@flawr So if the optimal solution is 10 red pixels, and you have 11, that's quite bad. But if the optimal solution is 1,000,000 red pixels and you have 1,000,001, that's excellent. Just summing the scores would treat those two cases equally, but your log approach rewards the second test case much more, as it should be

aka, negative numbers still means "less than" but whether your compare function returns -5 vs -1, it'll try to use that information to estimate (and get fewer comparisons on average)

@flawr I think just taking the product of the scores might be good enough. This means being 10% more than an opponent's score will have a similar effect on your overall score regardless of the size of the test case.
