@Neil Drawing it in SOGL would probably be well over that though

@Poke 73%, wow. I wonder how well that translates to PPCG.

@AdmBorkBork I was curious about SE in general

Q: 128 years? Hypothetical leap year reform

Sherlock9The solar year is 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes, 45 seconds, and 138 milliseconds, according to this video. With the current Gregorian calendar the rules for leap years are as follows: if year is divisible by 400, LEAP YEAR else if year is divisible by 100, COMMON YEAR else if year is divis...

@DLosc Did I beat you to it? If so, sorry !
CMP: Is it just me and my family or Whatsapp is down?

@Mr.Xcoder No problem, it's part of the game. I was busy worrying about whether A000248 was too tricky for a next sequence when I saw your answer. ;)

@flawr It works for me now too, but there have been around 5 minutes it was down (confirmed by some friends of mine too)

Well it's on the main wikipedia article, but it's still really cool :-)

@Mr.Xcoder Where do you think I found it?

FlipTackMark My Mail! 4-state barcodes Many postal services (Royal Mail UK, Canada Post, US Mail, etc) use 4-state barcodes to encode information about their mail. Rendered in ASCII, it may look something like this: | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |...

@NewSandboxedPosts From an information theory standpoint, that could be way more efficient
For example:
            |       |
Bar:    |       |   |
            |   |   |

Digit:  0   1   2   3
Then you don't need that crap at the beginning/end
Although then I guess you won't know the order unless it has a 2

Q: Coffee Machine Machine

Stephen LeppikYou left your computer for too long, and it went to sleep. Wake it up again by printing the following coffee maker. ________._________ | | \ / | || | \ / | || |___\___/ | | _X___ | | / - \ \ |______| / - \_\ | ____ | /_______\ ||7:30||__________ ||____| ...

New sequence on the OEIS challenge again again ^_^

9:15 PM
@DJMcMayhem That's true, but I'm trying to get it closer to what postal services actually do
There's normally a start/stop sequence
And it will allow me to make a secondary challenge... given one of the barcodes, parse it, however it may be upside down (hence you need to check which way to read it)
@DJMcMayhem The way that Royal Mail UK does it is by starting with a 3 and ending with a 1 (I think), which cuts off two bars

Yay, my first run of 7 green GitHub blocks!

9:32 PM
@Adám Heh, what have you been working on?

@Pavel This and also github/Dyalog/TryAPL but that isn't public.

@Adám Ah. Are new and exciting things coming to TryAPL?

9:49 PM
@Pavel The first phase (live within the next few days, hopefully) adds seven primitives, one system utility function, various smaller language enhancements, multi-line functions (although somewhat awkward to create), and ability to import (white-listed) functions from standard libraries. Phase two (sometime next year, probably) will have a complete overhaul of the interface (including mobile UI), saving and loading, and maybe more.

@Adám What standard library
Does Dyalog have an import statement that I haven't heard of

@Pavel Any supplied workspace. We can potentially add a workspace geared especially for TryAPL where all objects are white-listed.

@Adám Ah, but there's no importable StdLib in vanilla Dyalog?

@Pavel ⎕CY (copy). Example usage.

@Adám Neato! Reads docs

9:59 PM
@Pavel There is no supplied workspace called StdLib, but we do supply a host of workspaces with all kinds of useful utilities like Morse decoding/encoding and BF evaluation.

> BF evaluation
Dyalog must be a fun place to work at
3

@Pavel IMHO, the most useful workspace is dfns which you can browse.

10:13 PM
@Pavel I was surprised by that too.

10:23 PM
Whoops disregard that message, I forgot I linked to Fortress in my answer for the OEIS chain.

@Pavel It is. A default install also has GUI examples like Spider solitaire, a juggling pattern visualiser, and a 3D anaglyph turtle graphics utility. You also get plenty of poetry, musings, a maze generator, Mastermind ("cows and bulls"), a music playlist generator, a Lisp evaluator, …

The poetry thing is a reference to the dead art of Perl Poetry, correct?

@Zacharý No, actual poetry:
Earthlings
----------
 You Earthlings perplex with your separate
  and isolated conscious minds each with its
   ridiculous illusion of self and its paltry
    palette of concepts and primitive single
     mode of abstraction which severely limits
      what you are able to conceive let alone to
       label with your puny languages in order to
        communicate poorly within small subsets of
         your barely sentient species but what irks
          most of all is your inability to perceive

@Christopher2EZ4RTZ With what?

10:29 PM
@Zacharý I have to buy a gift for my 13 y/o sister
wth do they even like
A K&R????
Mechanical keyboard???

@Christopher2EZ4RTZ No

@DJMcMayhem oh well i want one anyways

@Christopher2EZ4RTZ What is that?

You know her better than any of us possibly could. What makes you think we'd be any help?

@DJMcMayhem i mean i have no idea what she likes

10:32 PM
@Christopher2EZ4RTZ Ideas

@Adám thanks
my amazon suggestions are doomed :()

@Christopher2EZ4RTZ How do you live in the same house and have no idea what she likes?

@DJMcMayhem do you live with siblings?

@Christopher2EZ4RTZ Used to. (6 of them)

10:33 PM
@DJMcMayhem dang beat me. only 5
"only 5"

Lol
I know lots of even larger families
(1 with 8, 2 with 9, and 1 with 11)

my dad had 13 siblings
sooo
@Adám found it from the list, thanks

My grandparents knew a family with 21 kids.

@Zacharý I had a great slightly nsfw joke for that :P but I haven't been kicked for a while and don't wanna ruin my streak

My wife doesn't even know how many siblings she has…

i starred just so we get a broader range of responses btw

@DJMcMayhem You should insert "CMP"
@DJMcMayhem And swap the boldness.

Ehh
I like strawpolls in bold
And more importantly the 2 minutes are up

What would happen if everyone started chatting in bold?

I made you a stroll poll. "what flavor" bold flavor

10:44 PM
elements = document.getElementsByClassName("content");
for (var index = 0; index < elements.length; index++) {
    elements[index].innerHTML = "<b>" + elements[index].innerHTML + "</b>";

Stephen LeppikThe Microwave Challenge code-golf ascii-art Inspired by this comment. Input The number of seconds on the timer. Output Here's our basic microwave: _____________________________________________________________ | | ___________ | | ...

@HyperNeutrino Or just inject .message{font-weight:bold}, but I was more thinking of the consequences than the looks. Bold text would suffer inflation (and we would probably all get banned). On the other hand, you could then de-emphasise text.

@HyperNeutrino That's actually not too bad
I was expecting it to look horrible

@DJMcMayhem I like it. Much more readable.

yeah. it does look actually decently nice, at least compared to what I was originally expecting :P
anyway gtg o/

11:06 PM
@Christopher2EZ4RTZ Hehe, nice reference.

11:41 PM
@DJMcMayhem Have you seen Vim Adventures?

11:57 PM
@quartata Is that the vim video game? I have seen that
