Why is humans not trying Stack's CMC?
Ok I give up. Any final feedback before I post?

because it's not that interesting and if everyone goes out of their way to avoid "E" it'll make messages awkward and sometimes difficult to understand which is disruptive

Yes, agreed.

9:17 PM
Oh cool, I repcapped on MM :D

lol, nice :P

Somehow, despite have multiple questions on MM with 30+ scores, that's the first time I've done that O.o

wack. i've capped either twice or thrice despite my highest voted post being +21 :P

Wzl
@Ausername we are, we're just getting really high scores :)

Does anybody know where I can get a high quality version of the CGSE logo? I checked the stackoverflow.design and they don't have it there

(This is for a talk I'm writing)

9:33 PM
is this high quality enough? cdn.sstatic.net/Sites/codegolf/Img/logo.svg

I can work with that, thank you!

I just right clicked the logo and pasted the url of that image:)

I am not a smart man

@Hovercouch Out of interest, what's the talk about?

Esoteric languages
And CGSE is a really big part of that story

9:40 PM
and what audience is it for?

I'm talking about code golfing, the advent of golfscript, then 2nd gen golfing languages like Pyth and Jelly, and how TIO really improved the esolang communities
@flawr technically it's for a friend's grad class, but I wrote it for a general audience

Although TIO is slowly dying without Dennis :(

So history starting with FALSE and brainfuck, into different subcategories like turing tarpits and multicoded artlangs, etc etc. I've been working on it a while, it's almost done and I'm pretty pumped about that
@Ausername D:

@Hovercouch Have you got Piet, Malbolge and Befunge?

@Ausername As I've said before, all of TIO is open source and available for anyone to run if they wanted to. The issue is that no one really wants to/can :/

9:45 PM
@Ausername Yup! Piet and Befunge have dedicated sections; there's a Malbolge cameo but I ended up dropped that section because I couldn't get it to work with the rest of the talk, but I'm gonna try writing a companion on Malbolge

@Hovercouch Cool!
@cairdcoinheringaahing /has money/

@Ausername That too :/

Also got dives into Shakespeare, Orca, and GolfScript. I tried to write a dive into Hexagony but ran out of time :/
And the Hello World Chef cake, because it's impossible to talk about multicoding without bringing up the Hello World cake

True.

@Hovercouch Wouldn't intercal count as a much earlier example?

9:49 PM
@flawr technically it does, but it's really more of a proto-esolang? It didn't really influence later esolangs or the culture, which only really "started" with FALSE (which directly inspired both Brainfuck and Befunge)

I must admit I haven't heard of FALSE before

@flawr Here

already reading:)

FALSE hardly even seems like an esolang now lol

The creator, Wouter van Oortmerssen, has done a lot of really cool stuff. He also did Flatbuffers and is on the core WASM team

10:31 PM
Updated Custom Fonts to 1.2.2, it now works on the main stackexchange.com front page (for some reason it didn't before).
Dang it, someone posted a question right before I fixed NMP :/

@hyper-neutrino Yes, it doesn't complete the challenge as specified

I love how they took the time to patch the literal front page of stack exchange, but didn't even do it right and probably just used ctrl+f to change the property

Q: Minecraft piston pushing

A usernameIn Minecraft, pistons are blocks that can move other blocks. However, they can only move at most twelve blocks, and won't work at all if any obsidian is in the way. Also, slime blocks are sticky and stick to other blocks, except for obsidian. Your challenge Take as input a 5x5 matrix or similar, ...

@cairdcoinheringaahing do you have a good formal reason for why? i also agree but i can't think of the specific spec/policy to point to in case they challenge my verdict
one thing I note is that an extended piston in Minecraft doesn't move up itself, whereas the challenge requirement is that the P moves up and leaves a blank, which isn't what Minecraft actually does
the other thing i can think of is MC's acceptable I/O

1. Not a byte
2. Probably not an allowed output format

10:51 PM
@hyper-neutrino That isn't how Minecraft takes input, nor is it how we score Minecraft answers

Ugh, someone upvoted that

Given that minecraft structures can literally be saved into a file, that's the byte count, not blytes
Honestly, I have to echo Redwolf's sentiment. I expected more from someone with 4k reputation, that's really disappointing to see :/

Is "blyte" even a term used anywhere, or is it just russian swearing disguised as a scoring criterion?

@hyper-neutrino Minecraft I/O
@RedwolfPrograms Blyte

That answer doesn't even use that term though

10:55 PM
No, the term was mainly used on main

Ah, ok.

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

Dannyu NDosImplement the ordering monoid Objective Mimic Haskell's (<>) :: Ordering -> Ordering -> Ordering. What's the fuss? This particular monoid is rather useful for comparing sequential containers lexicographically. Format Though Ordering is defined as a three-element enumeration, in this challenge, th...

Also, "OP never disallowed it." is a term that I don't think I've ever seen used on an actual valid answer, and is basically a flag trigger phrase for me :/

It's been ten years, those sorts of answer are long past when they were funny

apprently compressed strings aren't secure passwords for twitch. sad.

11:06 PM
Just waiting for someone to sandbox something or post a question to main or meta
I think my Generic Review Tool script is working, and my NP/SP bots should be as well, which means two more projects are now nearly complete.

11:25 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing yeah true. i mean all i'm going to say is i've seen a pattern of these sorts of not-even-valid purely rule-bending/"clever" submissions from some people; i don't think it'd be appropriate for me to mention anyone or give opinions on users themselves but i do agree with the sentiment here
@cairdcoinheringaahing yeah same. honestly if an answer requires you to clarify that "well technically it wasn't explicitly disallowed" it's... probably not allowed, or not in the spirit of the challenge at all, at least.
why is popcornSE named that way anyway lol
recently just installed it; actually totally unrelated to the conversation i had with you caird, i just came across it elsewhere while going down a chain of linked meta posts or something like that, i think

it's the "lemme just grab some popcorn" meme :P

ah. okay :p
in any case it's much nicer than the moderator flag page we get; that one's sorted by when the message was posted so if a 3 year old message gets flagged it will show up really far down on that list
or rather, since it's not paginated, it won't show up at all, because it just gets cut off

Wow
Ah crap. I lost the location of my Nether portal in a hardcore world, and now I'm trying to get obsidian from piglins :/

anyway, why did lyxal's message about the cmc with some diacritics get 3 flags anyway? it didn't just get the original flag and then some counters

SE's moderation is like its main strength, I don't see why they don't actually put effort into making the tools for it good

11:32 PM
@hyper-neutrino it did?

context-less driveby flagging from other rooms, i guess? i guess ww didn't antiflag it in time

@RedwolfPrograms Because they'd rather have new users posting crap than give the power users pooper-scoopers

@lyxal yeah it got 3 valids, 2 counters, and 2 mehs (i don't think there's really too much of a problem with giving this away given the original flagger named themselves, these are anonymous to me too)
@cairdcoinheringaahing in the words of journeyman, we are basically forced to try to bash in nails with a chocolate-covered banana :D

What the heck, is the transcript page in serif for anyone else?

norepro

11:33 PM
normal font here

It's custom fonts...not sure why
ohhh
I am now sure why

did you do a smart?

Wait
I'm back to not being sure

Wzl
yeah serif normally happens when no fonts could be loaded for me

@RedwolfPrograms Well done

11:36 PM
Okay I'm now sure again

Maybe your computer just doesn't want to have a bad time right now.

I just need to exclude chat from the list of sites
Which is annoying because it's also a *.stackexchange.com
Done

@cairdcoinheringaahing Applaud me, I found my portal :D

Won't bother updating all 50 places until somebody else points it out
@cairdcoinheringaahing Applause

@RedwolfPrograms Update just the Stack Apps post, that should be fine

11:39 PM
I'll do it later, it's not that severe of a bug and I just went through that whole process :p

That moment when you have three aces and you're all in with 4.4M only to be beaten by a flush

Fake money right?

Correct
Never real money

@LuisMendo "Names are all ASCII right"
That one's more developers annoying normal people though I guess

11:44 PM
@LuisMendo Your father smelled of elderberries
Although that's more generally applicable, rather than specific to developers :P
