@Malachi It shouldn't be case-sensitive

@IsmaelMiguel it is on Chrome, I Copy Pasta'd your OP
I can look into it when I get home.

@Malachi I am aware of a bug on Chrome where the g flag doesn't work.

You copy pasta'd ?

But I've never heard about the i but

@IsmaelMiguel I am aware of a bug, it's Chrome.

2:50 PM
@Quill I have like 5 todo lists that bug me every couple of hours.....
@Mast hey hey hey

@Mast It worked fine at home. I'll try this firefox

@IsmaelMiguel g flag?

@Malachi If you do 'a string another string'.replace(/a/g, 'a') on Chrome, it won't work

@Malachi /g: global, we're talking regex, right?

The g at the end means global, which replaces everything

2:52 PM
oh I see

That's why I have 'a string another string'.replace(new RegExp('a', 'g'), 'a')
That way, it works

In JS, you can use the global flag, but in PHP, there's two functions replacing non global, and global

jamalised, ts, rsa

@Quill In PHP you just hope and pray it works.

@Malachi It doesn't work well with edits due to the time limit. It scraps the messages only once. Edits don't change the HTML, as far as I know.

2:53 PM
@EBrown Not really, PHP is easy, If you have bugs then you just need to learn to read past all the $ everywhere

@IsmaelMiguel it worked the last time I did it

@Malachi Because you got lucky. And edited before the 5 second interval

no.

Weird

RSA
rsa
I am going to take this into Nth Monitor

2:55 PM
@Quill PHP lacks any sort of major standard and consistency. I.e. str_replace, substr, strlen.

Go ahead
But RSA is case sensitive

32 messages moved from The 2nd Monitor

Monking (again)

Monking

@EBrown That doesn't mean you have bugs, it just means you either have to google the functions every now and then, or be very patient with your IDE autocomplete

2:58 PM
@Quill And in which cases is :: over -> used? Again, very ambiguous. If I have to spend more time Googling features of the language/API over writing my code, there's something wrong with the language.

just have to figure out how to get it to run in all chat rooms....that would be funny!

@Malachi That would have to be a browser extention or a user script

it stops when I change rooms.
I have to get back to Work though, I have a bunch to do

Me too
I have a security hole to patch

@Malachi Userscript set to chat rooms in general
@EBrown I don't write OOP PHP, I rarely ever use ->, :: is for classes without instantiating a new class object.

3:00 PM
@Quill Incorrect. :: is for static methods.

@Quill We'll you'd think that true, but it greatly depends on context as well. And the whole $_GLOBALS thing irritates me as well.

@IsmaelMiguel TIL, right? :P

?
TIL?

@EBrown Globals are bad, I don't use them often
@IsmaelMiguel Today I learned

@Quill Quite my point, PHP is easy to learn and pick up, but it's not worth it.
I never use PHP for anything serious.
I'd rather use Python than PHP.
Even Perl than PHP.

3:01 PM
@Quill One thing I forgot to say: :: can be also used for constants

@EBrown Yeah, I had a full on PHP project going on, and I was probably a week of hard work off releasing it, then I came here, and I dropped it hard
Now, I can't decide which language to learn next

@Quill Try Corky
Nah, just kidding. Try PHP OPcodes
Or assembly

@Malachi, I made an edit to your custom-sql-statement post, feel free to roll it back if you feel that way
I was going to start doing asm, but, I have to update my OS, and Xcode, and with my near dial-up internet, It'd take too long

Then you are screwed

@Quill I will look into that when I am at home. I have played a little with them, but I could learn lots more.
@Quill looks good, thank you
don't forget there is a room just for Javascript libraries

 Web Development

Everything Web

3:11 PM
Totally forgot about it :/

2 hours later…
4:56 PM
I am trying to keep it alive
