7:00 PM
no
after the holmes and moriaty
@El'endiaStarman I almost got squished by the mashy thingy, if that helps.

Hmm, there were a lot of mashy thingys...

the first ones

@El'endiaStarman the part where you're in the middle of a bunch of mashy things

The Part Where He Kills You
^^

Oh yeah!
I remember that.

7:01 PM
one of my favorite parts of portal was actually the user levels

haven't done those yet

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Yeah.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Yes.

7:02 PM
I wouldn't be using it otherwise. :P

@El'endiaStarman ninja'd

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 extra confirmation helps.

TIL make sure the portal sticks before you come out the ceiling above a pit. :P

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Long answer: yes, but workspaces stop working after 7 days of inactivity. To have workspaces working anytime is paid.

400 bronze medals I have :J
4

7:03 PM
@NathanMerrill Yeah, the level creator is pretty cool. I didn't do much with it beyond making a three-way toggle of sorts.

Resizing workspaces is paid, too.

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 so, after they are inactive, what happens?

I didn't actually use it either

but some of the levels people made were fun

7:04 PM
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ After 7 days of inactivity, they hibernate.

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 are the not usable?

I.e., three lasers where the first one was active initially. When you block that laser, the second one activates. Block the second and the third activates. Block the third and the first activates.
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ It's more in the sense that if you host anything like a public web page on C9, it won't stay up indefinitely.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ They are after they hibernate, but the next run of the IDE into a hibernated workspace will take a longer time.

7:05 PM
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Ah yes, the ' thing. I see that relatively often too. :P

Oh, right! XD

That is used to wake the workspace up again, showing a nag screen.

@HelkaHomba yeah, saw that.

That suggests you to upgrade to have workspaces working anytime.

7:06 PM
have 5 rep

hey, aren't the rules of logic fundamental?

aka, is it possible to make a different set of rules of logic?

But aside that, you have a small amount of memory and disk space that you are free to use.
Including runners for many main stream langs.

7:07 PM
I mean, we could make a different equality table, but that's really just different names for things

@NathanMerrill What do you mean?

well, for example, in math, we make certain assumptions about the Cartesian plane

Interesting fact: My Stack Exchange profile hides communities that I have 101 rep and no rep changes on.

@NathanMerrill The logic system we use is just one of many potential formal systems, each of which can prove different things, however they all have the same limitations from the incompleteness results.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ To Bob or not to Bob...

7:09 PM
Currently I have 4 communities hidden.

@FryAmTheEggman what's a different formal system?

This is a list of formal systems, also known as logical calculi. == Mathematical == Domain relational calculus, a calculus for the relational data model Functional calculus, a way to apply various types of functions to operators Join calculus, a theoretical model for distributed programming Lambda calculus, a formulation of the theory of reflexive functions that has deep connections to computational theory Matrix calculus, a specialized notation for multivariable calculus over spaces of matrices Modal μ-calculus, a common temporal logic used by formal verification methods such as model checking...

I was just bobby trapped by Straw Polls Featured Polls asking me to choose a Pokemon GO starter.

Hopefully you answered correctly: Squirtle.

I did play Pokemon previously, so the I don't play Pokemon... choice doesn't make sense for me.

7:12 PM
@Geobits You mean Charmander, surely?

@FryAmTheEggman that's way above my understanding. What does A -> (B -> A) mean

I feel like I'm the only person I've met who picked bulbasaur :[

@HelkaHomba Pfft, lil flametail? Nah, he gets sick if he even gets wet.

Err, ok lemme try to find a simple one, maybe that will help. FYI a really good book that mentions this kind of stuff is en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%B6del,_Escher,_Bach

@Geobits You can't even hug a squirtle. It'd be like hugging a mailbox.

7:14 PM
oooh

@El'endiaStarman What's c9?

@FryAmTheEggman does it mean that if A is true, that A is true no matter what B is?

@HelkaHomba I don't usually hug things when they're on fire, either. Having charmander around is a guaranteed way to never be allowed home insurance.

Ah, this question is about a very underdeveloped system involving only a few operations.

What to do: choose I don't play Pokemon... and waste my only vote on this poll, but get out the bobby trap and be able to ask/answer polls again.

7:15 PM
You don't have to answer it at all...

Good, so I'll have to wait until a featured poll that is good to answer for me.

Squirtle is the best, end of story.

Thank you. Someone with some sense :D

How could you not hug him?
He's the most huggable

I'd choose Bulbasaur if I played PkMn GO, but I don't.

7:17 PM
@BusinessCat meow
i am more huggable than any pokemon

I doubt that. Cats have always seemed to hate hugs in my experience.

@Geobits It's no more dangerous than a large candle. And barbecuing things would be a cinch.

@HelkaHomba A large candle that moves around on its own? Yes, that sounds safe >_>
It wouldn't be so bad if he could control it more. But no, if his tail goes out he dies.
How sad is that?

Very sad

7:20 PM
@NathanMerrill Do you mean the -> thing? Where did you get it from? In normal logic the -> means "implies" so that would mean A is true only if ( B is true only if A is true ) which is always true

@El'endiaStarman @NathanMerrill @DrGreenEggsandIronMan and @quartata: Portal 2 finished.
@HelkaHomba need 2 more gold and 1 more silver. :P

17 mins ago, by Cᴏɴᴏʀ O'Bʀɪᴇɴ
it's a tie :/

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ How does small caps?

@FryAmTheEggman right.
that's what I was saying in human english

I am going to generate a random dictionary word.

"segment" ._.

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ OS X only ;_;

are you on windows?

but @CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ has a windows one i think

@NathanMerrill Alright, then I think I'm confused about what you are asking :P
@orlp can't that be speedrun in a couple minutes because of the register bug?

7:29 PM
@FryAmTheEggman I was initially asking what it meant, but I figured it out (I think)

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ you should name it Bob
5/4

Ah, OK, that's good then :P

An almost-Rubik's cube in Minecraft :D
(Though the better video qualities are still processing :/)

Thumbnail looks like a cornell box

no subtitles and with my bad english i dont understand anything :/

7:33 PM
@NathanMerrill If you want to read more I found the wiki article: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Material_conditional

@TùxCräftîñg @HelkaHomba should speak French to do French sub titles :|
But he can do English sub titles and let Google Translate do the rest.

no i ~understand english but not oral english

Q: The Camouflage Color Changing Chameleon Challenge

user2428118Chameleon challenges are a bad thing, apparently. Too bad, chameleons are beautiful creatures. Time for a change! As we all know, many chameleons posses a remarkable ability to blend in with their surroundings by changing the color of their skin. Which is also the objective of this challenge. ...

However, I don't think if Helka talks heavily in his videos, at least moderately.

I talk a lot in them but at least for the tutorials you can follow along visually

7:36 PM
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ please pull

Good, you can do sub titles for some of the videos where you talk a lot.
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ search I don't see something to pull. What exactly do you want to pull?

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 dude. I'm not asking you to pull anything.

But what do you want Riker to pull?

another language design question: variables/parameters can be defined as "readonly", which defines that you can only call the "read" functions. Should "readonly" be added by default for parameters on non-pure functions?

(Easterly Irk = Riker, you get it?)

7:38 PM
if that was too terse, sorry

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 (a) none of your business. (b) yes, I do know his name.

like const parameters in C/C++ ?

aka, if you pass a list to a function, the function isn't allowed to call list.add() unless you add "write" to the parameter
not sure how const works in C++

consts pointers disallow setting the value under the pointer

yeah, this is a bit different
def magicFunc(list:List){
    list.add(1)
}
aka, the above is invalid
def magicFunc(list: List@write){
    list.add(1)
}
but that is valid

7:43 PM
I think the problem with doing that is if having a copy of the value simplifies your code, but you don't want to overwrite the value that was passed, you have to copy it out in the function. It seems like it would be kind of a gotcha?

@HelkaHomba I just saw "The Camouflage Color Changing Chameleon Challenge" in my inbox and was seriously surprised that it isn't one of yours ;)

@FryAmTheEggman you'd have to copy it anyways, right?

What’s a ridiculously small URL shortener?

so more like immutable bindings in Rust

@Lynn bit.ly, v.tk

7:44 PM
I know some people here know a couple.

@xnor I also considered mentioning that while it was in the sandbox, but I was sort of worried it might be a dupe of the "do something and also mean" challenges.
Re: the chameleon challenge is a chameleon challenge ;)

v.tk redirects me to a bunch of spam sites?

CONGRATULATION: YOU ARE THE LUCKY VISITOR :D
.___.

oops
wrong site I guess

7:46 PM
@TùxCräftîñg You do not feel lucky?

> CONGRATULATION

@Adnan I think I'm done... if you beat my Retina answer now, I'm pretty sure I won't be able to shave off any further bytes.

You just got $1000000 and you only have to pay $3000 for the transaction, that means you still get to keep $997000!!

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

Dopappcode-golf string Golf a String Everybody loves golfing code. Code is written in English (eh...). Therefore, everybody loves golfing English! Your task is to write a program or function that takes a string as input, and then returns or prints the golfed version. This is how you golf a string: ...

@TùxCräftîñg I'm looking, but I can't tell: can Rust define certain functions at mutating functions?

7:48 PM
@NathanMerrill for example, you cannot push on a vector if the binding is immutable
you have to define it as mut

right, but how does it know that a vector.push is a mutating function?

idk ._.

but effectively, yes

i am searching in the source

@FryAmTheEggman any% can
they run all castles

7:50 PM
Ah, ok, sure

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Belated "Yes, I use Windows"

@MartinEnder Yeah, I think I am stuck at 46. I'm going to try some different methods, but I don't think I can beat 44, so congrats :).

pub fn push(&mut self, value: T)
clever

i have forgotten the &mut

7:52 PM
Rust is really a great language

but sometimes the borrow checker is silly .___.

Sweet :D
So how do I use this?

look at the readme

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I wrote that EULA with the intent that it be spread amongst multiple servers.
