@skullpetrol I don't think we'll have one this year.

I don't have any news, though. I'm just speculating.

@snailcar I worry that it would just be another opportunity for drama instead of a fun community event

Q: Can I offer a bounty to get ELL users to write an answer explaining why my "downvoted answers" (will be linked) are wrong and how I can improve them?

AIQSo I come here everyday, like many of you, to learn and improve. I don't just ask questions, I take the time to answer some too from time to time. I also contribute to the community by commenting, editing, and reviewing things. Some of my answers have been downvoted (and I believe rightly so). ...

Q: Correct error in perfect tense

confunglishI'm self-studying English and in an exercise I'm asked to correct the errors in perfect tense of a series of sentences. One of them is the following Supposing they would have got married, wouldn't the day have come when they got bored with each other? The solution is: Supposing they had...

I think the issue isn't to do with you posting answers to genuine questions which may have an affiliation to your product (as you say "Post good, relevant answers, and if they happen to be about your product or website, so be it.") Posting fake questions in order to then answer them yourself, in order to promote your product doesn't seem to adhere to the Code of Conduct though. — Bee Oct 30 at 16:37

J. DoeBusiness Insider claims that China's Three-Gorge's Dam will slow down Earth's rotation: Raising 39 trillion kilograms of water 175 meters above sea level will increase the Earth’s moment of inertia and thus slow its rotation. However, the effect would extremely small.  NASA scientists calcula...

@M.A.R. @snailcar @ColleenV @userr2684291 @CowperKettle Can I ask, if you all think the bounty thing won't work?
Oh I guess I can't use a bounty like that.

@AIQ Which, uh, oh! Well, no one has ever used the bounty system that way, so I don't think it'd work.

AIQ
Ah well, I tried.

@AIQ It's the wrong tool to get an opinion on your answers because, well, it's called a bounty! When someone looks at the "bounties" tab, they're looking for good, probably challenging questions with the high rep award as a bonus
If you ask on meta "how can I improve my answers", it's almost guaranteed to get a positive reception and useful responses. If you ask "downvoters explain", it might come off as complaining and the reception would probably be mixed.

AIQ
Yes, that is also what J.R. suggested I do - ask on Meta. I will give that a try.
