@eykanal Yes, that would be good to have here or as comment how you dealt with the situations. For instance, I'm thinking about the one where you advisor asked you to work on another research project: did you do it? If so, did you have problems? Did you actually publish the paper? Did it impact on your main grant?
I've never been myself in the exact situation, but I can imagine that some students will, and it would be good for them to have the answer "I've been there, and in the end I regret/don't regret" ...
