Yes, just as I was attempting to propose that laws become a synonym redirected to rules. However, there is a user with far more rep than sense and awareness who keeps removing new tags without considering that another experienced user might have done it for a very good reason, like creating new tags. — Nij 3 mins ago
I guess this was related to edits of this post.
@Nij You should probably notice that removing the tag from the question did not change the fact that your synonym suggestion still exists.
You can see it in the list of all synonyms and users with sufficient score in rules tag can up-vote or down-vote the suggestion here.
Still, I would think that it would be preferable to discuss the synonym on meta first.
Since the synonym between laws and rules is unrelated to this meta question, I'd suggested that we could continue this discussion elsewhere (if needed), perhaps in chat. — Martin 15 secs ago
Although probably I do not have much more to add to what I already wrote above.
Some tags have been discussed in this chatroom in the past. The user which seems to be most active in tag-related issues both here and on meta seems to be ᴍᴀsᴛᴇʀᴍɪɴᴅ_ᴇᴅ.

@MartinSleziak re: laws and rules looks fine, though i am surprised it hasn't been addressed already given the number of questions on the laws and this meta post. if other sports refer to their set of rules as anything other than rules, we should consider synonymizing that, where necessary.

Thanks for the reply. I hope @Nij will look here in chat and see your message - since they proposed this tag synonym.
When I looked at the list of synonyms I was a bit surprised to see that world-records -> records needs votes to get approved, since the list says that the creator of the synonym is a moderator.
