RaphaelQuinetPerl 5, 66 54 53 19 bytes # ## use #### Quine I am submitting this as a joke because I did not even bother trying to write some optimized code. Instead, I am using a module from CPAN that causes the program to print itself. The Quine.pm module can be found on CPAN and was released in Janua...

^ This program has the "Nineteenth Byte" as its last character.

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

NeilHow many Temtem can I breed? Temtem is a monster-catching MMORPG. Within the game you have the ability to breed two Temtem to create an egg which then hatches into the baby of its mother. The ability to do this depends on several properties of the parent Temtem: A Temtem has a gender, which is...

@petStorm did he say yes?

@Anush Sorry, I didn't see him in the organization yet...
Anyhow, I got the username totally at random by typing "gva". A random person counts as a member. :)

CMQ: Who is the most famous tech person you've been in direct 1:1 two-way contact with?

Well, I've just sent an e-mail to the Python creator... Wait, that's one-way.
@Adám I guess Chris Pressey had met Ben Olmstead in person once.

I don't know who any of those are.

Chris Pressey created Befunge; Ben Olmstead created Malbolge.

OK, but those are not you.

2:39 PM
I'm just trying to give an example, since I never did that before.

I emailed Douglas Crockford (JSON) and he responded with a follow-up question that I then answered.

Did he check the answer out of the inbox the follow-up question which you answered?

You mean, did he check my answer's accuracy or did he read my answer?
I don't have access to any spyware on Douglas Crockford's computer.

A four-way contact is a double two-way contact. Yours counts as a 3/4 4-way contact.

Maybe my CMQ was vague. How exactly do we measure tech fame?

2:46 PM
@Adám Maybe the person has to be on Wikipedia.

@petStorm Yeah, I was about to post:
CMP How many people that have dedicated Wikipedia pages have you been in direct 1:1 two-way contact with?

Since that means I have to access a blocked website, I got to go now.

3:10 PM
@Adám Probably 0, unless you count talking to a musician at a concert I guess?

@James That'll count if they answered.

What do you mean "If they answered"?
Oh, wait I see

I've found at least 4 so far.

I've once apologized to a musician after bumping into them accidentally. Does that count?

If they said "it's alright" and they're on W, then sure.
Counts if they said "idiot" too.

3:16 PM
:D

I can only think of two so far

Oh, wait, I've interacted with lots. Way more than 4, maybe a dozen or so.

@Adám Is direct 1-to-1 necessarily alone with you just two? Or just talking to each other?

@xnor Just talking is fine. With 1:1 I mean that you issued a form of communication directed primarily to each other, even if others were participating in general.

Does e-mail count?

3:31 PM
It does, c.f. my example above.

3:47 PM
@Adám OK, I found 50
So, I'd estimate 100+

Whoa, and I though my 17 (and counting) was a lot.
Who are you‽

Grad school has a lot of opportunities to meet researchers. Especially, grad school visits where prospective students often meet 1-on-1 with a dozen or so profs.
My field also had a lot of conferences which encourage a lot of mixing around and cocktail chatter with people

What do you do?

Theoretical computer science, but I've since graduated

And all these professors are on Wikipedia?

3:57 PM
I checked all the ones that I counted are there

So different from how I "got" mine. Most are famous rabbis (and two rich people they introduced me to), the rest are through work, either colleagues or customers.

4:10 PM
@Adám That sounds a lot more interesting than mine!

@xnor If I sort my list chronologically, it is basically a biography from since I was 19.
@xnor I'm certainly feel very honoured by being mentioned and listed in the references for the first of the HOPL IV papers.

Q: FizzBuzz: Least unique bytes

I think it's a potentially interesting scoring criterion, as long as different languages aren't competing with each other (as with code golf). Challenge: Cr...

@Adám I've spoken with Brendan Eich at a conference, something to do with the the monocle moustache syntax for classes that he was considering.

How was that?

Any feedback for this and this sandboxed challenges?
Those silent downvotes are making me feel like the sandbox is less and less helpful.
