@ff524 When I was a PhD student we (my advisor and our group) were particularly used to work across deadlines, sometimes submitting right at the deadline, sometimes right after, as postdeadline submissions. Nowadays I tend to submit conference papers and abstracts 1-2 months before the deadline: I honestly don't miss the older days.

@MassimoOrtolano My advisor's wife once told me that often she'll suggest to him that they go out to a movie or something in the evening, and he'll say "I can't, I'm waiting for my student to send me a draft of our paper, which has a deadline tonight, for comments"

Now I feel guilty every time :(

@ff524 For the sake of his marriage, he should fix a deadline for you much earlier than that of the conference ;-) Jokes apart, submitting earlier is really a stress-reliever (apart that one starts to wonder if by submitting 2 months earlier the organizers would forget about your paper). At the time I thought it natural to arrive at the deadline; now I think: why would we work like that?

well, I just never have things ready as early as I would like :(
