@TùxCräftîñg

i dont find anything that can help me in itertools .__.

itertools.combinations
dangit
my program converged with an actual answer
deletes and tries again

done \o/ thx

yay
how long?
@TùxCräftîñg

i didnt golfed it ._.

2:07 PM
that's fine
can I see the code?
Maybe I can help golf.

174 bytes golfed
import itertools
def luck(s):
 luckn=2**max([j-i for i,j in itertools.combinations(range(6),2)if"lucky"[i:j]in s]+[0])
 for c in s:
  if c in "omen": luckn -= 2
 return luckn
forgotten to shorten varnames
._.

import itertools
def f(s):
 n=2**max([j-i for i,j in itertools.combinations(range(6),2)if"lucky"[i:j]in s]+[0])
 for c in s:
  if c in "omen": n -= 2
 return n

@TùxCräftîñg from itertools import * helps a lot

2:10 PM

Q: Do not repeat yourself

Eᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏ IʀᴋInspired by this challenge Given a number m, output a program that prints out the string Do not repeat yourself. Now for the challenging part: Each program the original code prints out has to have the byte at place m*n be the same as m*n + 1 and the same as m*n + 2 .... all the way down to m*n ...

@TùxCräftîñg hahahahaha we used teh same idea
from itertools import *
lambda x: 2**max([b-a for a,b in combinations(range(6),2)if'lucky'[a:b]in x]+[0])-2*sum([y in'omen'for y in x])("lucky")
144

agh too hard
ayyyy that lucky challenge is mine

lambda s:2**max([j-i for i,j in itertools.combinations(range(6),2)if"lucky"[i:j]in s]+[0])-sum(c in"omen"for c in s)

@charredgrass yep
@TùxCräftîñg
from itertools import *
def f(s):
 return 2**max([j-i for i,j in combinations(range(6),2)if"lucky"[i:j]in s]+[0])-sum([2*(c in'omen')for c in s])
@TùxCräftîñg down to 136 on your program
from itertools import *
lambda s:2**max([j-i for i,j in combinations(range(6),2)if"lucky"[i:j]in s]+[0])-sum([2*(c in'omen')for c in s])

your challenge seem hard ._.

2:15 PM
from itertools import*
lambda s:2**max([j-i for i,j in combinations(range(6),2)if"lucky"[i:j]in s]+[0])-sum(c in'omen'for c in s)*2

nice
@muddyfish i got that on hte end when I pasted it in.
._.

poor you

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ do you have steam?

yes

with small caps

2:26 PM
I'll send a friend request :)
done

I use my 'halloween' avatar all the time on steam

I remodel my Steam profile way too much
like, too many showcases to change
:P

aha! Beat @El'endiaStarman's time.

I don't have a Steam profile.

2:33 PM
that's okay

You were dueling in time?

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ you need to golf down your time

Could someone add me to The Nineteenth Byte steam group?

Or what it is?

2:34 PM
there;s a Nineteenth byte steam group? sign me up

there is a steam group for TNB ?

@TùxCräftîñg Yeah! :D

please add me :D TheKsp25

@charredgrass just beat him by 25 seconds.

Q: Decompose string into blocks

Ewan DelanoyYour program's input is a string containing whitespaces, parentheses, and other characters. The string is assumed to be parenthesed correctly, i.e. each right parenthesis matches a unique left parenthesis and vice versa : so the program is allowed to do anything on incorrectly parenthesed strings...

@AlexA. Assuming you're alex on TNB steam group, could you add me?

@charredgrass sure

@AlexA. Can you add me to the Steam group? profile

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ here is your ping for absolutely no reason, as requested on your profile

2:41 PM
thx
@charredgrass I have to say, you have epic tf2 items.

Thanks, lol

@charredgrass sent

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ the TF2 items only set me back around $300 :P

.-.
@charredgrass would you trade the unique rainblower you have?

sure
(it's worth like half a cent)

2:49 PM
ik
but I can't find one, and want one

you know what, just take it for free
check your trade offers

hi all

I never use the rainblower, it lags the crap out of my game

hi

@Lembik hi

2:53 PM
I am wondering if anyone is working on codegolf.stackexchange.com/questions/84592/…

@Lembik hi part of all

It would be great if you could make a note saying "thinking about this problem"
:)

@Lembik I've had it in the back of my mind but still not great at that kind of stuff :P

@charredgrass thanks!
@charredgrass o_O
how/why

2:54 PM
@charredgrass ah..well that's good. If I can help make anything clear please let me know
@charredgrass I even have a suggestion for how to win :)

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Pyrovision kills my graphics, bad GPU on my laptop. I use an aussie flamethrower anyways

oic
yeah, saw that.
nice gear

@Lembik I feel like I could use regex somehow but suck too much at it :P

@charredgrass dang, for someone with only 211 hours of tf2, you have lots of stuff

@charredgrass I think a greedy approach will do well

3:00 PM
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Yeah... I actually just write a lot of code for Steam/TF2 related projects and get given items sometimes for shitty node.js code

wow

@muddyfish ?

hats for bad code? sounds like a great idea

thank you for the upvotes whoever you are
my challenging is quickly entering the hall of fame of most upvoted unanswered questions :)

x = 9, y = 4, rule = B3/S23
bo$9o$2b7o$2bo5bo!

3:05 PM
which is a shame as I think a relatively simple strategy would be competitive

how long does a bounty last?

7 days

ninja'd

it says on the question how much longer there is
why do you ask?

oh just wondering. I might do it tomorrow since I have work next week then, or slack off at work when I get bored with the HTML crap they make me do as an intern :P

3:09 PM
@charredgrass great! As it stands any answer at all will win the bounty :)

Challenge idea: decrypt the extended Welscher format.

@charredgrass o_O
what kind of code
i should do that

trading bots and crap
Pretty simple node.js stuff

oic
@charredgrass you want to play tf2 sometime? Not this week, I'll be gone, but next week?

the hard part is that Steam sucks and there's tons of errors

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Sure! I've got work on weekdays, but I'd love to play, especially because of this new big update

I call complete BS on the media currently flipping their sh*t about Pokemon Go. People die! Teen discovers body! I mean, there are so much more Ingress players (atm). I don't remember ever reading something like this about Ingress...

@mınxomaτ Go has more attention. People are excited for the game so there's more exposure than Ingress

@charredgrass :D to the playing, D: to the update
NOOOO
UPDATE IS AWFUL
UPDATE IS AWWWFUULLL

haven't tried it yet
I heard they ruined pubs

3:17 PM
0/10

Well, PG places Pokemon in ridiculous places (like in the middle of the highway). Ingress places targets at places where humans are supposed to go. So maybe there's something to it.

@mınxomaτ True. Also the places in Ingress don't move, right?

Yeah. That's the point. You meet (and fight) people at the target.

@charredgrass specifically they killed the old quickplay method (for the most part).
everything is matchmaking now, so it can take like 20 min to get into a game
:/

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ A valve employee posted on reddit that they were going to scrap that for casual since it was so bad

3:19 PM
I finally saw community ads.
These include Downgoat's stolen ad, so how to completely hide the community ads?

uhh
you could probably AdBlock -> block element it
or if you use a CSS applying extension like me, display:none it

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 Stop it already with the artificial drama!
7

@charredgrass ?

Is there a way for mods to immediately make the undelete votes decay? :|

3:36 PM
@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 ?

Well, nothing, now that I completely overhauled the advert.

@charredgrass ?

Warning: the advert has been completely overhauled. — zyabin101 1 min ago

0/10 now looks just weird

This idea is intended to be finally copy righted, so that it doesn't "look weird".

you can't do that
it's a CCA thing

It's a very insecure license, not recommended for advertisements.

@aditsu o_O TIL i ignored NewMainPosts somehow

So, I'm looking to working around this license to make the idea unable to be stolen.

3:43 PM
fixed
@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 You can't.
Now stop.
Seriously.

also you were wrong in about 5 different ways

Alright then, I'll delete my advert again.

"Also, x needs to be >1" - "x is the sum of the lengths of all of the correct programs it outputs "

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ You can if you believe.

You can't copyright ideas

@Fatalize Of course you should be able to.

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 no you shouldn't

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ see above and try to logic

Content should already have defaulted to CC-BY-ND, the safest license in the world.

You can patent the techniques to make a flying car but you can't patent the idea of the flying car

3:48 PM
Not just on SE, but anywhere in the world.

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 If you didn't want anyone else to use and have your ad, why did you make it for the community?
Seems like there's a disconnect there

110, 158, 203, 205, 220, 234, 334, 398

congrats \o/

@LegionMammal978 ??

R-pentomino

I still don't get it. ._.

@LegionMammal978 nice! But i thihk you need like 200M to make an iron man movie

B3/S23

3:58 PM
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I'm not sure if I understand your challenge. Could you provide an example and the score it gets?

@aditsu can I use your program as an example?

Also, I'm still calling it "portable".
:P

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I don't think that's necessary.. also I just noticed the linked question which has more and better examples

4:01 PM
@LegionMammal978 I don't get the connection between [110, 158, 203, 205, 220, 234, 334, 398], an ascii art, an R pentomino, and B3/S23. :|

The linked question is very different.

well, my answer (without the quotes) works for that question

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 They're permutations of the R-pentomino, art representing the R-pentomino, the R-pentomino, and the rule for Life.
(Happy now?)

4:07 PM
cheddar> [1,3].len

:D :D :D :D I fixed cyclic dependnecies1!!!!!1
    get Scope() {
        return require('../../../stdlib/primitive/Array/lib');
    }
do i get reward for most hacky solution of 2016? :3

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ what if our program works on every single input. Does that mean our score is infinity / infinity == ??? 0?

@DrGreenEggsandIronMan didn't you see the min?

Drat
So it's not in our best interest to try to get more inputs right?

not more than 10, I guess

4:21 PM
cheddar> var a = [1,2,3]
cheddar> a
[1, 2, 3]
cheddar> a.push(4)
4
cheddar> a
[1, 2, 3, 4]
\o/ \o/ \o/

@Downgoat Now add pop, insert, and remove.

should there be a replace function?

Yeah, there should.

i.e. a.replace(1, foo) is equal to a[1] = foo
idk since the latter
i guess i need regexes as the last thing but idk how to lexer them

Now add pop, rock and disco.

4:25 PM
Can you add a function to cheddar that makes nachos?

cheddar->melt()

@aditsu nah, im not a that big a fan of disco

cheddar->maim()

@quartata I'm using . not -> >_>

cheddar->slice&dice()

4:26 PM
@quartata ;_; y u do dis

lots of potential here
@Downgoat Hey, I'm not one to tell the public how to eat their cheese. I'm just trying to provide lots of options

@Downgoat just start with the basics, you can add EDM later :p

@aditsu aaahhhh nooooooooo, whyyyy o_o

(EDM stands for EDaM)

still not cheddar >_>

4:28 PM
I'm officially a robot.

@DrGreenEggsandIronMan congrats on 8k!

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 i thought you were a unipants.

I'm now not a robot \o/

Well I'm leaving now, see you in a week!
bai!

4:30 PM
@Downgoat when could you come to the zyabinVI room?

soon, almost done with cheddar :D

BAI! Have fun!

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I have to say, I've started noticing Bai drinks in a lot of places ever since you've embarked on this advertising campaign....

I thought bai only had horses in their advertising campaign, not cats... TIL

I wouldn't know I've never tasted it nor have I seen any ads for it
But in the past 3 months I've started seeing it more which makes me very suspicious
The timing is too close

is there a more golfy way to do:
a = -a;
oh yeah, Math.abs >_>

But abs is always positive
a=-a inverts the sign

yeah but I have conditional to see if a < 0

5:05 PM
oh ok

@Downgoat uhhh Math.abs(a) is longer than a=-a

but in cheddar you can do abs a

That's still longer

oh wait that's still the name >_>

5:11 PM

Anyways, I have apparently just been invited to trash...Now I wonder who did that. -_-

5:51 PM
El'endia

@R.Kap The SE chat system automatically does that whenever any of your messages have been moved to a different room.

Yeah, I was being sarcastic
I know it was @El'endiaStarman

Pro tip: ignore any invitation to Trash.

(deromver)

5:54 PM
I did not...I saw it all...°_°

@TùxCräftîñg Well, no one cares if you spam Trash (or the Sandbox [chat room], for that matter). :P

@Fatalize Don't worry about that. I wrap most interpreters in a shell script to make them compatible with the backend.

@Dennis I was more thinking about the interface of the page

@TùxCräftîñg Yeah, good tip.

@Fatalize The frontend just communicates with the backend, which in turn communicates with the interpreter.
