@Adám Charcoal, 7 bytes. Verbose code: Find(Join(Input(), ""), Times("0", InputNumber())).

@Neil TIO?

I was too lazy to write a test case

@Neil that doesn't look like 7 bytes to me! :P

oh ⍨

@Razetime Ooh, I just found 0⍳⍨∨/

2:13 PM
that's the whole thing?
wow
how does that work

Note that ∨/ is dyadic.

3:00 PM
@Razetime Thanks, that's much better :)

@Adám genius, wish I had thought of that!

@Adám Scala, too many bytes: _ sliding _ indexWhere(_.forall(!_))

3:31 PM
Scala is pretty cool I like the _s

@Adám Gaia, 2 bytes: ċI (Try it online!) (these are the built-ins "create n zeroes" and "find first occurence") (I don't know why is swapping the inputs twice in the beginning necessary)

@user What is !?

I don't know scala, but I think it's probably the "not" operator

@thedefault. Ah, Gaia is 1-indexed?
@thedefault. Ah, makes sense. so _.forall(!_) means "not any".

@Adám it seems to be (I've never used any indexing in Gaia before, so I didn't know until today)

3:50 PM
@Adám That's right
The underscores are placeholders, so if you expanded them, it'd be (a, b) => a.sliding(b).indexWhere(c => c.forall(d => !d))

4:05 PM
@rak1507 You should try out Scala, it's really fun! Since it's the language of the month right now, I can give you a bounty if you use it for a code golf answer :)

I might do!

Great! By the way, has anyone nominated an APL dialect as LotM yet?

4:29 PM
@user I think that by now, APL is popular enough here that it can't be nominated for LotM.

@Adám Fair enough.

well husk was lotm and it is fairly popular

4:52 PM
Husk:1102, Brachylog:959, Brain-Flak:802, MATL:2,075, QBasic:317, Japt:2,592, Self-modifying Brainfuck:39, Forth:540, Rust:402, APL:3882
2

5:26 PM
fair point

@user Obviously, I wouldn't mind, so you can nominate APL if you want. I don't think specifying a specific dialect is necessary.

@Adám Are the numbers for the 2018 languages from 2018 or today?

@cairdcoinheringaahing Today, so after they were featured.

So they were probably much lower when first nominated
I get 1382 for Japt and 1674 for MATL counting before they were LOTM

It'd make for an interesting meta post: "The effect of LotM"

I'm looking for a python lib or function that can do the same as itertools.product, but with the constraint that every returned element has only unique items. That is, uniq_prod([1,2], [1,3]) should return [(1, 3), (2, 1), (2, 3)]. And I want it be efficient, in that it should not construct the full list and then filter. Doesn't have to be golfy, can use numpy, etc. Asking here because just because of the number of python experts.

@rak1507 yeah saw that. from the accepted answer: "you generally have to either post-process the itertools result sequence, or "roll your own".". i was hoping someone here might know of another way saving me from rolling my own.

by copy pasting their answer

that just might work :)

@Jonah Because product returns a generator, using a yield statement in uniq_prod shouldn't decrease the efficiency too drastically I think

8:11 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing Thanks.

Took me far to long to realise why this doesn't work :/

cmc: that
{p/⍨(∪≡⊢)¨p←,⊃∘.,/⍵} APL

@rak1507 For just 2 arrays or arbitrarily many?

{p/⍨≡∘∪¨⍨p←,⊃∘.,/⍵}
arbitrarily many

8:19 PM
insert rolling eyes emoji here
surprised cartesian product is a whole 2 bytes tbh
seems like it would be quite a common thing

@rak1507 p returns the cartesian product of 2 arrays, but if we need to do it for arbitrary arrays, we need the internal cartesian product builtin Œp

Ah fair enough

@Jonah I'm not a python expert, but does this work? I can't comment on the efficiency, though, you may prefer a generator of some sort. Perhaps a set would also be better for lookups.

lol, posting your entire homework

Of course, without these questions, I'll actually have to think before VTCing :P

do you think anyone would do my latin homework for me if I said to do it in the fewest number of bytes possible? :P

9:55 PM
They might, but in Jelly instead of Latin :)
@rak1507 I promise you your professor will give you a good grade on every assignment if you tell them this: Vide hic et paulo Pedicabo ego canis tuis te currere si non dabis mihi bonum gradus (I used Google Translate, so I don't know if it's retained its meaning).

The reverse translation is 'See it here and a little to be running if you shall not give to fuck me, get good grades, I will return you to your dog,'
(according to google translate)
Latin google translate is notoriously terrible

Erm...the original was "Look here, you little bugger, I'll run over your dog if you don't give me a good grade."

I know where the "fuck me" came from then :P

I should have checked before replying :\.

Yeah, I picked out 'canis' 'currere' and 'non dabis mihi bonum gradus' but didn't bother with the rest
Back to the Cicero

10:06 PM
You weren't kidding about it being terrible. A few iterations of English -> Latin -> English and I now have "Looking for your dog if he does not, and the man to whom you want to run, little'm to me, give me, and I do not get good grades." At least it doesn't have any profanity left now.

lmao
yeah, it really is
It doesn't recognise verb conjugations etc as far as I know
So translating latin can be a right pain

Ah, that's too bad.
I've found it rather handy for French and Spanish.

Yeah, it doesn't help that the subject is obscure enough that often there aren't really many great online resources

Man, Dennis can no longer eleven things :(

@user English Breakfast at the moment

@Lyxal Iced coffee > hot coffee > hot tea > iced tea

@cairdcoinheringaahing respectable.

10:25 PM
I drank a flavoured iced tea once and I felt like my heart was going to explode. Never again

Can't get a good iced latte since I moved and I'm heartbroken :(

how do people take caffeine willingly?!?!

@rak1507 In pill form.

@rak1507 it taste good

@rak1507 A mild addiction's a good start

10:26 PM
@Adám Even worse! All of the heart exploding, none of the tolerably ok tasting foodstuffs

@Lyxal If we're talking tea with milk (and not green tea or whatever), then definitely tea. In the summer, though, iced coffee is way better.

@user to heck with green tea
no tea needs milk
2

I would happily have a tea with milk (minus the tea)

unless it's plain black tea
@rak1507 weak.

@rak1507 You probably took too much. You need to build your tolerance.

10:27 PM
Black tea is disgusting.

@rak1507 pathetic
@user it's kinda alright if it isn't too strong

If it's not strong, there's no point in drinking it.

@user Agreed there. Tea must have milk

Every time I post one of my tea related takes I get 1000 pings bullying me for my in-tea-lerance

Might as well just drink some water, it's cheaper and you won't have the blood of cows on your hands.

10:28 PM
@user I mean black tea no milk is tolerable if it isn't too strong

@Lyxal Tolerable, yes. Enjoyable? Not so much.

but tea with milk needs strength otherwise there's no point

@user milk >>> water

@user that's what I just said

@user I don't mind the blood, but milk… eww.

10:29 PM
@rak1507 That a signed bit shift?

lol

@user bites my steak dinner

@user yes definitely

Disgusting omnivores.

In the wild: if you drink milk, you get nutrition. If you drink water, you get waterborne brain eating parasites. Seems like pretty clear evidence that nature prefers milk over water

10:30 PM
@rak1507 are you dissing water now?!

Yeah I am

You realize milk could also be contaminated, right? Don't want to get mad-cow disease.

@rak1507 Aight you've taken it too far

You don't get mad cow disease from drinking milk
Isn't that from when cows eat each other or something

@rak1507 I ain't standing for your baseless disregard for water

10:32 PM
@rak1507 Okay, you don't get it from milk, but it's not like milk can't be dangerous.

@Lyxal Water is highly overrated
3

@Lyxal gosh dang I forgot the comma
@rak1507 894k people disagree with you

@user Bit of milk never killed anyone!

@rak1507 Try living without it.

@Lyxal Where is that number from

10:33 PM
crap wrong link

@rak1507 yes it did

@Lyxal Fake news, that's what Big Water wants you to believe

And you're from Big Milk, are you?

@user Well... it's too late now

10:35 PM
CMP: Water or milk?

Oh, well that study is about bone fractures? Due to ... reasons ... somehow I don't think that would really make much difference for me
@user Milk 100% hands down no contest

@user dihydrogen monoxide

@rak1507 You may not, but other might.

that's my preference

@user Drinking too much water can make your cells explode, checkmate

10:36 PM
@rak1507 you're 70% water.
I think that's checkmate

@rak1507 So can drinking too much milk.

@rak1507 By hating water you're hating yourself

Although by the time cytolysis happens, you're probably dead already of a burst bladder.

@Lyxal I'm a large percent blood but I wouldn't drink blood

@rak1507 7% isn't large

10:37 PM
@rak1507 Then why drink milk, which is gotten using methods that lead to so many cows' deaths?
It's like buying products from sweatshops.

@Lyxal By hating milk, you're hating the way humans have fed their infants for millenia, implicitly condemning the survival of the human race

I do not support cow milk.

@rak1507 I don't hate milk I'm just saying you're wrong for hating water ;D

@user If the cows didn't want to be farmed, they shouldn't have made their milk so delicious. I don't know what they were thinking to be honest, rookie error

Actually, milk is delicious so their young stay around. I don't think they were counting on humans drinking it too.

10:39 PM
Well they should have thought of that
(seriously though, factory farming is bad I agree)

Also, a lot of people are lactose intolerant. If humans were meant to drink milk, most of us would not be.

@rak1507 I'm tempted to mark that as "offensive"
@user exactly. You don't see anyone with water allergies

@rak1507 A large minority of the world's population suffer from milk tolerance.

"Should I be concerned about Dihydrogen Monoxide?" "Yes, you should be concerned about DHMO!"

> What is the link between Dihydrogen Monoxide and gun violence?
"The incidence of gun violence seems to be rising at an alarming rate. A recent stunning revelation is that in every single instance of violence involving guns, both in the U.S. and internationally, Dihydrogen Monoxide was involved. In fact, DHMO is often very available to those who would do harm to others. Meanwhile, apparently no efforts have been made to limit the availability of this potentially dangerous chemical compound."

haha

> Can using DHMO improve my marriage?
> Married couples have found that regular ingestion of DHMO can improve their marriage-related activities, while couples that never ingest DHMO often find that their marriage suffers as well.
See. Water = good because it saves marriages

10:44 PM
Even more dangerous than DHMO is hydrogen hydroxide, though.

Everyone who has ever consumed DHMO has died.

Couples that never ingest DHMO never get divorces, though. Couples that do consume DHMO often get divorces.

Yeah well without DHMO there would be no code golf

@rak1507 So has everyone who hasn't. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Someone needs to make a challenge about making up silly names based off of chemical formulas.

Prolonged submergence in DHMO at childbirth is fatal. However, if you submerge an infant in milk, they will be able to stay within the milk for the rest of their life!
