Is it legitimate to edit this (accepted) answer to be correct, or to note that it isn't correct? The author isn't even a user here so there's no way they can fix it. It would be fundamentally conflicting with the original intent, which is to be wrong in every particular.

@MichaelHomer If memory serves me well, accepted answers can be either deleted when there's enough downvotes, if we want to get rid of that one; or moderators should be able to convert it into a community wiki - and in that way editing should be much easier. But don't qw( me/on/that )

It's a hassle to be a landlord, for sure, but it also brings in money if you have a good lawyer with good contracts.

Rules of renting out:

1. sign the contract at their current flat/house (that way you can see how they've treated their current place)
