Besides, I'm pretty sure that using it to run random Mathematica programs probably violates the terms pretty badly

yeah that's very likely
I guess I'll stick to Hexagony then ;)

@MartinEnder You know, Hexagony on anarchy golf could be interesting

he added it today

Q: Quixels - Quantum Pixels

NonlinearFruitIntroduction A quixel is a quantum pixel. Similar to a classical pixel, it is represented with 3 integer values (Red, Green, Blue). However, quixels are in a super position of these 3 states instead of a combination. This super position only lasts until the quixel is observed at which point it c...

@MartinEnder Nice CMC! MATL, 18 bytes: '3.'0:99 -14YSVXzh

@Sherlock9 alright

@MartinEnder okay: cheddar 33 bytes: "3."+(14|>113).map(n->n%100).fuse. would be shorter but stuff is borked ;_;

i wish one day my name in the chat will be blue :):)

@DJMcMayhem you know, the kenny themed challenge

10:03 PM
@Downgoat how would that know to retain two digits for 100 to 109?

@MartinEnder n->n%100

@MartinEnder I actually created a challenge once, you should try it in Hexagony

@LeakyNun I mean the leading zero in 00 to 09

@MartinEnder oops, i'm out of here

10:04 PM
@ΛεγίωνΜάμμαλϠΨΠʹ thanks, I think I'll pass :P

@LuisMendo invalid

@ΛεγίωνΜάμμαλϠΨΠʹ What's with the "(luck)" on the shortest Python answers? Is that a library?

@LeakyNun Would you mind being a little more specific?

@LuisMendo 00010203040506070809 became 0123456789

@LeakyNun Thanks!

@El'endiaStarman no I think it means that it only happens to work for the given test cases or that some randomness is involved and the answer was just submitted a few times until it worked, afaik

@MartinEnder Huh, that's a little weird.

@LeakyNun I think it works now, for 19 bytes

@LuisMendo nice
@LuisMendo Is there an operator that converts [5,7,2] to [7,2]?

10:20 PM
@RohanJhunjhunwala halp how halp you

@Dennis :o only appears in the tutorial

@Dennis how do I check, if TIO is up to date? I think I do remember getting silos pulled, but I forget

@LeakyNun It's syntax, not an atom.

10:22 PM
@Dennis is there a way to check without having to ping you?

@RohanJhunjhunwala test which of your features are in the tio lol

@RohanJhunjhunwala Not really, no.

@RohanJhunjhunwala try using the latest feature you added

@Dennis oh, do you think you could check for me? Sorry.

Wasn't up-to-date, but only a text file changed.

10:23 PM
@Dennis ok, thanks

What's the cmc?

@LeakyNun oh ok
In other news. SILOS is verbose

@RohanJhunjhunwala what's the spaces for?

@LeakyNun sorry, too used to them
@LeakyNun can we break 100 bytes? silos.tryitonline.net/…

@LeakyNun Temporarily.

@RohanJhunjhunwala done

@Geobits I have a return trip, you know...

@LeakyNun it seems like it could be useful, but then again it detracts from the spirit of the GOTO spaghetti

@Geobits I have a return trip, you know...

Anonymous
I have to be at the airport at 5:30 AM tomorrow. It's an hour drive...

@Mego Umm... yeah but it isn't your first plane ride. Everyone knows that people only die on their first flight. Uh, yeah.
4

10:42 PM
@Geobits oh yeah. I died on my first flight. I wouldn't suggest it.
2

@LeakyNun You need indexing for that: 4L). 4L is a predefined literal that means "from second element to last"

Anonymous
@Geobits Sounds like the people who say you can't get pregnant your first time

Anonymous
@DanTheMan California

@Mego Are you saying you can? Whew, I dodged a bullet on that one.

@LuisMendo I see

Anonymous
10:43 PM
@Geobits I didn't mean plane rides, but I'm not sure which you meant

@Mego California is a big state, but at least you've narrowed your location down from within 1 AU.

@Mego They both happened at the same time, so >_>
Well, not really.
That would've been weird, since the first time I flew was when I was two or so.

@Geobits hahaha

@LeakyNun maybe matlab uses imaginary numbers to denote indices?

This convo just keeps on getting better

10:45 PM
And I haven't even been drinking :)

Anonymous
@Geobits That sounds like a problem to be fixed

Seriously, Actually is a better esolang name than Request.
Seriously too.

@ReleasingHeliumNuclei Precisely.

@Mego It's not quite seven here. Haven't had dinner yet, so I'll wait a bit.

10:47 PM
@LeakyNun Haha. Complex numbers are used for that kind of indexing in MATL. 4L gives [2+0i, 0+1i], that is, [2, 1i]. 1i means "end", that is, the final element. If you wanted say elements from 2 to second-last you'd use [2, -1+1i]. That -1+1i means the last element minus 1. Does that make sense?

who flagged that

@ConorO'Brien That would be a good language name too!

@DanTheMan California, Mars

@LuisMendo wow

@Geobits It's 3:45 PM here and I'm considering going down to the bar. That interview was rough.

@LuisMendo In other words, magic

@Mego Right, but I've got a kid in the house :P

@ReleasingHeliumNuclei It becomes intuitive with practice :-D

Anonymous
@Geobits Fly less?

10:49 PM
I've run out of stars for today. :(

@Mego Just the one kid, so it's all good lol.

Anonymous
@Geobits My wife is upset about all the flying I'm doing without her

@ConorO'Brien Yep :-D But it's MATL, not Matlab. Matlab uses end, so it's more easily read: x(2:end-1) etc

@LuisMendo oh, fantastic.

@ConorO'Brien Nope. It uses integer indices: x([1 2 4 5]). Or end-based indices: x(2:end-1). Or logical indices, that act as a mask: x([true true false true true]) removes the third element

10:50 PM
ah
so matlab doesn't use imaginary indices?

@Mego That's quite understandable. At least you're flying alone though, right?

Anonymous
She wanted to come to California too, but Google only pays for accommodations for one unless there are serious oustanding circumstances.

Anonymous
@Geobits Actually I flew with a bunch of people last night, and will be doing it again in a few hours.

@Mego serious outstanding issues? like what? o.O

10:52 PM
@Mego Well, don't wear yourself out, and be safe :D

@LuisMendo whoa, very cool

Anonymous
@ConorO'Brien I dunno. Probably kids and/or medical reasons.

Anonymous
@Geobits Of course. Seat belts save lives.

@ConorO'Brien Nope. It uses integer indices: x([1 2 4 5]). Or end-based indices: x(2:end-1). Or logical indices, that act as a mask: x([true true false true true]) removes the third element
(sorry for posting twice)
My browser is acting up

@ConorO'Brien I said "wtf" expanded and got flagged

@LeakyNun really? that's stupid. who flagged that?

You were using the ternary operator to choose the character, no? — Leaky Nun 42 secs ago

@quartata rip pacifist runs

@ConorO'Brien how do I know

11:23 PM
I don't
anyone want to speak up?

^^^^^ Ternary is shorter on C :D

@Doorknob ?
How does water have anything to do with that?

I think it's unlikely that you'll stumble across enough randomly generated potions if the timeout is that low

Oh, I'm adding other ways to get it.

Ah okay
Well then I can't really answer your question without further context :P

11:26 PM
The first way is to apply an empty bottle to a natural patch of water (which I'll increase the spawn rate on)
You can get dysentery from this though (haven't decided the probability) if you don't use a water filter on it

Very nice :D

Why does this not work:
i;f(n){for(i=n;i--;)puts("/\\"[n%2]);}
@DJMcMayhem Is that a compliment or criticism?

The other way is a transpiration bag which is very slow but can generate water
Also I'll have a camel pack (which keeps you hydrated as long as it has water in it) and a ring of succulent form (equivalent of ring of slow digestion)
I'm also modifying the starting inventories for all the classes to start with plenty of water.
Well, not plenty. I'm thinking 4-5 bottles.
But definitely enough not to die right away.

@LeakyNun "/\\"[n%2] returns char, puts() expects char*

@ReleasingHeliumNuclei so I just put a wrapper or what

11:31 PM
@LeakyNun you know char* iş string right

@ReleasingHeliumNuclei yeş

:32017070 accidently tapped return
@LeakyNun ;_;

@LeakyNun is this new? what does it do?

@ConorO'Brien I believe it's a 2-char string

@ConorO'Brien it creates a 2-character string literal
it is only documented in the tutorial

11:32 PM
wow, that's pretty nifty

@Adnan the ninja...

:)

@ConorO'Brien I just learnt it today from Dennis

we're all learning today \o/

@LeakyNun char a[]={"/\\"[n%2], '\0'}; puts(a); would work

11:33 PM
@ReleasingHeliumNuclei ok

Why doesn't lambda n: '/\\'[n%2]*n work?

@DanTheMan because it is '\/'?

nvm, it does work

@LeakyNun Thanks - it was a problem I've been meaning to post on PPCG for a while now, but it's a bit annoying to explain so I figured the "infer from test cases" approach of anagol was a bit more suitable here

11:42 PM
@Sp3000 which I did use in my new challenge
You see, you just have to do it properly

Er... "Given positive integer n, if n is odd, repeat / that many times; if n is even, repeat \ that many times." is a pretty succinct explanation if you ask me
Explaining square ice as well as alternating sign matrices in a bulletproof way though... the post gets long pretty quickly
