For anyone else who is wondering what it is about - Xiaomi mi A1 Android one phone is on a good sale for next two days- $180 approximately and has uniformly good reviews except Camera (not bad , but not as good as claimed). But then I don't care for camera
@DanHulme- this is Android one phone- marriage between Google and Xiaomi. Pure stock Android , except for 3 apps . They had launched Android One earlier in India but it fizzled out and this is the next go at it
@beeshyams I recommended this phone to a relative who recommended it to a friend. I think between 10k-20k this is best one can buy if assured and swift Android updates is what you want (which seems a must given the critical vulnerabilities unearthed since last year). Furthermore, it is aesthetically pleasing, at least from front, (I must say, it reminds me of iPhone everytime :D) and the HW is competitive with other phones in same price segment.
Given the $180 deal and official TWRP (for root lovers) available, I think it would be a good choice.
@Firelord:Thanks for your views. Frankly, it is the price on flipkart that is making me think of buying this , less than 12K with SBI card :). Though current Moto X Play is about great and half and doing fine, I am looking at frequent updates plus root. Xposed till Oreo is another plus. Very tempted :).
Typo above Moto is year and half old. I did some cursory reading on internet and XDA and as usual it is a jungle of information (and misinformation ?). If you are familiar with details relating to rooting, being updates while being rooted (seems possible) and Magisk (sadly, not familiar with it and not sure if I need it), let me know so that I can ask. Others may know too but coming from you would be a big bonus
