I can't go much higher than that, because the rationals blow up fast
 
4/(x+y) seems to converge to sqrt(2) somewhere between 1/8 and 3/8 from each end, I think...
But I don't see where it's converging to in the center.
 
Okay, I just confirmed this: for even n (in my program), the center bulges up. For odd n, it dips down.
Which makes sense, given the latest plot I posted.
