@UnrelatedString I was joking :)
But really, anything that includes coffee is an unhealthy combination.

That was a long conversation to read through
Definitely siding with water on this one, though

:(

As for coffee vs. tea, no opinion because I've never actually had coffee before :p

@RedwolfPrograms great!
The problem with changing the codepage in an esolang is that you have to update all existing answers.

Not sure how it is in other places but if you walk into a restaurant in Texas and ask for tea you'll get iced tea, so more than once someone in my family's accidentally ordered hot tea on vacations

12:25 AM
@RedwolfPrograms well if you came to my place and ask for tea I'd think of hot tea
So I can see how that would happen

I actually don't think I've ever heard anyone call it "iced tea" in person, just "sweet tea" or "unsweet tea"

I definitely hear iced tea all the time
with the implication of it being very sweet

12:47 AM
@cairdcoinheringaahing LQP was already on the general SE list.

1:11 AM
Okay, problem. From what I've read it looks like you can't include warnings for not having certain tags (only if you do include specific ones). Maybe we could search for the tags that are most commonly used in questions without objective winning criteria and add warnings to those?
Okay, bigger issue. Apparently the main part of the popup for new users isn't even customizable...only the part between the title and the list of things you're supposed to do on other SE sites. Honestly I'm not even sure if there's a point to doing this any more.
I think that initial modal is probably confusing more users than it's helping at the moment, and I don't think there's really anything we can do about that other than saying "oh ignore everything under this because we're not allowed to change it", which definitely makes us seem very competent and professional

In that regard, it might be worth to see how Puzzling's modal looks like

Did they customize theirs? Only four sites have.

Which four?

Not sure, but just checked and Puzzling is default

:/

"You can have whatever you like for dinner! Any food in the world! But the main course has to be a type of soup. The side can be anything, but you can only have an eighth of a serving of it. The type of soup has to be tomato basil. The side cannot have the letter 'a' in the name."

@RedwolfPrograms where?

Stack Exchange
Where you can have anything you want as long as it doesn't take more than five seconds to implement :p

oh i thought it was an actual challenge text

Not sure how that would work lol
Would be a pretty funny off topic post

2:35 AM
@Lyxal Ah yes, because there are only two people/organizations/hive minds with "redwolf" in the name :p

user76284Undecidable halting set Write a program such that the set of natural numbers on which it halts is not recursive. Shorter is better. You may assume natural numbers in your language are unbounded. Example: Python 3 (52 chars) lambda n:eval(n.to_bytes(n.bit_length()//8+1,'big'))

Q: Is this site down or is it just me?

Beta DecayChallenge The challenge is simple, using http://isup.me, determine whether an inputted website is up or down. If the site is up, you should return a truthy value and if the site is down, you should return a falsey value. Rules The input will be a web address such as stackexchange.com or googl...

isup.me redirects to a different website now in this challenge

Shouldn't Rookie of the Year allow any challenge/answer from a new user, as long as they posted their first challenge/answer in 2020?
I noticed that only after writing a nomination

The first and second sentences seem to disagree with each other

Yeah.

To me the title "rookie of the year" would indicate that it could be any answer rather than just the first

I totally agree
The description in 2018 matches our interpretation. Should I fix the 2020 one?

5:15 AM
yep
that makes sense

I'd say fix it

yep fix it

Am I the only one who gets Node JS and Nginx mixed up?

idk what nginx does

It's a web server

when are we awarding bounties to the 2019 winners?

@Adám So is e.g. VTC, OP, and more. Given how much I use it around chat and in comments, I figured it’s worth including it in the more easily accessible bit (I.e. the PPCG post) as well

@user41805 The right question would be "will we award bounties to the 2019 winners at all?"

:(
but anyways, i'll create a room like we did for the previous years

Maybe we can award them with 2020 winners, for the sake of minimum logistics
and I can hand out extra bounties, in case we don't have enough offers

@RedwolfPrograms I don't expect good tea in the US, as I recall they threw all their best tea into a harbour in Boston and it's never been the same since

@Neil There's a whole report about it here.

I promise that my editing "rampage" is over now

@RedwolfPrograms I don't want to start the coffee/tea conversation again, but believe me, you're better off this way. If someone offers you coffee, don't accept.

@cairdcoinheringaahing That's neither water nor milk, but I'll take it.

@user Of course, we're all missing the best option: watered-down milk :P

@cairdcoinheringaahing No, no, anything but that!
Honestly, though, watered-down milk might not be that bad. I'm going to go try it now.

School WiFi is down :/
On a school desktop so I'm probably being spied on in 5 ways
@Neil But the whole point of that was to protest taxes on tea! Totally not because we wanted a whole harbor of tea, but it turned out to not work like that, so we played it off as intentional

@RedwolfPrograms If you're in school, you probably shouldn't be here.

Beats playing Chrome dino game all class (new high score, btw!)

@RedwolfPrograms Nice! I've never managed to go too far on that one.

any of you got any testing tips? I'm only really good at testing the sunshine path of an intended feature/bugfix (i.e. what I expect to happen) so I find it all too easy to introduce regressions on code paths which haven't occurred to me
