@A̲̲ Sure, but what if people do talk inside, just not frequently? Then there is a point in keeping it unfrozen so anyone can ask at any time

Q: Popularity of posts, based on capitalization (no graphs this time)

Redwolf ProgramsAfter this question, I became interested in looking for various relationships in post popularity. While reading through the HNQ list, I noticed that some questions are capitalized in title case, and others written like sentences. So, I used a SEDE query to get a table of question data, and starte...

I will not participate in Winter Bash until TNB freezes over.

Q: Largest smallest gap

Robin RyderWrite a function or program which takes as input a set of distinct, non-negative integers \$\{x_1, \ldots, x_n\}\$ and outputs the smallest gap between any two values in the set, i.e. \$\min_{i\neq j}|x_i-x_j|\$. Scoring This is not code golf. Your score is the smallest gap of the set of code p...

Q: Count the length of head movement

CuttingChipsetOnce upon a time I wanted to order custom tokens for a board game. They say they can do it, and then they present me their price list. I was confused because they charge per inch of head movement, and I have no idea how much will my tokens cost. INPUT: a 2d grid: |,-,\,/ are straight cuts. Eac...

4:17 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing I'm surprised there was even a Winter Bash at all this year.

@El'endiaStarman Me too, all I read on Meta about it was that it wasn't going to happen

@flawr i'm good friends with alex now and we've met up in person a few times

@Riker you can no longer hide your illegal use of a time machine!
@Doorknob magpie-AlexA?

Hey everyone! I'm working on this challenge in the Sandbox, and I'm trying to figure out how to modify it so that the answers are not derivatives of other Fibonacci prompts. Any suggestions are welcome.

Hey, those of you with significant others (@AlexA., @ChrisJester-Young, @Dennis, uhhh... @Zgarb? @mınxomaτ? @othersWhoApply), my fiancée suggested to me a few months ago that I should write a blog post on something like "what you should know if you're going to marry a programmer". I've been mulling over the idea for some time, and I'm gonna start soliciting input from other programmers. So, if you were to write such a blog post, what would you include?
Pretty sure I've heard it other times before as well

@cairdcoinheringaahing At the time Alex only had a girlfriend (though for 7 years). I don't think there was any mention of engagement or marriage.

@El'endiaStarman Hmm, to snoop or not to snoop, that is the question :P

hey does this not work for anyone else or is it just me pyth.herokuapp.com/?code=%2a6+2&input=3&debug=0

@flawr Wow, a reply to a very old post. I actually eat pineapple on pizza now, if provided by other people.

Q: Tips for golfing javascript code, especially converting while loop to expression

Daniel FranklinThe code: function L(){N=null;E=[N,N];t=this;h=E;t.u=i=>h=[i,h]; t.o=_=>h==E?N:h[+!(h=h[1])];t.e=(i,l)=>h=(l||h)==E?[i, E]:[(l||h)[0],t.e(i,(l||h)[1])];t.s=_=>{o="";while(i=t.o()) {o+=i+","}return o}} For my response to this (old) question: https://codegolf.stackexchange.com/a/196783/72421 (m...

CMC:Is this sin x or x^3?

11:43 PM
yes
probably

But which one is it? That's the challenge.
Y'all gotta answer which one y'all think it is.

sinx no doubt

@Jono2906 Are you sure they are distinguishable with arbitrary scaling and limited resolution?

@Adám I would say so

I've managed to repcap on meta se
not by contributing valuable stuff
but by knitting something

11:53 PM
I think that graph is x^3.

@Jono2906 I have a feeling that for any given resolution, there is a scaling of sin x and a scaling of x³ that match.

this is how I can get rep on a site that's as tough to contribute to as meta se

shoot

11:55 PM
I have seen many a sine curve in my lifetime and that did not look like one. :P

Do y'all want another one?

ngn
sin x doesn't get steeper than 45 deg

ohh I thought it was sin x^3
the question

@ngn But you can't know what 45⁰ is.

ngn
@Adám ?

11:56 PM
if you change the x scaling you can make the angle appear steeper

@ngn If you don't know the horizontal-vs-vertical scaling

ngn
@Adám the options were sin x vs x^3, not k*sin x vs k*x^3
