CMP: How do/would you feel when/if you get lots of upvotes in a single day, seeing all the extra rep lost in the air due to 200 daily rep cap?

A mix of very happy and very annoyed
It's only happened to me once, though

(I got 38 upvotes yesterday)

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

Redwolf Programs[Unnamed] code-bowling This challenge is based on a somewhat unusual premise; the goal is to create a rectangular program (box) which is as large as possible, where each row and column will be a solution to a different challenge on this site. For example, a 3×4 box might look like this: abcd :-]...

@Bubbler I don't really like the rep cap. I'd much rather that upvotes had "diminishing returns". E.g. if the firsts upvote on a post earned you 10 rep, the second 9.9, the third 9.801, etc. then every upvote (until the 757th) would still be worth something, and the day upon which it was given wouldn't matter. No post could then earn you more than 1000 rep, which would prevent the "single-post millionaires".
If I'm a contributor of good material to the site, why should I be punished for contributing more in a single day instead of spreading it out over multiple days?

@Adám yeah this sounds like the reddit karma system

Q: Avoid walking into a rectangle

SisyphusGiven a rectangle, a start point, and an end point, find any path from start to finish that avoids the rectangle. Example Suppose you were at \$(1.5, -1.5)\$ and you needed to get to \$(2, 4)\$. However, there is a rectangle with upper left corner \$(1, 3)\$ and bottom right corner \$(4, 1)\$ in ...

@Bubbler that doesn't happen very often to me; it was only due to the recalculation of question vote reputation that I managed to get the Epic badge (which is amusing given my answer/question ratio)

12:29 PM
That question recalculation pretty much doubled my rep on every site I'm on (other than SO), since I ask so many questions
I still disagree with it, though

12:43 PM
@Adám I actually really love that idea for how rep should work. I guess it was implemented the way it is because integers are easier to deal with (and understand), but the rep cap really should be based on posts, not days.

Q: Is my Processor 32 or 64 bit?

tuskiomiNot to be confused with Is my OS 32-bit or 64-bit. This one is very simple, tell me whether or not my CPU supports 64-bit instructions. If my CPU supports 32-bit instructions, print '32', if my CPU supports 64 bit instructions, print '64', if my processor naitively supports other lengths of instr...

Mr RedstonerTake 6! A good card game is a wonderful thing. I got me a nice fresh set of Take 6! Too bad though, I have no-one to play with. And so I turn to you! The Game The game is played with a set of 104 cards, numbered 1 to 104 inclusively. Each card has a number of 'cows' attached. Here's a quick Pytho...

caird coinheringaahingDelicate primes Inspired by Find the largest fragile prime. By removing at least 1 digit from a positive integer, we can get a different non-negative integer. Note that this is different to the Remove function in the linked question. Given a prime number \$n\$, we say it is delicate if all intege...

@Lyxal I think a key issue is how similar it is to version 1. The task and the permanent rules do make it (imo) different enough to avoid being VTC as a duplicate, but it also (again, imo) feels like just a rerun of the previous post, rather than a new challenge. I realise this isn't exactly "constructive" feedback, and that view may differ across users, just wanted to share my 2 cents

10:47 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing thanks for that. To be honest, it is kind of intended as an improved rerun of the last challenge, so it'll be interesting to see what other people think of it.

@Lyxal Oh, don't get me wrong, I think it should be an interesting challenge, I just think it's more of a rerun, rather something original

@cairdcoinheringaahing I didn't think you thought it wasn't interesting. I was simply confirming the fact that you picked up on the rerun aspect.

@Lyxal Just wanted to make sure, meaning can be difficult to confer over text :P

11:04 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing all good!

11:32 PM
I will probably VTC the old Codington Crescent challenge as a duplicate of the new one .

@pppery That isn't a bad idea
