@DanHulme I think Security at OS level or firmware level "zero knowledge" encryption is essential, my comment is about if Security and Protection is relative and sometimes an illusion, in particular case, unlocked bootloader "seems" to be a "Security measure" but "when they want" they could access to "user data", so I wonder, OK default bootloader for noobs, but the ability to: a) Advanced users with a proof of "own device" contact the OEM, and the OEM remotely unlock bootloader without wipe the user data (If no remotely, physically with their OEM custom recovery for repairs), it exists (f…

I already told you there's no remote switch for the OEM to unlock the bootloader without wiping user data. You're trying to legally force the OEM to do something they can't do even if they want to.

Your goal to avoid having to trust the OEM is not realistic.

@beeshyams I btw managed to convince the author of AppOpsX to provide a "tracking free" version of the app. Now live in my repo, without that Umeng library :)

Looks interesting, arguing by the screenshots. Requires root, though.

But can do more than the build-in AppOps – e.g. decides between "read contacts" and "write contacts", where the "built-in" only has "access contacts".

Sometimes it's e.g. useful that ann app can add a new appointment, but should not read my calendar. Think e.g. of a booking app for trains, which could add departure/arrival.

Btw, managed that for several apps already. So some are in my repo with the same signature as their playstore pendants – but without ads/analytics :)

Several of those are meanwhile on their way into the official repo – due to the side-effect of suddenly matching the requirements for that #D As one maintainer put it once: my repo is a "stepping stone" for some apps to finally reach the "FOSS haven" :)

That's one more reason to promote your repo while answering (your repo having ad tracking free versions)- worth adding that piece of info in your profile where you linked the repo, IMO

@beeshyams Unfortunately, not all apps in my repo are tracker-free :( There are some shipping with multiple trackers even.

Of course, that fact is always pointed out: as AntiFeature, and in the library list.

@beeshyams as you're just around here: what makes you think this is not an answer?

Looks like an answer to me: OP wanted to change from °F to °C, and answer shows how it can be achieved. Maybe not an ideal solution – but starting with Android 6, some "locale" settings are made stupid (date format, for example, is always bound to the locale – so if you want a different date format, you must chose a different country). Might be the same for temp.

If you know a different approach (also for date/time format), it will be very welcome not only by me!
