@HelkaHomba SOGL, 2 bytes: Δ*. .Δ* is required on online because of a bug (. = push input number)
okey yey time to transition to sympy
anyfix on my machine will be broken for the next few days lol
What the heck, can anyone else see "dclxvi. ha." in the readme?
Symbolic mathematics, allows for arbitrary precision
because 0.1 + 0.2 != 0.3
8:05 PM
@MDXF yes
This is what I put in the README 666. ha.
And something turned it into dclxvi
why did 666 get changed o.o
oh wait
which is apparently a satan thing, look it up
8:06 PM
nero = 666
Yeah it's roman numerals for 666
holy sh*t that's creepy. Should I contact GitHub or post a viral question on StackOverflow?
Viral post, duh
@MDXF viral post to repbait
Will do, then
I'll make sure to downvote just make sure it's ontopic
8:11 PM
I won't tag it , if that's what you mean :P
I don't know exactly what is on-topic on SO honestly :P
I just hope my questions are on-topic
also 0/10 my question has +1/-0, no answers, and ended up on Page 2 after like 4 minutes ಠ_ಠ SO is too active
CMC (Cubically Im looking at you): split a string on new lines
@cairdcoinheringaahing Cubically can't take input yet
8:13 PM
lambda x:x.split('\n')
So hardcode it
Cubular: 1 byte (ú)
Yep. My in development language has that builtin
ಠ_ಠ I forgot to implement split in my language
you use that emoticon too much
8:15 PM
TacoScript makes it too easy lol
what do you think of this as a challenge: using all bytes in your language's code page/single byte characters, output the largest number you can, without erroring.
If you like it, dibs.
like you have to use every single character?
@HyperNeutrino yeah
Q: GitHub satanically messing with my README

MD XFMy GitHub repo here has nothing but a readme in it. In this readme, locally I wrote this: Factoids: - There are about six different ways to do everything in Forked. - There are actually six different ways to enter loops. - There are six directionals and six I/O commands. - 666. ha. Emphasi...

hm. without shoving them into comments?
8:19 PM
So Python would have to use all of ascii.
but # is comment
oh wait strings
only once, or as many times as I want?
Im thinking about preventing duplicate characters but I'm not sure
@cairdcoinheringaahing that would make it VERY difficult for some languages because then they can't close strings
8:24 PM
Yeah I know. But it could be that you can use 1 character twice?
Is there any Kivy expert here?
I need help!
It isn't anything much sophisticated.
@HyperNeutrino would it be tagged ?
I just noticed that I have a starred message on there. Huh...
@cairdcoinheringaahing I wouldn't recommend that, though then it would be too easy (99999999999999999999....999999999999).
@cairdcoinheringaahing Probably.
Darn, turns out GitHub is not operated by Satan. It turns all numbers at the start of unordered lists into Roman Numerals :(
8:29 PM
oh :(
"less devil" 10/10
What does 10/10 actually mean?
I have seen you use it many times
10 points out of a possible 10
Basically, 100% or "I score you 10/10"
@HyperNeutrino repeat only once?
that could let people close strings
@MDXF Oh, I thought it meant something more sophisticated
8:32 PM
Nope lol
@Arjun I'll let you in on a secret: the / isn't actually a backslash
@cairdcoinheringaahing that might work; i'd sandbox it at this point probably
@cairdcoinheringaahing yes it actually is it's a forward slash
@cairdcoinheringaahing why would arjun think it's a backslash?
@HyperNeutrino on mobile now: can't really use the sandbox
8:33 PM
ah ok
also 0/10 please use replies not mentions lol
@HyperNeutrino Took me so long to finally start doing that lol
@MDXF caret reply made it easy. i was too lazy previously
A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

rogaosGolfing a Busy Turing Machine code-golf turing-machine busy-beaver For the sandbox This question is really hard, and the solution is restricted to one "language" – a 1-tape, 2-symbol Turing Machine. So I'm not sure if it belongs on PPCG. I've written up a basic description below, but can go in...

@HyperNeutrino ugh I hate caret reply
8:34 PM
@MDXF actually it's a pipe, leaning away from itself
It's nice, but if someone sends a message before you're done it screws it up
@cairdcoinheringaahing umm. ok
@MDXF no it doesn't. ATaco fixed that after I mentioned it to him like a month ago
@cairdcoinheringaahing but you still didn't use replies ಠ_ಠ
@HyperNeutrino oh, really? Cool!
@NewSandboxedPosts you just interrupted a conversation between golfers. Go sit in the corner.
That explains why I was so confused :P
@cairdcoinheringaahing ಠ/1ಠ why would you not reply to sandbox
8:37 PM
??????????????? brain explodes from emoji overload
@cairdcoinheringaahing a) ಠ is not an emoji. do not confuse the power of ಠ with the wimpiness of emojis. b) there were only two for heaven's sake ಠ_ಠ_ಠ_ಠ_ಠ
Now that was an emoji, probably, because I don't have enough Unicode to render it.
It was the combining with numbers that confused me
8:38 PM
emoji != emoticon
How do I post multiline code?
@cairdcoinheringaahing ಠ == 0 == o
@HyperNeutrino emoji != emಠticಠn
@Arjun same way you'd do it on main
8:39 PM
Or Ctrl-K turns the whole thing into code
@Arjun 4 spaces or Ctrl+K
@cairdcoinheringaahing what even is that?
@cairdcoinheringaahing enಠugh emojis
8:39 PM
@totallyhuman ninja'd
@MDXF you missed an o
@cairdcoinheringaahing nಠ I didn't
@cairdcoinheringaahing that's the point, he's saying "enough"
@HyperNeutrino How to enter newline. If I press Enter, the message is sent.
@Arjun shift-enter
8:40 PM
@totallyhuman enಠugh emojis! Mಠst peಠple can't see them
please stop sending so many emojis/extended unicode characters
:( I can't type <weird o> on mobile
8:40 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing BORK ALERT 🚨 BORK ALERT 🚨 BORK ALERT I feel very sorry for you
@MDXF no I CV'd you as a dupe of mine because yours is a subset of mine
@HyperNeutrino ಠ_ಠ

8:42 PM

@totallyhuman actually though stop, i might flag you if you don't stop and i don't feel nice
> whirrr-stop whirrrr-stop whirrrrr-stop
@HyperNeutrino I wasn't talking about emoji :P
@totallyhuman I know you weren't, but I didn't reply to that message

Glad I'm spending my last day on TNB spamming emoticons >.<
8:44 PM
can everyone just calm down with the weird characters please? it's not adding anything to this conversation... oh wait there was never an on-topic conversation in the first place
I think you mean "Płèàßé ńœ"
and fine
@MDXF lol oh yeah glad you had a good time here and maybe we might see you around sometime yay
>.> Too much salt I'm leaving
au revoir
I'm still debating whether or not I'm going to put in the effort to use TNB on my phone
8:44 PM
@MDXF TNB Bye Bye Party?
@cairdcoinheringaahing Is that a thing :P
Everything starts somewhere...
NVM I'm back <.<
@totallyhuman having trouble staying away from PPCG?
ಠ_ಠ I really need help finding Cubically algorithms if anyone wants to
8:47 PM
@HyperNeutrino always
@MDXF Do you have cube rotations?
@HyperNeutrino What do you mean?
@totallyhuman welcome to my life
@MDXF like, rotate the entire cube, not just a layer
8:47 PM
I was thinking of a new challenge: Where you have to write grammatically proper code with least amount of dependent code. Nothing will be allowed after the grammatically-proper-code-part. Extra points for proper punctuation and capitalization. Tie breaker will be popularity. Something like this:

def noop x = nil; end
alias a noop
alias happy noop
alias new noop
alias year! noop
def Have x
p Time.new.year

Have a happy new year!

[Code by Doorknob](https://codegolf.stackexchange.com/questions/17005/produce-the-number-2014-without-any-numbers-in-your-source-code/17010#17010)
Lowercase letters usually indicate cube rotations
@Arjun formatting does not work in multiline messages, just send as separate messages
@HyperNeutrino No, like I said that would be incredibly difficult and I don't want to have 15 bugs in the interpreter when I stop working on it
@totallyhuman no lowercase means double-layer rotations
@arjun someone's already posted that I thinl
8:48 PM
@MDXF do you at least have slices
@Arjun -1 No objective winning criteria

@MdXf just do this
@HyperNeutrino ...slices? c'mon, I taught myself cubing, I don't know any technical terms
make something up
@cairdcoinheringaahing Nah nobody would care :P

that got 99 upvotes
@MDXF if you leave just give me your rep

@Mendeleev I will try to come up with a score-calculating formula with certain weightage to proper punctuation and proper capitalization.
@MDXF I have a gud answer worthy of 500 rep
@Arjun That would work
@Christopher pls link and I'll determine :P
A: Turing complete language interpreter code golf

Christopherx86 assembly (Intel syntax/MASM)-Brainfuck 2547 bytes. Being honest here this can be golfed a good amount. I have golfed a large amount of bytes off but variable can still be golfed. However trying to golf the different names is a pain but would save only a small amount of bytes. This won't win...

Мне нужна репутация
8:54 PM
@MDXF you like self development of languages, give it to a new, unrecognised language answer
@Christopher Ehh... I'll spare an upvote. It doesn't have an explanation
Nor is it super-golfed
Golfing assembly is hard
I know
So is explaining assembly. Still :P

@totallyhuman Second's up.
@MDXF I knows Hindi :3
@totallyhuman s/I/Google\ Translate
>.> You think I'm lying
8:58 PM
@MdXF yep. The best way to begin an explanation
Lol it's one way to do it I guess
<.< I'm Indian, why would I not know Hindi
How would you do it?
@totallyhuman फिर, इसका अनुवाद करें
9:00 PM
CMC Output your gender. You're agreeing to be referred to as whatever the output is for the rest of your PPCG life.
@totallyhuman I know 10~ Indians in my school, none of them know Hindi
@MDXF True (male)
@cairdcoinheringaahing true there's lots of languages spoken in India
But I spent 7 years learning it so...
@cairdcoinheringaahing Explanation: :P
@Arjun then, understand this
Or close enough
It might've meant translate..? I it's been a while
9:02 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing Actually, Indians are everywhere. There's so many of us. Every seventh person is an Indian. :P
@MDXF where's the flair, the extravagance?
Explanation != flair/extravagance
@Arjun and every other 7th is Chinese
@totallyhuman True. (It's translate)
@cairdcoinheringaahing I was just going to say that.
9:03 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing India will surpass China by 2026
No I mean you're not supposed to introduce an explanation with flair or extravagance. You're just supposed to educate the reader about your language
you should explain your language with pride, flair and more pride
Besides, China is getting old. India is getting young.
>.> I need people to speak languages I know to practise
@Arjun they got rid of the 1 baby rule tho
@totallyhuman print("How about this?")
9:05 PM
Hard to come by people who speak Hindi in the US though
What about Python or Java? They're languages too
@totallyhuman Most of those who go there never come back....
@Arjun pls no I have no family here
I came here only for my education
@totallyhuman So you are really an Indian?
From which State?
Andhra Pradesh
Although now it's Telangana but whatever >.>
Stupid politics
9:11 PM
Ah, that's why you don't know Hindi very well. There's so many languages in India!
Did you watch today's match?
Oh yeah
So saddening
Jadeja should have sacrificed his wicket. Pandya was looking good. He could have at least got his hundered.
9:37 PM
Yay! @Adám 's Here!
@Arjun ?
Question: since the 'popular', browsers now all support ES6, can we just write "JavaScript" in our answers
Isn't there an ES7 already?
@Adám I just wanted to do something. The room was passive for a long time. I saw your avatar flying on the web page, so thought of welcoming you. :)
9:40 PM
@Arjun Namaste.
@Phoenix Yes, with minor upgrades.
@Adám What does that mean?
@Phoenix It is a common greeting in India.
@Adám Namaste. :)
9:41 PM
OK. So we're doing one more CMC before bedtime?
Apparently "Hello" is classified as a noun.
@Adám Is there one, or should we think of one?
@Phoenix I'm trying to think of one.
@Adám It's a common greeting only in some states of India. India has many languages. I know only Hindi, because I am a North Indian.
@Arjun Where are you from? (My knowledge of Indian geography is somewhat limited.)
CMC: Return the number of (virtual) processors.
CMC: Given ints a, b, c, solve for d in the following equation: c=(a+b)%d, given abcd are positive and a, b, c are less than d.
@Adám What does that mean?
9:46 PM
@Adám I am from Uttar Pradesh, but I reside temporarily in Madhya Pradesh because my father does a transferable job. We are going to settle in UP in about a month cuz my father's retiring.
@Phoenix A dual-core machine will usually report 4.
Because hyperthreading or something else?
@Phoenix Hyper-threading may double that.
@Phoenix Yeah, nothing fancy required here. Just return a number saying how many processors there appears to be.
TBH doesn't seem all that interesting.
@Arjun Where abouts in UP? I stayed in Mussoorie for a few days, before going to HP (Kulu valley) where we lived for a couple of months
@Phoenix Sorry about that. But, how short code can get that number?
9:49 PM
Hmm, something something pipe dxdiag into grep.
@Phoenix Well, there may be multiple ways to get it. Wanna know the APL answer?
CMC: Given a PPCG abbreviation, expand it with the help of this question's answer : codegolf.meta.stackexchange.com/questions/12537/…
@Phoenix APL, 6 bytes: 1111⌶⍬
APL seems to have a lot of builtins for things that make no sense.
9:51 PM
@Adám Kannauj.
A meta post about abbreviations?? No need to reinvent the we'll...
You only have so many symbols you can fit on a keyboard layout
@Adám You came to India! Wow!
@Arjun VTC as unclear. What exactly should we expand to? Up to the first punctuation after the intial colon?
@Phoenix Oh yeah? Challenge me! I've got like 250 so far. It isn't even beginning to fill up.
@Adám What are ⌶⍬ doing?
9:54 PM
@Arjun Eh, more than 1 out of every 7 people have been to India. But yeah, I liked it alot. people were so helpful.
@Adám Forget it! No one's gonna attempt it anyway :P
@Adám Is that including the people who live there?
I like how this got me 205 rep
There's an InverseFunction builtin. Obviously.
@Phoenix calls system related functions (I-beam; a pun on IBM). 1111 is parallel processors (get it? Four parallel lines). Giving it a numeric argument tell APL to use that many threads, giving it an empty vector argument () tells it to report how many exist.
9:56 PM
That would have saved me bytes >_<
@Phoenix Yes. Although it also seems that Israel's population is twice what's reported, as it seems that at any given time, half of their citizens are on vacation in India.
@Adám So, the 1111 is a single builtin symbol, as it was being used there?
@Adám I wish everyone in the country was like that.
Definitely, not the case :P
So where did this whole thing about India and Israel come from?
9:59 PM
See @Adám's latest message
@Phoenix Not really. is an operator (a higher order function) which gives a function as result. Which function it gives, depends on its operand (in this case the integer 1111). Then that derived function is called on .
