Q: Find a longest shortest path between words

jnfntA popular word puzzle is to convert one word into another via a series of steps which modify only one letter at a time and which always result in a valid word. For example, BAG can be converted to DOG via a path of five steps: BAG -> BAT -> CAT -> COT -> COG -> DOG In this example, a two-step p...

Thank you!

@DJMcMayhem I hope this is gonna be a yes:)
@DJMcMayhem Does that mean (or sound like to you) they're gonna ditch swag completely or they just have some other ideas?

Q: Flow of materials from A to B with constraint

Ravi TiwariI have been struggling with this problem and haven't been able to figure out the solution. By solution, I mean the problem modelling, defining and structuring it, and then writing a program to solve it. It will be very helpful if a guide to arrive at the solution rather than just some terse code ...

Bug: the onebox above still shows me the old site favicon. Also, the bot could use a new avatar.

@JohnDvorak Maybe blame caching?
@JohnDvorak The bot did get a new avatar: The bubble now says "CGcc"

Caching from when?
Oh, yeah, it does read CGCC now. But I maintain that it needs a new avatar :P

Hmm, if you take Gold to be three digits, Silver to be two digits, bronze as 1 digit. My rep is currently a "Stack Exchange" number
E.g., 4 silvers, 17 bronzes -> Any number made up of [1,7,4,4]
Double hmm, not sure if that would be worth typing up into a challenge

1:30 PM
@Veskah Interestingly, on codegolf.SE, silver is about a third as frequent as bronze, among high-rep users. On SO, silver is only slightly less prevalent than bronze.

Neat

CMC: Gold badges are worth 10 silver badges, silver badges are worth 1.5 bronze badges. Given [gold,silver,bronze], answer the pure bronze equivalent.

@Adám Dyalog APL, lazy answer: 1⊥15 1.5 1×⊢

1:46 PM
@J.Sallé C'mon, you can do better. The answer is right there in front of you!

Approach for finding a clever APL solution to problem X: 1. Try and 2. Try something else…

2:05 PM
@Adám I'm trying a few "something elses" but I got nothing so far. Maybe I'm just being dense
In my defense I didn't get my morning coffee today

@J.Sallé Try to explain to me what you want.
@DJMcMayhem Is it silly of me to be bothered by mods being blue instead of green?

@Adám well right now what I really want is an espresso >.>
Other than that, I'm trying to use LCM and GCD. IDK, math is hard

@Adám Maybe a little bit ;)

@Adám Jelly, 6 bytes: 1.⁵,æ.
I haven't golfed in months so I may be a little rusty with Jelly
Oh whoops. I read "gold = 10 bronze"

2:21 PM
@Adám well this is quite the opposite, but is 2 bytes shorter

@Mr.Xcoder You need to update the name of this site in your page. And possibly your age?

2:50 PM
@LuisMendo Hi, thanks for the heads-up. My age is still up to date. But which name are you referring to? (I'm probably blind :P)

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

VeskahIs my Rep in Stack-Exchange Form? Premise: Your reputation is in Stack-Exchange Form if it can be represented by decomposing your medal counts (gold, silver, and bronze counted separately) into their base-10 digits and joining them in any given order (barring a few caveats). However while decom...

@Mr.Xcoder Programming Puzzles & Code Golf. We are now Code Golf & Coding Challenges

@LuisMendo Ah yeah, sure
Thanks a lot for the reminder!

:-)

I thought you meant the name of my site itself

Haha, no. It seems to be perfectly applicable
BTW, you have an impressive list of achievements!

Thanks a lot
Updated.
I'll keep the abbreviation PPCG though

3:31 PM
yesterday, by MilkyWay90
@NathanDimmer It will be PPCG in our hearts.

@LuisMendo Yes
If I can hold off the vacation, then I may be able to get a Fanatic badge
I would've had 2 Fanatic badges if it weren't for vacations and field trips

I got my first fanatic badge while I was on a trip to Alaska.

@DJMcMayhem my family doesn't normally go to places with wifi
My school never does

4:05 PM
@NewSandboxedPosts If anyone could take a gander and give some feedback

CGCC is a lot less distinct than PPCG-- just from a google search CGCC stands for so many different things.

8:33 PM
But it compresses so well

Unless PPCG is expected in your prior.

9:00 PM
ooh I just got a new badge
"Lifejacket"
has this been around for a while

I just received it as well
Draw an Asterisk Triangle

seems like a lesser version of Reversal
sounds good

9:27 PM
@aspaghetto It was awarded 187 times a few hours ago

@J.Sallé Wow, they've put an unusual amount of effort into writing a blog post on... well... 2 badges
