condescending" bit is optional.
@Archemar It's quoted in "In the Beginning Was The Command Line".

Command line for ever ! Altough one can use GUI to lauch xterm.

Does anyone know how to install the UFRII LT Printer Driver Ver.1.50 on a Raspberry Pi Zero? I'm trying to get a Canon LBP7110Cw printer to work with CUPS on a Raspberry Pi Zero.

7:03 PM
For some reason the dependencies won't install on the Pi.

7:22 PM
I mean I managed to get it mostly working, but it's the CUPS filter "pstoncapcpca" that's the problem.
I would ask this on the site, but due to the complex nature of this question, I think this question should be asked in the chat.
I could emulate a Linux computer that does support the driver, but that'd kinda be overkill.

7:50 PM
Ok, I'll do that.

tis Prime Day. What's the best 100+ Hz 1440p monitor that y'all know of?
Need to spend some of my money on something sweet and sexy

Kerberos is confusing the hell out of me for my use case. Specifically, who the client is my situation.
The machine my product is installed on has to act as a NFS server to serve CD/DVD media to VMs installed on that machine.
The VMs are thus NFS clients and are not interacted with by the actual user.
I'm not sure if my VMs are considered Kerberos clients, or if I can say that the NFS client utilies count as Kerberos-aware network services meaning they need to authenticate the actual user, rather than be authenticated themselves...
The graphic on this site varonis.com/blog/kerberos-authentication-explained makes it sound like the the NFS client utilities could count as Kerberos-aware services.
Or maybe our entire product should be considered and made Kerberos-aware...but the NFS exports would be exported with sec set to the varoius krb options....ugh

11:38 PM
So confused, but I think that the NFS client counts as a Kerberos client. Which I guess makes more sense than what I was thinking before...
