What if there was a SE API for Python (and other languages too!)?????
import stackexchangeapi.network as se_network
import stackexchangeapi.chat as se_chat
import stackexchangeapi.authenticate as se_auth
se_network.set_network("codegolf")

    for chatID in places_to_post:
        se_chat.post("What happens if a non moderator fake “places a room in timeout”? Just asking - WD", chatID = chatID)
Oops I noticed a bug in my fake code lemme fix that
import stackexchangeapi.network as se_network
import stackexchangeapi.chat as se_chat
import stackexchangeapi.authenticate as se_auth
se_network.set_network("codegolf")

Gists are cool amiright?

yes
but i think they are overkill for short stuff like this
^ hmm progress (am making a new font based on minecraft's font)
CMQ: What should I name that ^.

the "n" is my favorite glyph

i dont think it's possible to create a font based on minecraft's font, it's not a font
(gpt3's thoughts on your font)

cool
@lyxal what should i name it gpt3?

It really doesn't want to help yoy

@BrowncatPrograms Why is NP still WOOF?

@pVCaecidiosporeadduced Yeah, but I think you can do better.

@pVCaecidiosporeadduced I was thinking more like:

@Adám looks better!

9:02 AM
@pVCaecidiosporeadduced Do you have a sample of Minecraft's font?

@Adám i just copied basic latin

For 5×7px fonts, there are not a lot of possibilities. How aboubt just using something like this?

@pVCaecidiosporeadduced A screenshot of a font sample would be a nice addition to the readme.

@Adám that would be for later

9:39 AM
Is this for Dinoux?
@pVCaecidiosporeadduced Btw is "Die-nooks" the correct way to pronounce Dinoux?

@emanresuA no
why would it be?
@emanresuA idk, "di(as in diagraph) nox(as in luvonox)"
@lyxal what browser do you use? on andriod

10:09 AM
CMQ What do you call someone who "does social media"?

@Adám an idiot ;)

Was looking for something like an informal job title.
I think content creator is the term.

yeah, probably
to me that sounds more like youtube videos/stuff like that

10:28 AM
@pVCaecidiosporeadduced duckduckgo
@Adám influencer

:-/

No seriously that's the cool kids term

Oh, thanks.

@Adám Social Media Manager?

@Adám donatello does machines social media

@lyxal You should name it “Minecraft font”

MINECRAFonT

Good idea
I think I prefer that actually
MINECRAF on T
Dig down 100m and bury a big steel letter T there. Fill in your hole and make a life-sized word MINECRAF with lifelike 1m*1m*1m minecraft:spawner that has real pigs around it

MINECRAF on T (literally)
LOL

11:06 AM
@Wansen MINE̞CRAF (might need to zoom in to see it)

MINECRAFT on T (literally)

Oh

@Wansen "what if" - there is: pypi.org/project/StackAPI
It's just a fancy wrapper over the actual SE API tho

oh hey redwofl

redwolf -> redwofl -> rofl -> lmao -> llama
Redwolf is actually a llama confirmed

I mean, sure.

Are you ever going to go back to Redwolf? :P

Maybe I'll be Greenalpaca first :p
I'll probably switch back today though

I'll tell you guys my horrible idea if/when I do it.

1:35 PM
@AaronMiller it can't be any worse than my new idea for multiple inheritance rules

@lyxal I don't know, it's pretty horrible :)

@AaronMiller I bet you haven't seen the crappy specs I just drafted

@lyxal i wouldn't call them crappy

@lyxal I haven't

CMC: print a random utf8 char

@pVCaecidiosporeadduced Vyxal: `⟑Ẇ a ⌐‡ ꜝẊ8 ȧ¬

@pVCaecidiosporeadduced Vyxal: ₀℅ Randomly prints either 0 or 1, both of which are utf8 chars :P

@pVCaecidiosporeadduced Vyxal: 4 (guaranteed random utf8 char, chosen by fair dice roll)

Oh no, I've been outgolfed!

Hehe get gamed on nerd

1:55 PM
I could use implicit input/output to print 0, but that's not nearly as random as 4

@AaronMiller exactly
You don't see me rolling a 0 in that one video I made that somehow got 1.8k views
You see me rolling a 4 after 17 failed attempts

@pVCaecidiosporeadduced "UTF-8 char" makes no sense
Do you mean "unicode char"?
Or "arraybuffer containing the char's UTF-8 representation"?

@BrowncatPrograms a character found in the utf8 encoding is what I'd assume

If it's the first one, JS: String.fromCodePoint(Math.random()*1114111|0)

aren't all unicode characters found in the UTF-8 encoding

1:59 PM
Yeah

in which case it would make more sense to ask for a unicode character because the encoding doesn't really matter unless you want the raw bytes

CMQ: What are your opinions on the furriest airlocks?

the what

Presumably the airlocks with the most fur
It's harder to make TNB discuss a random topic than I thought it'd be :p
Or maybe my random topic is just too random

CMC: Print a totally random number from 69 to 420

CMC: Make an equilateral triangle.

It’s time once again for the ritual that I know we’ve all come to love: the quarterly update on Community team projects. This quarter’s projects are constrained by a lack of available technical/engineering resources on our Public Platform team, so you’ll see that we are focusing on projects that don’t require assistance from them.
Q4 looks interesting
Weighted close votes especially

@pVCaecidiosporeadduced It asks the OS for a random number, so it comes from a shared pool, thus being completely unpredictable.

Is it possible to underline in an SE question / answer?
(Without mathjax)

@WheatWizard Possibly using combining characters.

2:37 PM
Unfortunately that sort of thing creates accessibility issues.

But I'm already using bolding and italics to mean something~

Just make it a link :p
It comes with a color and cursor change for free

You can (ab)use Mathjax to underline it

> (Without mathjax)

2:40 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing I know of one common use case for underlining: proofreading. You can't bold or italicise whitespace.

I'm also not very happy that I can't tag foreign language text thus in order to be WCAG 2.0 compliant my only option is to only use English text.

3:15 PM
> Thanks for taking the time to let us know. Our team is currently investigating the repository in question.
Yay!
That DDoS tool's under investigation

3:26 PM
Fun fact: stasoid is 21 answers and 68 upvotes away from having a gold tag badge in this question alone (and will get the silver tag badge once 5 more questions are asked)
@Tacoタコス Re your recent MSE post, if you use userscripts, Redwolf developed Generic Review Tool, which can make a ping noise anytime something enters the review queues

@cairdcoinheringaahing oh bet! :D
Thanks for that!
Oh my lord, I don't want to include SO lol
The queues there are always active
deletes

It'll only do it for /review tabs you have open :p

Lol
Oh really? I hadn't made it that far yet lol

Pretty sure using GRT on SO would brick your browser :P

For any sites you want to review on, just open the /review page for that site (and probably pin it). It'll play a ping noise (if you set line 35 to true) and open the task in a new tab whenever it shows up.

3:36 PM
I've deleted the @match for SO on my version just to be safe :P

@cairdcoinheringaahing It actually doesn't, it'll only open each queue once :p
Figured that out by mistake

So it won't try to open all 1k reviews that are in that one queue?

Don't think so, no

I'll go check. If I don't come back...go on without me :p
Yeah, it just opened one tab for each queue :p

3:40 PM
This has reminded me that you got it working on meta sites as well, so I've finally added codegolf.meta/reviews to my pinned tabs :P

Eventually I'll get around to having it check multiple sites with one tab open
Like what RSR would do, but not as annoying

4:00 PM
@user So... your microphone advice kind of worked.
Tried plugging my headset into a different laptop, had the same problem. Called tech support. Tech support guy had me plug it into my phone and verified that it wasn't a hardware issue, then said, "I have no idea how to set it up on Windows, sorry, try Windows tech support." >_>
Instead, I tried messing around in Windows Sound settings, and after a while of disabling & enabling various things, suddenly it worked. I went back to my other laptop, plugged it in, and it worked right away. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Q: Footer text is hard to read on meta

pxegerThe styling of the footer on codegolf.meta.stackexchange.com is very low contrast and the text is hard to read, especially the list subtitles. I have selected some of the text "NETWORK", which helps, but this still needs to be fixed. Here is a screenshot - or just scroll down a bit ;) I'm using ...

can anyone reproduce this anymore? I made a userscript to fix it and turning it off / disabling tampermonkey seems to not make the bug come back, but I'm not sure if it's a cache issue or anything liek that

Looks like it's fixed for me

Yeah, it looks fixed

Yep. Text is a lot brighter now. And I don't use any userscripts, so what I see is the real deal. ;P

Might be worth reaching out to a CM/dev just to confirm they've made a change, I think there are a couple of questions on MSE that are similar that could do with status tag updates if they have
@DLosc I just use an incognito window :P

4:13 PM
i have tampermonkey enabled on private windows :P (though i guess i could've used chrome)

Anyone here able to review suggested edits on MM?

I'm surprised how long it takes for reviews to happen on MM

Same here, I just thought it was because it was mine

WansenNumberless Input and Output Your program should print the one-digit numbers (0123456789) in any order. @DLosc That's amazing! I would suggest downloading sbt, which is a pretty good build tool. You could also choose to download the actual scalac compiler itself, but sbt offers the same features and also lets you switch compilers and stuff (besides, you're probably not going to be working with single files, and for anything more than 1 file, sbt or another build tool is better)
I'd suggest using IntelliJ IDEA with the Scala plugin as an IDE, or VSCode with the Metals extension (those are the only two I've used, but Metals also has support for Sublime, Vim, Emacs, etc. afaik, and it's a pretty great language server)
Also, if you're just learning Scala, I'd suggest trying out Scala 3. While Scala 2 is (imo) absolutely amazing, it does have a few warts, and many of those have been cleared up in Scala 3
And if you just want to quickly try out code online, you can use Scastie. The worksheet mode is on by default, so you can see expressions evaluated right there without explicitly printing, even if it's not interactive like a REPL
