When you do that

i swear textcolor didnt work when i tried it a while back, but something mustve changed because it works now

how long should one usually wait before accepting an answer for meta consensus?

move along

or is it based on # of votes?

I generally wait until it's clear that there is a clear, unopposed consensus

@lyxal ok... so how long would that be? one week?

12:58 AM
And also, the post needs to have at least +5 net score and at least twice as many upvotes as downvotes iirc

That's for standard loopholes
You should probably just get a RO to pin a message here so people notice it

@AidenChow not necessarily - if I saw that there was a single answer with unilateral upvotes (like 10 or so) within a few days, I'd probably accept that
But a week should be pretty standard

no I meant, what's your point
everyone can make teeth soup
what's so special about yours that it needs to be bold italics?

that's just how the soup is

then it's bad soup
bold italics tastes horrible

Tfw getting an item shipped internationally from a company on the other side of the world is cheaper than ordering it from a few states over through the US Postal Service
...wow, and I just found it on the same site I ordered the raspberry pi from, so I could've just lumped it in with that :|
I even searched first and couldn't find it on that site
Is it just me or does all Amazon have nowadays is cheap knockoffs of stuff

it's just you

About to spend $14 on shipping for a $12 product :|

yesterday, by Radvylf Programs
And I'm $60 in debt from the Raspberry Pi
are you not in debt

I'll fix that later

ಠ_ಠ
It'll all end in tears, I know it!

3:03 AM
I'll just go with the cheap knockoff on Amazon for now

what are you getting

ayy adafruit

Stupid website I got the raspberry pi from had the same speaker but their search is totally wack and it didn't show up

all hail adafruit

3:10 AM
I'll have spent $100 on this project now, when the actual supplies I need for it is a total of $40.
Thanks to shipping, taxes, and the extra stuff I had to buy to get the raspberry pi since everything but some random kit was sold out

damn shame chip shortages otherwise you coulda used a pi0w for $10

Me: Wow this sure is a nice supply chain
COVID:
Me:
COVID:
@GingerIndustries That's what I'm using, yeah
Paid $50 to get it, since it was sold out unless I got it with a case and a ton of other stuff

And then shipping added $15

¯\_(ಠ_ಠ)_/¯
that sucks man
I've been trying to get my hands on a Nvidia Jetson Nano for weeks
they've been out of stock since like 2020

3:13 AM
Luckily my parents usually don't look at the shipping cost of stuff, so I can probably just tell them it's $60 total and get away with it
I would say it's gonna suck when I have to pay for stuff myself and I can't pretend shipping and taxes don't exist, but it'll probably be a lot better having a job to actually get money to buy stuff with since my birthday+christmas+allowance savings are at an all time low and the government's not gonna bail me out this time

I had the luck of already having a bunch of parts pre-pandemic

@GingerIndustries how much would you be willing to pay for one?

@user wat

Because i think i could get one

3:25 AM
i have access to a jetson, though i don’t know if they’d let me buy it

I am willing to pay $99, which is the current MSRP of one

@GingerIndustries that is not a hot take
lukewarm would be generous

I’ll check if they let me take it for like $60
@UnrelatedString JUST LIKE UR MOM

but tbh if some random plat on the internet offered to give you an expensive piece of equipment while also hinting that they might technically not be allowed to have it you would probably be a bit concerned as well

I’m not going to steal it lol

3:28 AM
is this going to be a piecekeeping operation

Im in a club that has a jetson that hasn’t been used since like 2018 and probably never will

user's gonna rob them at machinegunpoint

@user how much ram does it have

so i could just ask nicely if i can take it home and donate $60
@GingerIndustries no idea, I’ll have to check

how am I going to get this thing
hey kid, ya wanna buy a Nvidia Jetson Nano ?

3:30 AM
we apparently used it for vision processing but now there’s a nice camera that does that itself
@GingerIndustries uhh, I’m thinking of a way to ship it to you without revealing either of our addresses

how the hell do I explain a Jetson Nano showing up at my doorstep

You ship it to me, I ship it to Ginger, I sell both of your addresses to the dark web

@GingerIndustries ?
It’s not a nuke lol

It's going to be pretty hard for me to explain why this is not feasible without revealing a bunch of personal info

@RadvylfPrograms yes I’m sure criminals will be very interested in the address of a random user

3:32 AM
suffice it to say due to personal reasons I can't really do that

:(
Alright then

all that can really be done here is to wait
sorry

I’m going to try taking the jetson home for myself then

I already have one of Sphero's RVR robots, so for my birthday I'm trying to get my hands on a Nano and a LIDAR sensor

I can put a parachute on a tank, drive it to user's house and grab the jetson, then split it in half. I push the young man it results in to the ground, and use the jet to propel the tank to Ginger.
Wait no I gotta bring the son with me so I can merge him with the jet again

3:34 AM
and then I smack em together and bing bang boom segmentation fault
. _ .

@RadvylfPrograms am i C, because i don’t get the reference

wait how do you know where user and myself live

@user Split jetson in half. You get a jet and a son.

@GingerIndustries wouldn’t a simple arduibo kit do for most things?

    files[filename] = { content };

        headers: {
            Accept: "application/vnd.github.v3+json",
            "Content-Type": "application/json",
            Authorization: `Basic ${config.github_username}:${config.github_token}`,
        },
        body: JSON.stringify({ description, files }),
    });
}
can anyone see anything wrong with this lol
this gets me a 500 and i'm not exactly sure why cuz the response body is empty

is the gist public?

4:23 AM
@hyper-neutrino have you tried turning it off and on again?

@lyxal no but I am creating a gist here so

Is this browser fetch or node-fetch?

this is node-fetch

Hmm, so it's likely not a header not getting set (browser fetch can be pretty restrictive about headers IIRC)

oh I see

4:30 AM
Just in case you may want to try sending it to a node server on localhost:8080 or something, just to make sure all the headers are set properly and all that

interestingly it works when I curl and i'm not sure what i'm doing differently between the two
curl -u username:token api.github.com/gists -H "Accept: application/vnd.github.v3+json" -d '{"description": "test gist 2", "files": {"test2.txt": {"content": "hello"}}}'

I wouldn't be surprised if it was node-fetch, then

yeah. i'll just start up a server and see what the request looks like

@hyper-neutrino Basic username:token as opposed to username:token?

I had to write my own HTTP library for NP/SP (because of some weird cookie handling in node-fetch), wasn't fun lol

4:34 AM
@emanresuA i assume -u sets the header correctly

Okay

also the curl works
it's the node-fetch that doesn't

Then use node to run the curl /hj

Yeah, comparing the headers on the curl vs. node-fetch should hopefully reveal the issue

ah i think i need to base64 encode the basic authorization
lmao

4:38 AM
Oof

@GingerIndustries I... rather like it? It's animals made into fractals. I watched several other vids by the same person, and Cows Cows Cows in particular had a sequence that was basically a Cantor set with cows.
Also, I don't know enough about music to explain why, but the music in each video is basically the concept of "uncanny valley" distilled in audio form.
Very fitting.

@DLosc I do not like how accurate that is
it's liminal music

took things from jelly and caird's fork

do you already have substring index (so the new substring existence would presumably have, like, the argument order reversed or something)

whats that?

also consider a scan with starting value; can't think of a concrete example but i've wished jelly had that a few times

ok

5:35 AM
nice call having both directions of reduce btw

@UnrelatedString so should those be diagraphs?

probably single byte

@UnrelatedString ok added to the list
@UnrelatedString what is substring index?

imagine actually developing a usable golflang and not some other shit

Etch solves #1 by having no lambda and doesn't solve any of the other ones

nice

5:46 AM
eventual lambda syntax will prob. be like define [args]: [code];
either that or define [args] {code}

len("define") == len("lambda")

but at least it isn't an obscure stoopid greek thing
Etch optimizes for ease of use

lambda is better imo

@GingerIndustries i feel like define is one of the worst possible choices of keyword for anonymous functions, whether or not it's what you use for named functions
@PyGamer0 index within one string where another string appears as a substring

so like find?

probably
like jelly's w

If you start at integer position x >0 on the number line and walk left or right at each step with prob 1/2, what is the prob you never get to the origin ?

Not necessarily

8:52 AM
Don't remember why but there's a proof somewhere

Are you sure it is 0?

@emanresuA i dont care if its average or not, all i care is that is beats vyxal
(yes i switched rooms)
(yes nobody else will understand the context of the conversation)

Also see my disclaimer that caird only uses it when it significantly beats vanilla Jelly.

I understand @emanresuA's proof for graffe's question now
If you never touch the origin, then you must go out to infinity (you can never stop at some finite number) and the probability of continually going to infinity tends towards zero.

ok for returning every nth value, is range better than digits?
      ⊏

i would say range
