@Tshepang your grammar is obviously better than mine... if you think that my grammar needs correcting, instead of asking me to correct it, why don't you just go ahead? we have edit, and now allow new people to suggest edit's for a reason. That is unless of course you don't understand what I said enough to modify it and retain meaning.

Q: Linux package manager architecture

AkoI am looking for a guide on one of Linux Package manager architectures. For example apt-get (dpkg), or yum (rpm). I want to know how they manage the package list, file list, package versions and so on. I wonder if anyone could point me to some resource.

@MichaelMrozek @Gilles do you guys think this post should live? I personally think it's overreaching and vague... but the fact that it's been upvoted 3 times prevents me from deleting it out of hand.

@UnixandLinux what happened to this one? deleted?
@MichaelMrozek @xenoterracide often does unparseable/typo'ed posts, and I think I fixed a few of his posts. I just wish he'd re-read his posts after writing them. And no I'm not nit-picking; he just happens to be a repeat offender. Maybe he writes them too quick and moves on.

@xenoterracide I hope you are not taking offense (this is a sensitive issue for a lotta peopl). Also, I'm not sure if my grammar is superior.
@xenoterracide I think it's perfectly okay. Maybe someone did draw the architecture of any of the major package managers, in which case a link to such a diagram would be good.

Q: Why do we have only one migration destination?

TshepangThe only migration destination I found is UL meta (here). I say this because I saw that SO has five. Destinations I can think for are SO, SU, AU.

@Tshepang Gilles pointed out a duplicate, so the asker deleted it. I undeleted it and closed as a duplicate instead

Q: mdadm Raid5 gives spares missing events

Bastian EbelingHi, I succesfully builded up a raid5 array on debian testing (Wheezy). As the manpages and further tell, the array would be created as an out of sync array with just a new spare injected to be repaired. That worked fine. But after the rebuild process, I get daily messages on missing spares - but...

@xenoterracide It's a good question, it would be useful to someone designing or analyzing a package manager

ChrisInCamboOk I'm pulling my hair out over this one. @Tshepang not offense, just annoyance. I've looked at some of the posts you've criticized as having bad grammar, and wanted to ask. WTF is wrong with it? it'd just be easier if you went ahead and modified them. or in some cases, you told me, and it probably took you longer to tell me than make the correction.
I'm anti grammar/spelling nazi
or any nazi really
and I often type phonetically.

@xenoterracide did not mean to annoy... only meant to make the site better
phonetically?

Q: Converting text into ASCII/ISO-8859-1

Let_Me_BeI'm looking for some tool that can convert text, ideally from UTF-8 (but ISO-8859-2 and WINDOWS-1250 would be fine) into ASCII/ISO-8859-1? I have seen some online transliteration tools but I need something for the command line (and iconv is refusing to convert the file).

@Tshepang I'm ok with you making the site better... but saying my content sucks grammatically, without pointing out errors... well it might make it hard to figure out what exactly I'm doing wrong.
@Tshepang I'm no mind reader, I have no idea what you think is grammatically wrong in some cases, and in others... well if I put a comma in the wrong spot, don't you think you could just go ahead and deal with it

@xenoterracide u make me sound more harsh than I am
@xenoterracide I remember asking you to re-read ur posts, and that's in cases where I thought it was obvious to spot the errors.
