@MonicaCellio these weigh 7.2 ounces for 5000. 1400 books will use 2800 staples, so 2800 staples * 7.2 ounces / 5000 staples * 1 pound / 16 ounces = 0.25 pounds. So, make that 403.5 pounds. :)

@IsaacMoses I was wondering whether you were going to go that direction or try to compute the total area of the inked portions and then look up ink volume per square foot or something. :-)
... So 1400 copies * 91635 characters * 1 / 30000 grains / charachter * 1 / 7000 pounds /grain = 0.6109 pounds (more than the staples!), bringing our total to 404.0629 pounds. Thanks for pointing that and the staples out. We were off by nearly a pound!
I'm planning to go to the printer tomorrow to order the books. Since i know nothing about paper weight, i think i'll just go with the default. It should be ready for pickup next week then. @MonicaCellio I'd appreciate whenever you can get back to me.
@Scimonster the default should be good. I sent email to my bank after our discussion (to find out how to do that), and as soon as I hear back I'll let you know.
To my surprise, my bank charges $40 (!) to do an international fund transfer. (I was expecting a percentage fee, like when you use a credit card with a different currency.) That's...suboptimal, given the amount involved. Paypal is dollars only (at least with personal accounts) and @Scimonster needs shekels; does anybody have any ideas? Google shows me ads for services but I don't know who's trustworthy with bank info.
