@rolfl so, your predictions - is CR's first election going to beat Ubuntu election 4? we already have more votes than Math election 4 BTW :)
> 5,313 voters were eligible, 2,137 visited the site during the election, 1,575 visited the election page, and 437 voted
...with fewer visits
Ubuntu:
> 6,587 voters were eligible, 2,025 visited the site during the election, 1,549 visited the election page, and 680 voted;

@Mat'sMug I would like it to.
I have been drumming up support, tweeting, etc.
I always want it to be better... ;-) I am goal oriented.
The voting has slowed down a lot, though.

I noticed
I was expecting ~1K votes
like, by now

I think it is all about expectation setting..... we are a big site, it is just a case of whether we are a big big big site, or just a big big site
Regardless of where it goes, we are a top-10 site on the exchange in terms of election turnout
3
go to results 2/2
We are larger in terms of visits and voters for both the unix and gis sites, even though we have fewer badges, because we have only 1 election, they have multiple.
stats too.... which makes us clearly top 10
It is without doubt the biggest ever beta-graduation election by a very long way
5

Wow you really think so huh!

3:26 AM
@Phrancis Can you see results 2/2 here?
12 mins ago, by rolfl

Yeah saw that

That is the number of constituent badges awarded.
we now havd 602 or something.

Running total, i.e., throughout the life of the sites?

Yes
So, move Code Review up to that spot..... and look at all the sites, and how code review iwll compare.... and the names of the "smaller" sites.

That's crazy
Can't wait to see the refreshed data on Sunday

3:29 AM
yup... also, for many of the sites, they have had multiple elections to award badges, so, the four sites larger than Code Review, unix, stats, scifi, and gis, all have multiple elections, and their biggest election is smaller than ours
With 623 votes at their largest, we can also probably beat english (we beat them already in terms of visitors to the election page).

Very nice

619 votes beats gaming too.
I don't think we'll make the 680 needed to beat ubuntu
but maybe
but I suspect the 7th spot in terms of sites-with-the-biggest-elections.

Sweet, that's quite impressive (hardly surprising though :)

@Phrancis we've come a long, long way

@rolfl What are your plans now that you'll have a bit more free time after tomorrow?

3:39 AM
@Phrancis My parents have just moved to Canada (arrived last wednesday), they are moving in to a house, etc. It all needs a bunch of work, and they need to be settled in.
I am going on holiday too (literally) for a week at least (off to a resort - limited internet).
My wife is starting a publishing business, and needs help.

Where did they move from? South Africa, or were they in the UK?

South Africa
My work has been suffering, and JDOM too.
And, it is hard to express how much time I have put in to Code Review both for my own benefit, and the site as a whole.

I can hardly imagine

I have had so much fun so it is hard to separate how much is volunteer/play time, and how much is "not fun", but I need to see the fun parts again. Behind the scenes it has been stressful "negotiating" with the powers-that-be.

@rolfl your wife probably knows how much time you put into CR. I know mine does ;-)

3:43 AM
I have three objectives at the moment, though, in terms of "on the side" things:
1. I am going to get maven to use the later versions of JDOM.
2. I am going to build a dining room table.
3. I am going to get my folks settled.
When those things are done, and if the site "needs me" (which it likely will not), then I will consider running again for a mod position.
Until then, I expect I will go relatively quiet for a month or two, but will be back with the september rush again to answer questions
My wife has a series of books lined up for publishing, and that's going to be a team effort.

Is she doing that part time or full time? (publishing)

part time - she teaches young readers,w ith a focus on those struggling particularly with dyslexia.
She's written a series of early readers that is aimed at that market.
Today's "lean startup" concepts mean I will likely be doing a lot of menial things - mailing, sorting, proofing, etc.
if we make any money on it I will be surprised, but the experience will be neat

14 hours later…
6:01 PM
hm, only 625 people voted in the final phase. Is there a way to know how many voted in the primaries?

6:12 PM
Not as far as I know.

@janos Nice, 625 is a magic number.....
as for the primaries, no, other than taking the maximum vote count for any one candidate.

We should aim for 632, 635, 637, 638, 644, 649, 653, 655, 656, 665, 671, 673, 680, 683 or 694 votes. Those are happy numbers.
@rolfl which does not necessarily have to be the total number of voters. As some people might not have voted for all candidates.

I know, but it's the best I can think of.
625 is more votes than the biggest english election,.....

6:49 PM
11 minutes left, right?

@Mat'sMug 71 minutes left, right?

Aww... me and Zulu time never quite got along. Especially with DST...

71 minutes left.

helpful hint...... if you click here:
See the UTC time top-right of the drop-down?

I noticed that today for the first time. How long has that been there?

6:52 PM
"forever".

you're kidding me?

Nope. I remember it from before the black top bar

Jul 5 at 21:35, by Simon André Forsberg
We need mods who can read. ;-)
Is it too late to withdraw? :P

Taking that question seriously, no.

@SimonAndréForsberg technically, no. In practice.... you'd probably disappoint 500-some voters :-)

7:05 PM
I ain't withdrawing.
@Mat'sMug you think that many are voting for me?

I have it on good authority, that less than 1000 people voted for you, @Simon.

@rolfl lol

I have it on good authority that less than 1000 people voted for you too, @rolfl ;)

@SimonAndréForsberg I think you just might be #3 - assuming Jamal and 200 take the first 2 spots

I think you'll be number 3

7:07 PM
IDK, this isn't the primaries

the STV thing can go "wrong". I worry.

My prediction: Jamal, 200_success, Mat's Mug, myself, janos (yes, janos will be a moderator. Within a few months Stack Exchange will realize their mistake and bring in janos)
@rolfl What can possibly go wrong?

In that order?

in that order I think, yes.
or perhaps janos first and myself later.
or perhaps 200 before Jamal
or perhaps another of those 120 different permutations that are possible.

@SimonAndréForsberg I keep doing the I know that you know that I know that you know thing.

7:10 PM
the what?

I suspect that a lot of people may vote for their 3-rd choice candidate first, because "it's obvious that Janmal and 200_success will get in, no need to vote for them".
that's one "bad case"
Anyway, I thing the results are going to generate a lot of conversation ;-)

Nothing is obvious.
I am looking forward to analyzing the first choice, second choice and third choice data.

I am listening to shrek music ..... seems appropriate.

@rolfl 200_success and whom? ;-)

So, @Mat'sMug. In less then an hour you might be elected Code Review moderator with a blue diamond next to your name. How do you feel?

7:13 PM
@Jamal Janmal! ?

Come on @Jamal, Jamalize it!

I can't find such a user on CR...

@SimonAndréForsberg probably the same as you do!

@Mat'sMug I should have had @rolfl asked you the question instead...

For one thing, I don't feel like working

7:15 PM
So, Simon, in less than an hour you may have the cumulative burden of responsibility for a site of 60,000 people that are trusting you.... how do you feel?
Theme music for this:

Just get that blue/black pen ready to sign the agreement.

@rolfl happy that I'm not alone in it!

should have written a script to scrape the list of voters so that we can harass those who abstained

@janos SEDE ?

7:18 PM
SEDE's probably not very up to date

We can harass them on Sunday ;-)

Okay, I'm going to test it in its final state with both rooms. Duck and cover.

grab the users that have the badge, match with all users on the site, sort by reputation descending, check who doesn't have the badge

Sweet, it works

7:55 PM
some regulars haven't voted but were recently seen. weird :-/

in The 2nd Monitor, 6 secs ago, by Undo
Results will be posted in this room (The 2nd Monitor) first, followed by the election room.

they better kick it into gear

well, everybody's free to abstain

7:56 PM
Waiting...

Congrats @SimonAndréForsberg @200_success @Jamal @Mat'sMug !

@janos I really hope we will get you on board as well in the near future.

8:13 PM
No worries about that. Besides, the site community is running itself very well with 3 mods, so with 4 it will be a walk in the park, no need for a +1 ;-)

There's always need for a +1

it is true that 1 European vs 3 American timezone is a bit unbalanced...

I still have stars here!!!

8:55 PM
on the first page of constituents, many interesting guest voters, high rep SO users, and moderators of other SE communities. Nice!

9:07 PM
I am kinda waiting on some official statement on meta.
2

^^ that

who wants to prod the lurking CMs?

they're probably typing up the meta right now
and/or the emails

It's quite interesting that this has gone so similar to the primaries, btw.

I'm still at work anyway, so they can take their time, won't be on for another 4-5 hours
@Vogel612 does that make us a predictable community?

9:11 PM
not sure.. maybe it makes us an intelligent community
because that means people voted in a way that reflects the primaries so well

The CM's have been prodded.
2
They are working on something, I am sure.

still got some stars in here :D

If it's the last thing I do as a moderator I will get that done!.... right, @Pops ?
3

What are you making me do now?

Oh, some other mods are being appointed on other sites too.
6 mins ago, by Vogel612
I am kinda waiting on some official statement on meta.

9:13 PM
Just a few more minutes.

I am sure pops is just trying to find a nice way to say good riddance to me that is also honest ... ;-)

@Pops I wouldn't mind some coffee. :-) I'll wait.

The next time we're both in a Stack Exchange office, I'll be happy to make you an espresso.
4

@Pops for the meta or the mail? :)

@SimonAndréForsberg You have to accept the position again?

9:15 PM
nevermind, just got the mail! (@Mat'sMug)

@Pops :D
My top bar diamond even disappeared for a second.

Not for me yet. Ugh, caching.

Damn Chrome

9:18 PM
@Jamal it's not chrome... definitely not chrome..
#worksonmymachine :D

Q: 2015 Community Moderator Election Results

Jon EricsonCode Review's first moderator election has come to a close, the votes have been tallied, and the 4 new moderators are: Please thank them for volunteering, and share your assistance and advice with them as they learn the ropes! @Pops I would love to visit SEO!

I mentioned something like this in the mod room earlier, but I suppose I should say it publicly too:
rolfl, Jamal and 200_success were some of the best mods you could have asked for. Nearly every day I find myself wondering how I can make the community/mod relationship on other sites a little more like the one you've had here for the past year+. It's impossible to measure exactly how much better they've made CR by being the mod team, but I'm certain it's "a lot." None of which is to discount the fact that you CR people are amazing to begin with!

Okay, now it has updated for me.

9:22 PM
@rolfl Indeed, much of my last week has been spent on playing musical diamonds. And gently encouraging the spread of Jamalization of questions (as a practice if not a term).
4

@Pops can we get a pin for the man post

(just a test to see if chat has updated)

@Malachi Very well!
@SimonAndréForsberg @Mat'sMug congratulations and welcome!
And to the rest of the candidates, welcome to the other club I'm a member of, People Who Have Lost Stack Exchange Elections. You all really were a strong field.

ooh, I got the pawah!

@Pops thank you

9:26 PM
Dues can be paid directly to me, in cash, preferably in small, unmarked bills...
2

@Mat'sMug Where are you?! :)

Boo, I like reading chat rooms, and I can't read the Teacher's Lounge.

@Undo school's in session! :)

@Pops I only carry large unmarked bills....sorry

@Malachi Buddy! Pal. Allow me to upgrade you to premium membership, Mr. Club Vice President.

9:30 PM
:)
they say monopoly on them though, they aren't unicorn bills.... do you know where the nearest exchange is?

You didn't say what kind of exchange ;)

my other stash is Canadian, that is just about as good as paper...

@Malachi Down the stack a ways?

lol

@Undo how was that.. "don't share links outside"???

9:34 PM
@Vogel612 Hrm?
TL exists, that's public. It's room #4, that's public.

it was more of a jest..
while I'm happy with how it played out, I'd still have loved to be able to access this room, just to see how it feels

9:48 PM
where is Stack Exchange Office?
there is one in Denver?

Yup. Mostly sales people out there. Same for London. HQ is in New York City.
13
A: Is it possible to go on a tour of the Stack Exchange headquarters?

PopsYou are now welcome to virtually tour the NYC office at http://s.tk/NYCTour, courtesy of Google Maps!

@Pops I noticed that...lol
which office are you located in? I heard you were offering espressos ?

I'm not. I work from my home.
Jamal failed to request the full terms and conditions document that was associated with my free espresso offer.
5

Moving to New York? Alright, I'll pack my bags.
