Q: Manhattan island marathon swimming pace

user1451How can the winning pace in this weekends Manhattan swim be higher than the world record 1,500m pace?

Q: Which kind of nutrition and by which schedule after marathon?

hhhAfter long distance-running I have noticed right nutrition is extremely important. When I am training for muscles, I eat protein-loaded diet such as whey and meat. When I do under 10km running, a banana is many times enough -- no pain and feels very good after cold swimming. When I do over 10-20k...

The Heat cooked the Spurs well done last night...

@edmastermind29 yeah, with Mario Chalmers doing his best Rajon Rondo

user46190
@waxeagle yup. pretty close for 3 qtrs...then, boom. a, what was it, 33-5 run?

@edmastermind29 yeah
I was watching the gamecast on my phone and was pretty nervous there for the first 3 quarters. When they were up 10 at the end of the third though I was pretty sure they'd pull ito ut

user46190
@waxeagle speaking of pulling it out, how did Tony Parker get that shot down in game 1?

@edmastermind29 I just watched that...holy wow

user46190
1:45 PM
@waxeagle the frame by frame shots were particularly amazing....one frame, finger still on...next frame, finger off and the light regarding the end of the shot clock goes off....that's nuts.

user46190
@waxeagle he had a crazy shot playing golden state earlier in the playoffs....

@edmastermind29 the one where he hurt his thigh?

user46190
@waxeagle did he hurt his thigh on that play?

user46190
not sure if he did or not

user46190
a nice gif of the shot

1:48 PM
@edmastermind29 yep
got a pretty good bruise from it IIRC

user46190
@waxeagle im sure it would hurt ha.

@edmastermind29 yeah, definitely
hello future NBA art print:

user46190
@waxeagle nobody pays to see tiago splitter!

user46190
@waxeagle that block was nuts....i saw that lebron had the block of the year, so i rewound the dvr and found it.....bam.

@edmastermind29 The Hibbert-Melo block was pretty darn huge too (and there is an equally good art print worthy shot of that one out there too).

user46190
1:53 PM

though I'm not sure Hibbert had to elevate at all to block melo

user46190
@waxeagle lol. Lebron had to get up there...not that Splitter can elevate himself.

@edmastermind29 true enough, if he could we wouldn't be talking about the block of the eyar

user46190
@waxeagle there was a cool slow motion vid where they show Splitter coming in for the dunk, and all you see next is Lebron's hand coming up and put a hand on it.

@edmastermind29 lol that would be quiet amazing :)

Q: What is the motivation behind using the 2-3-2 (vs. 2-2-1-1-1) series format for the NBA Finals?

edmastermind29Each conference round in the NBA playoffs is a best-of-seven series played in a 2-2-1-1-1 format...or the team with home-court advantage hosts games 1, 2, 5, and 7 while their opponent hosts games 3, 4, and 6. However, the NBA Finals is a best-of-seven series is played in a 2-3-2 format...or the...

@Mod: can somebody create a tag and add it to this question: sports.stackexchange.com/q/2765/1455

@JacobJanTuinstra you want equipment

@waxeagle No, I want racket, applicable for tennis, squash and badminton

yeah, it should get both really
k, just added it to several others where it's applicable
I'll add it to some more when the front page turns over

Q: How can I get my overhand throw to properly turn over?

wax eagleI've been playing disc golf for several years and have experimented with an overhand (or tomahawk) shot for several years. However, the shot has always been inconsistent for me. It always gets the required height, but rarely achieves the distance I want on it. I know that there is a way to get it...

Q: Different Badminton Grip and Weight Types

Jacob Jan TuinstraOver the years I've used many badminton rackets, with a wide variety of code numbering placed at the beginning of the shaft: G4/3U G2/2U Can somebody give me detailed information about the meaning of those codes?

8:38 PM
@waxeagle equipment is something totally different to racket.

@JacobJanTuinstra yep, working on a meta post on the subject. mods disagree with you at the moment, we'll see if we can change some minds here

@waxeagle I'm new here, sorry to intervene like this......

@JacobJanTuinstra no problem. You're motivating me to address and issue I've had for a bit and needed to respond ot.

A: Grounds of Tag Creation

wax eagleTags should be created when they are necessary. No more and no less. Tags should be specific where possible, and we should let the auto-pruning mechanism take care of tags rather than lump things together haphazardly. A good example of this is the current use of the equipment tag. This is used...

@edmastermind29 you know your way on the internet. Please make sure your answer counts. Are you a badminton player by any chance?

@edmastermind29 sorry I didn't respond to that tag meta post sooner, I didn't see it the first go round, but I feel it's entirely misguided.

8:53 PM
@waxeagle Racket is written as racket and not racquet I hope?

@JacobJanTuinstra they would be synonimized. but we'd have to choose a spelling, I don't have a personal preference. Generally American spellings are preferred
researching it appears racket could be used with no trouble for all racket sports...though perhaps squash and racquetball might object :).
interesting reading

Did it, done it,
I'm a bit of a Googler myself!!

user46190
9:09 PM
@waxeagle no problem. thing is...my point, as i commented, was to reasonably scope tags...not control what crops up and declare it unsuitable.

user46190
@JacobJanTuinstra don't be sorry. this is exactly what this site needs.

user46190
@JacobJanTuinstra i am not a badminton player...just an opportunity for me to research and help you out. hence, the references (vs. personal experience)

Can I keep on throwing questions? Do realize that some are rhetorical.....

@JacobJanTuinstra make sure they are good and answerable :)

user46190
@JacobJanTuinstra sure....as long as they're deemed constructive. we do allow subjective questions for more information

9:14 PM
@edmastermind29 I get that. and reasonable is good, I just think it' been a bit too tight right now.
we're heading towards large, general, useless tags
and that's not good

user46190
@waxeagle i can't disagree. i'll back away from touching tags for the time being...you're onto something.

user46190
@waxeagle as we grow, these tags do need to become specific, but not unreasonably and useless specific.

@edmastermind29 I think we allow for more specificity when things are either shared by multiple sports (say raquets, bats, balls) and deal with less for small sports (like just using technique on my disc golf question0.
in the long run, more specificity is better than less, but in the short, some generic tags might be good.
@edmastermind29 mass retags are painful. very painful.

My rep. isn't the way its accounted for on webapps.se, in the beginning

I've seen them happen in places with high volume (like prog.se) and it takes a long time and a lot of people. With the much lower volume here it might be even harder
@JacobJanTuinstra whatcha mean?
gotta dash good day all.

9:19 PM
If you have more then 200 rep elsewhere, then you start with 100. In the overview of the week I have 5

user46190
@waxeagle and tomahawk could be used for a type of dunk. this is another thing that's gonna be hard to get right....and getting right isn't as much of a concern vs. having reasonable tags grow. perhaps wicket falls in this category, but I was blinded by just mere mention of the word vs. talking about actual wickets...that's where I was going with that.

user46190
@waxeagle generic tags are catch-alls in my opinion

@edmastermind29 Need to go the bedbugs. Will drop by another time.

user46190
@JacobJanTuinstra absolutely. hope you feel welcome :). feel free to drop by anytime.

user46190
For example, this question and this question isn't directly about a wicket, but does reference it. Does that merit a wicket tag?

Q: Soccer Field Size

Jacob Jan TuinstraJust the other day I was talking to a colleague and he was telling me soccer fields can differ in size, up to 20 meters in width. Can somebody give my the exact word on this?

user46190
Consider: In american-football, a controversial occurrence takes place on a play (the knee touches the ground but isn't whistled down - Texans @ Lions last Thanksgiving), and a touchdown was scored on that play. Does that merit the tag touchdown?

user46190
This question was tagged wicket. I am having trouble justifying the use of that tag in that question.

11:21 PM
@edmastermind29 no, neither is specific to wickets
has to be about wickets for it to get the tag
