Hey, why can't I edit this answer: android.stackexchange.com/a/48408/231061
The section on MAC addresses is blatantly wrong, I want to remove the entire paragraph

@AdamWilliams You're right, the MAC address isn't visible to the cell network. You can suggest an edit, but removing the paragraph completely would probably not be seen as preserving the author's intent.

I don't think I can suggest an edit though?
All I can do is share
The annoying thing is people are quoting it around with "Your cell network knows when you're tethering!" and seem to be citing that answer..

How can I chat and not be logged in? :P

@AdamWilliams logging into chat and logging into the main site are separate

I'm 99% sure I'm logged into the site

well, that's odd

Maybe a rep thing?

I was under the impression that you should be able to suggest edits right away, even if you didn't have the association bonus.

Is there another way I can suggest an edit? Meta post?

Regardless, I don't think an edit is the right thing to do here. If you disagree with the post, get some more rep on the site and then vote it down.
oh, I know why: it's because the question has a historical lock; I didn't notice earlier

It's fine that it has historical relevance and the question isn't on-topic
what's not fine is that it's still discoverable, and the accepted answer is wrong

Q: Revision of answers on locked questions

Adam WilliamsThere's a question on the site concerning tethering detection (on the part of mobile carriers). The accepted answer ranks highly for searches on this topic and is often cited on sites like reddit. The section on detection via MAC address is blatantly wrong and suggests a misunderstanding of netw...
