i clicked it and it only highlighted the meta post as unread so i was confused as to why it was orange, but then i realized there was also an announcement from half an hour ago that i hadn't read that wasn't highlighted. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
> It always depressed me to see bug trackers and feedback forums with thousands of items languishing there in no man's land with no status at all. That's a sign of a neglected community, and worse, a dishonest relationship with the community. It is sadly all too typical. Don't do this!
@StackMeter I've got a silver discussion tag badge already, [status-completed] would be my second tag badge (not counting bronze/silver/gold of the same one) :P
please don't request upvotes here just for the sake of it - if you have an actual cool submission you'd like to promote more, a) you can request it in the blog chat and b) that's allowed - the general rule of thumb is in the chatiquette:
> The rule of thumb to follow is "If somebody else had posted this, would I still really want to share it?" If the answer is yes, then go ahead.
@cairdcoinheringaahing :( I don't :( I think the missing bit is that those are all devs or people with dev background. Hard to status complete stuff if you're not.
it isn't exactly on-topic to meta, everything it's tagged with is more or less some joke or thing that is mostly tied to something else like spam detection bugs or whatever else
@cairdcoinheringaahing In a former life, yes. Here he's always been a CM but the dev background made it much easier for him to write answers to bug reports (and he would occasionally fix the bugs in some cases, too).
yeah I accept responsibility for that :P but y'all should blame caird too, I'm not the one who dug 30 thousand meta posts out of the abyss (which needed to be done anyway, but still :P)
chat golf: create a function that outputs a string that will make my wife and kids come back. p.s. jessica if youre reading this im sorry please message me back
It was close to 60% the last time I checked a couple of months ago
So we've closed 20 dupes, 40 as "Not suitable for the site" and the rest as "Needs details or clarity"
Interestingly, despite having a pop-con that was basically closed as "Too opinion based and/or too broad", we haven't closed anything as opinion based or too broad :P
lol interesting :P i mean, we don't really use the default opinion based / broad closures because we have our custom no-objective-criterion close message
@cairdcoinheringaahing You got me interested in CR's stats. Seems my page has broke. Apparently we've had 24 questions in the past 90 days, and 5 in the past 30...
Biweekly Mini Golf drafting is open! Head over to the BMG Drafts room to post your ideas. The event will begin at 00:00 UTC on 2021-06-24, around three hours from the time of posting this message.
this doesn't matter so much for this but in TL it's good practice to link to transcripts so that you don't cause like 5 mods to join a room which is a very awkward situation
Oh, @cairdcoinheringaahing and @hyper-neutrino Did y'all finalize the wording for the first time asker modal? I haven't turned that over to them because I wasn't sure if that update was good to go.
I don;t think the "Please post to the Sandbox" is too aggressive, but if there are concerns, maybe "We recommend you post to the Sandbox" or "We strongly recommend you post to the Sandbox" if there's space
Ok, it'd be nice to settle this after 2 weeks and multiple drafts so: If you have an objections to the current proposed wording and formatting of the new first time asker modal, please voice them either here in chat or on the meta question as an answer or comment

We can give it a couple of days, and if nothing comes up, then I think it's clear the current wording works (cc @Catija, @hyper-neutrino)
@Neil i'm not surprised or anything; i'd just rather push it to a comment and have him delete and put it into an edit instead than push it directly into his question as an edit
i've never actually used the latter before actually, lol. haven't found good use for it here
