deja vu

@LuisMendo no downvotes?

@LuisMendo i don't think its the OP because IIRC he left a positive comment on Dennis' Jelly answer asking for an explanation

He didn't downvote J which is kinda amusing

12:03 AM
it's probably our friend again

The answers in Jelly, Pyth, MATL have been downvoted
@quartata Yes, I thought the same :-)
They probably consider that a serious language

It is a serious language?

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Huh? Is he/she well known?

If it's the same dude from last time, he's learned that J is real by now :P

@Adnan Kinda yeah

@Adnan YES! Come to the glory of functional programming!

It's a weird case

Nice. That's way better.

@quartata infrequently. You mean using asm(...)?

12:13 AM
@FryAmTheEggman yeah

@LuisMendo What are the preinitialized variables? O=0 I=3, ... ?

I'm using GNU assembler but it doesn't seem to like my hexadecimal literals:

Well, no promises but I can try ;)

asm("outb $0x3D4 $0x0F");
asm("outb $0x3D5 %0"::"r"(pos & 0xFF));
asm("outb $0x3D4 $0x0E");
asm("outb $0x3D5 %0"::"r"((pos >> 8) & 0xFF));
Error: junk '$0x0F' after expression

lel it called your code junk :P

12:15 AM
That is how you do hexadecimal literals correct?
I might be using outb wrong dunno

@quartata does it work if you use decimal?

Uh, I thought you just wrote hex literals like FFh? This is for intel, right?

GNU Assembler

@Maltysen Get ready to FGITW that I guess. I'm about to post any second

@DrGreenEggsandIronMan These are the predefined clipboard contents:
Then there are l for 1 and O for 0. They are functions, but by default produce those scalars.
And then there are functions that simply produce predefined literals. These are X1 through Z9 (not all have been defined yet). For example, X1 gives literals handy for specifying output format:
X1  predefined literals
    1;  1
    predefined literal depending on input. 1: 'bank', 2: 'compact',
    3: 'hex', 4: 'short', 5: 'shortg', 6: 'long', 7: 'longg', 8:
    'loose', 9: 'rat', 10: 'longe', 11: 'longeng', 12: 'shorte', 13:
    'shorteng'
Oh and YP produes pi
And YY produces inf (infinity)
I think those are all

12:20 AM
nvm I think I'm using outb wrong

@HelkaHomba I posted so fast, that SE thought I was a bot and made me do a captcha :P

Helka HombaWell, sum it down really. IIRC one of the early Mac OS upgrades went "gold master" with a not-so-well-hidden EasterEgg of a seminude. The clown that did it was fired; Apple had to kill all copies in existence and regression test the cleaned OS master at rather some cost.

or just any mini challenge
cause i'm bored

Can't think of one right now...

9:20 AM
@Katenkyo Are you still here?

@LeakyNun Want some help golfing it down?

Need to go back in the challenge, can't understand my choices right now ^^
SO let me some time to work on that :p
Hum, effectively, I was dumb when writing this Oo
Thanks for the comments, I'll edit the post !
and wouldn't have think of the #b:gsub(a,"")>0 trick alone ^^

9:37 AM
@Katenkyo Wouldn't it save one byte to use p=print?

It does, but I'm trying to change my way of outputting, may gain some bytes ^^
nevermind it doesn't, as I have to write p=print;, else it would try to use p=print(...):gsub()

oh...

Exit codes are valid output, right?

well, not sure

they write to stderr, valid output is usually stdout

9:47 AM
because I could do o=os.exit;(...):gsub("(.)(.+)%1",function(a,b)if 0<#b:gsub(a,"")then o(1)end end)o(0)
Gonna dig the meta

A: Default for Code Golf: Input/Output methods

RainboltPrograms may output using their exit code... ... if and only if the challenge requires an integer as output, obviously. Exit codes are basically a return value for programs. If functions can output using their return values, it makes sense that programs should be able to do the same. Examples:...

I can :D
so no need for the i=#0 @LeakyNun

@HelkaHomba Not surprised :P at first I wasn't bothered to golf mine properly because I knew it just took a better language to beat it, although tbh I am a bit surprised said language is PHP
Still think there's surely better though, but as I said lack of newlines is a pain

10:03 AM
Hafta go, have a nice day guys!

@Katenkyo BAI

@LeakyNun Not-so-mini challenge: Given a list of integer pairs, assign each pair an operator out of +-* so that the results after applying the operator to each pair results in a different answer, or print something to indicate the task is impossible. e.g. for [[1,2], [3,4], [5,6]] you can do +-* since 1+2, 3-4, 5*6 all give different results, but you can't do --* since 1-2 == 3-4.
And by not-so-mini challenge I mean: not code-golf, try to find an efficient algorithm :P

@Sp3000 :- use_module(library(clpfd)).
a(L,Z):-maplist(b,L,Z),all_different(Z).
b([A,B],I):-I#=A+B;I#=A-B;I#=A*B.
This doesn't return the operator though, only the results of the operation on each pair
and it's efficient cause it uses constraint programming :p

o___O

Note that SWISH is a limited edition of Prolog, and I'm sure that's very limited.

Q: Confirm illuminati with code golf!

Matthew RohIn this code golf: You have to confirm the mysterious illuminati! /\ / O\ / \ ------ (No,This is not the question.) You have to input a number, and do random calculations until the answer is 3. Input Example. 10 Output Example. 10 + 5 = 15 15 - 7 = 8 8 / 2 = 4 4 % 3 = 1 1 * 2 = 2 2 ...

@Sp3000 this looks like an instance of maximum matching on a bipartite graph, which can be done in polynomial time
is that enough to call it efficient?

Yeah, that was basically the intended answer :)

10:40 AM

run a([[1,2],[3,4],[5,6]],Z). as a query in bottom right for example

I'm honestly impressed Prolog lets you do that :)

this works roughly the same way in Brachylog: :{+.|-.|*.}a.d.
run_from_atom(':{+.|-.|*.}a.d.',[[1:2]:[1:2]:[1:2]],Z).
Z = [3, -1, 2] .
=> +,-,*
outputting the operators is annoying :p

@Mego functions don't have to be assignable.
if a language supports goto doesn't that make things reusable?
actually, lets say I make a language where you can assign statements to a variable. a = if (b) { code }. Wouldn't that make it a function under our guidelines
it would look around for a variable b under the current scope (or maybe in the declaring scope, doesn't matter), then call the code

I voted for the answer that sounded logical in your strawpoll, Rainbolt, but I don't use enums in Python so my vote could be based on faulty logic

@Rainbolt Depends, does anything else uses that enum?

@Bálint Yes. I should have said that it is public
Did I screw up the poll?
Private enums go with the only class that uses them, and I thought that was just a given
Actually... can you even make an enum private an declare it outside of a class?
@Bálint Okay, you can make enums private if you declare it inside of a class, but not outside of a class. So your question is answered by default.

@Rainbolt Where's the answer for "Wherever PowerShell or .NET decide to stick 'em?" ;-)
