Jelly is pretty much optimized to the CGCC's input format
 
so it's not the best choice for something like AoC or any other programming competition that involves parsing input
And I hoped to have a scanf in Factor too :/

Considering making a simple golfing lang focused on string parsing and quick variable/list manipulation for AoC, with all the most common instructions in lowercase letters
 
i feel like an optimized aoc language would be more like a shorthand than a golfing language
and it would have to be
extremely imperative
but also have top notch support for functional constructs

Ya, that's what I mean. Isn't the "smallest source code" (or choice of language) just using some assembly code ideal for that specific scenario?
 
For a few years now we've had it so every language competes with itself rather than all the others, since some (like machine code or special golfing languages) are so much shorter than, say, Java
 
Why not just write the assembly code for a particular challenge...
