Q: Gallery of custom styles and/or scripts for the top-bar

philsSo the new top-bar is... divisive. Lots of people are mentioning custom style sheets (or scripts) in order to improve it. If we could gather all such things into a gallery of sorts, I'm sure lots of people would be grateful. Please include a screenshot, so that people can see what the effect wil...

Immediately picked the userstyle, added some tiny adjustments... much better now. Still missing some of the old functionality (like the integrated dashboard). Guess I'll play with the other postings during the next days...

This 919 thing is really popular lately: android.stackexchange.com/search?q=is%3Aquestion+919 Unfortunately, no accepted answers so far, except on an SO question: stackoverflow.com/questions/19652367/….

yeah
I asked Izzy to post his link as an answer so we can upvote it and the problem becomes solved

10:28 AM
@DanHulme Done. Good idea. Now it just needs a single upvote, and we can VTC the others.

@Izzy Done. 2 upvotes now

happy Easy Rep Day :-)

10:58 AM
@Nezam You might get better luck posting that in one of Server Fault's rooms. It's not really related to anything we'd be interested in here.

@geffchang @DanHulme Thanks :) A typical win-win situation #D

and suddenly, there's a 920 error: android.stackexchange.com/questions/58334/… LOL

a sequel!
these are annoying to close, because the search facility in the VTC dialog doesn't seem to search for numbers

I just do a regular search on a different browser tab. :)

yeah, that's like an extra five clicks
I don't want to spend all day closing duplicates

11:08 AM
Error increased (who did the +1 here?). Now it's a 920...

welcome to the party

Haha. Looks like it's a valid error code though

I've now got to spend the rest of the day installing apps to see if I can get the first 921

I'm surprised I had an answer for an older question.

stupid error codes
every error message should tell you what you have to do to fix the problem
that's the first thing they teach you at error message school

11:11 AM
You might have a dialog box that's too big too fit on a mobile screen.

@geffchang the whole text doesn't have to be on the screen at once

11:24 AM
This is an example from one of my apps.

12:18 PM
@DanHulme LOL
@DanHulme Looks like attending that is not mandatory (anymore)...
@DanHulme +1.000.000 to that! That's the way it should be!

Q: Can we blacklist some domains to reduce spam?

Dan HulmeWe get a lot of spam answers (and I've just seen a spam edit) with links to domains selling dubious software. There are a few websites that claim to offer tutorials for recovering data from a broken phone, but the "tutorial" is an advert for PC software. The links are added indiscriminately by n...

1 message moved to Trashcan

@eldarerathis what is the purpose of Trashcan?

@BryanDenny I think it's for moving messages once they're too old to delete

hm, didn't know that existed...

4:31 PM
Grobi inside? Sesam Street?
(ya know, the blue one who lives in a, well, trashcan)

the Grouch

Grover in english
but yeah :)

Grover? how long has he been called that?
I'm sure it was the Grouch when I was little

Grover, also known as Grover Monster, is a Muppet character on the popular television show Sesame Street. Self-described as lovable, cute and furry, he is a monster who almost never uses contractions when speaking or singing. Grover was originally performed by Frank Oz, who provided the character's voice regularly from his earliest appearances until 2001. Eric Jacobson began performing Grover in 1998; he has performed the character regularly since 2002, although Oz still performs him occasionally. Origins A prototype version of Grover appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show in a Christmas Eve...
the grouch is the other
yes
Oscar

Oscar the Grouch is a Muppet character on the television program Sesame Street. He has a green body (during the first season he was orange), has no visible nose, and lives in a trash can. His favorite thing in life is trash, as evidenced by the song "I Love Trash". A running theme is his compulsive hoarding of seemingly useless items. "The Grouch" aptly describes his misanthropic interaction with the other characters, but also refers to his species. His birthday, as noted by Sesame Workshop, is on June 1. The character is performed by Caroll Spinney, and has been performed by him since th...

4:35 PM
beat me
hehe
He said grobi which made me look up the translation, grobi is grover

makes sense
but it seems like living in trashcans is pretty mainstream on Sesame Street

@BryanDenny: Moving a message into Trashcan just helps to de-clutter the transcript, mostly

yeah, look how uncluttered the transcript is now :-p

That user was basically shotgunning his question into a bunch of unrelated chat rooms, so I figured I'd get rid of it
@DanHulme: Hey man, I'd much rather read about Sesame Street
Can't beat the classics

This chat was brought to you by the letters A, S, and E
and the number 4.4

4:41 PM
@eldarerathis ah, I can't see the history of what was moved
ops
nevermind
I just realized you can click where it say 1 message... was doing the drop down to the left looking for history

@BryanDenny: Yeah, that'll take you over to Trashcan, and you can see the message revisions there

Now with the top bar, where is the easy chat access link?
Also privileges are only available over the help center

click stack exchange logo
the chat is beside of the SE you are viewing

@BryanDenny ahh ty
Hmm and where are the network-wide "Top questions"?

in the body of the page

4:55 PM
@Flow: Yeah, look at the right sidebar of the front page of the site

@Flow Left: open the logo
And to make it look better:
Gosh, why does the pic not work...
Ah...
Stays on top with that one, when you scroll :)

@Izzy Nice, will give it a try

Now I mostly miss the integrated Dashboard. But that would require a UserScript. Ideas for that (and implentations for Chrome) are linked there :)

5:11 PM
And while the black bar definitly was an eye-catcher, it also definitely was too distracting...
This gray MultiCollider snuggly fits in on ASE, DBA, SO, AskUbuntu, and probably also others (couldn't test them all).

LOL! From the blog: The tab of this page reads “A New Top Bar f…” in my browser. Says it all :)

@DanHulme too late. Here comes the 921, including how to solve it: androidpit.de/update-probleme-play-store-error-code-921
In case it pops up here, the usual two variants: clear cache/delete data, or remove/re-add the account on the device...

Updated the UserStyle: added some comments to make "personal adjustments" easier. Now you can also switch to a "colorized" SE logo if you prefer :) userstyles.org/styles/95794/…
