@ColleenV The vitamin has been hyped somewhat in the USA in the last decade
The lower normal limit may turn out to be 20 ng/mL, not the current notch of 30 ng/mL
@ColleenV Not only that! Ideally, you need to check also your calcium, magnesium, ionized calcium, phosphorus, creatinine and PTH - just to exclude some rare interactions that may lead to suboptimal vitamin D metabolism.
I checked some, and have found that my magnesium is a bit below the normal range.
> Holick's role in drafting national vitamin D guidelines, and the embrace of his message by mainstream doctors and wellness gurus alike, have helped push supplement sales to USD936 million in 2017. That's a ninefold increase over the previous decade. Lab tests for vitamin D deficiency have spiked, too: Doctors ordered more than 10 million for Medicare patients in 2016, up 547 percent since 2007, at a cost of $365 million. About 1 in 4 adults 60 and older now take vitamin D supplements.

@CowperKettle You know, even if it's just a placebo, my parents have felt better and haven't gotten flus/colds as often, and it's not too expensive, so I am OK with it :)
I read something once that said Americans have the most vitamin-rich pee in the world because we over-fortify our foods

6 hours later…
9:03 AM
@ColleenV Russians are catching up fast.
My brother has a whole galaxy of vitamins.
And I now have a bunch too
And he persuaded my dad to take a vit D + omega-3 supplement
)))

1 hour later…
10:23 AM
@CowperKettle The only supplement I take is water. I drink lots of water.

5 hours later…
3:25 PM
@JasperLoy How much?
I drink 3 to 4 liters a day if I don't control myself
Maybe you should check your vitamin D level too.

4:18 PM
@CowperKettle Oh, that's a lot. Yeah I drink about 4 litres every day. The rest comes from the food itself. I notice you like to use American spelling. I like to use British spelling.

4:55 PM
@JasperLoy I have a 1-liter glass pitcher and I control my self by only filling it twice a day
Hence, 2 liters each day
I've been reading a lot about vitamin D and how it might help in depression
Very intersting, on PubMed
Reviews and studies
I discovered that my magnesium is a little bit below the norm, so today I went into a pharmacy and bought a 50 mg Mg + 5 mg B6 supplement
I took the supplement at 14:00 and dropped dead asleep in half an hour time.
Only crawled out of bed 5 hours later
Still feeling weak
I heard that in the US you cannot just walk into a lab and order a blood test
This is so odd
Hard to believe
Word of the day: nose pads (they hold the glasses)

5:20 PM
I'm not reading all stuff related to vitamin D, )))

5:31 PM
*now

@CowperKettle Why do you need to control yourself? Drinking water is fine.
OMG, the 2018 15-inch Macbook Pro with Touch Bar is sooooo expensive.

2 hours later…
7:11 PM
@JasperLoy Apple has very good refurbished equipment and it can save some money.

2 hours later…
8:48 PM
@CowperKettle Voldemort could use some

9:28 PM
@ColleenV I heard some things about how dust would get trapped in the second generation butterfly keyboard and render the keyboard unusable. But I know the problem has been fixed in the newest models.
