Hi! A friend of mine asked me if there is an app to automatically factory reset the device after X number of failed screen unlock attempts? I know it is quite simple if the device is rooted but they cannot afford to root. So, does anybody here knows a solution?

@Firelord I think some MDM apps (such as KNOX) can do this. It's a really bad idea to enable stuff like this because it's a new attack against your phone. If a kid gets hold of your phone and plays with the lock screen, bye bye data. If you get a bit tipsy and fat-finger the PIN/pattern a few times without counting, bye bye data. If someone gets hold of your phone and knows this'll happen, they can hold your data to ransom without even stealing the phone.
I used to work for a company that had this policy and people were going into IT every week to get their phones set up again after resetting them by accident.
In one case it was the employee's spouse: they had the same phone, and didn't realise they'd picked up the wrong one until it was too late.

Thank you Dan. I already warned my friend but they are nonetheless eager to get their hands on such app.
