Don't be mean @Dennis. We can hope. :P — RikerW 35 mins ago
Dennis?

Also @CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ the background colors (at least for me) doesn't seem to go all the way: it turns back into the regular blue and white past the questions list

I'm not Dennis >_<

We should probably post this userscript on the meta thread

Eh.
It's 3 AM and I can't sleep.
I'ma go play some Fallout.

@FlagAsSpam no

3:11 AM
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ How do I use this?
@quartata :)

play csgo instead
@FlagAsSpam install tampermonkey
then add this as a script

So, I'm trying to Google for information regarding binding actions to key presses and releases in the i3 window manager
all I'm getting is stuff about the BMW i3 press release

@FlagAsSpam I'm wondering too. I pasted it into tampemonkey but nothing in changing

@Calvin'sHobbies Try refreshing the page
And making sure TamperMonkey is on

@AlexA. Join the speky call

3:13 AM
It should show a little 1 by the extension if it is

@AlexA. plz does speky cawl

@quartata It does. There's a red square in the tampermonkey icon and a green (1) circle next to the favicon title. I did a hard reload
(using chrome)

I'm not sure whether to feel left out or relieved that I don't have to listen to a skype call where Alex rickrolls us all

still nothing. Do I need to mess with the settings? All I did was add the code, nothing else

@Calvin'sHobbies Hmm you shouldn't have to.
Did you add the header part?
That's important.

3:19 AM
The // ==UserScript==...? yes

Huh

Wait, now it's going!
favicons!

There's no tamper monkey for Safari. :c

@quartata <3

3:21 AM
@AlexA. I'm serious too.
You are a good mod.
Don't let convince you otherwise.

3:24 AM
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Is it to much to ask to keep this up to date with the higher voted design ideas? :D

@AlexA. that link is... err... a 404?

@Doorknob ...

@RikerW :/

Could unicode characters ever be animated?
Like a blinking eye

Maybe. But that's not the unicode standard at present.

I'm not sure how that would be printed on paper...

3:37 AM
@quartata @Zgarb @Calvin'sHobbies Skype wiff us?

@mınxomaτ What's up?

@Calvin'sHobbies That is also true

@AlexA. I'd have to make another account
too lazy

@quartata You don't have to. It's not like any of us would do anything malicious with any information we may or may not see.

@AlexA. This is very reassuring

Everything and/or nothing

@ThomasKwa the function is actually lambda x: isint(num) or isfloat(num) or isstr(num) in that it should return True if any are true (why I agree any() makes sense)

@cat oh, probably the second one

3:52 AM
@Mego Cabbage?

I wish I could skype with y'all

Why can't you?

Calvin's HobbiesGeneral Principle/Color Scheme - Anything but blue All beta Stack Exchange sites have the same light blue design which I am kind of sick of, but it doesn't stop there. @ThomasKwa We had been trying to recruit you to join us in Skype. However, we've moved over to some site/app called Discord.

Not crazy about the font. Seems too squished

@Doᴡɴɢᴏᴀᴛ up vote/down vorte buttons and badges..

@Optimizer I'll make those upgoat buttons and downgoat buttons if I can.

you want people to use the script or just want to get it converted to a meme?

@Optimizer some people might use the script but I don't have any other ideas for the buttons.

6:52 AM
@cat Note that in Python or returns the first True value, so 2 or 0 returns 2 and 0 or 3 returns 3. any((2,3)) returns True, whereas 2 or 3 returns 2. In most cases it won't affect what you're doing, but it's a subtlety worth bearing in mind if you want to use the return value for anything other than truth testing.

7:07 AM
Anyone happen to have a plaintext list of all the SE site urls?

@ՊՓԼՃՐՊՃՈԲՍԼ I like how Android calls your lang.

I mean, URLs of meta sites.
@AlexA. :D

@Calvin'sHobbies Weird, I didn't get that ping.

@Doᴡɴɢᴏᴀᴛ Wow, I just realized it does byte counts of code blocks. Great idea!

7:46 AM
@Doᴡɴɢᴏᴀᴛ It measures every code block, adding scores for examples, for example (no pun intended). Can you limit the byte counts to answers?

What is our policy on expression bodies? I see many valid JS answers using anonymous functions like function(a,b){return a*b;}. This needs to be assigned to be executed. A similar solution in C# would be (int a, int b)=>a*b;. Would this be acceptable?

grc
@mınxomaτ anonymous functions are fine

A: Should function literals be allowed when a function is asked for?

xfixThis is obviously a named function. def g(h): return h * 2 However, not all functions are named. This is an anonymous function, which is still a function. lambda h: h * 2 You may easily notice that you can assign the function. g = lambda h: h * 2 However, even without this, the functio...

Also, I like the new icon of @Doorknob Is he wearing a vectorize-and-simplify hat or something?

@Doᴡɴɢᴏᴀᴛ Minor point: When a code block only has one byte it still says "bytes". And I agree that only blocks in answers should be counted. Or do I agree? Maybe..

Q: A Yoda-speaking challenge, this is

Simone CheloThe challenge Well, I think it is quite clear, isn't it? You have to make a function or a program that takes a string as an argument and outputs the corrispondent Yoda-speaking. This is code-golf, so least number of bytes wins. The input The input could be any string. You can translate a stri...

hi all
any cjammers in?

no
I am not sure why any cjamers will ever be here..
not like we actively use cjam here to golf code

@Optimizer that's a confusing answer
sarcasm?

no :P

if I can take over the conversation... codegolf.stackexchange.com/q/68176/21585 needs a cjam answer :)

12:08 PM
When has Optimizer ever used sarcasm. He's a dead serious person, you know.

so that I can then accept the pyth one :)
otherwise I will just have to conclude the cjam-people are losers :)

@dorothy It's because code-golfers loathe Perl, for the most part. — FlagAsSpam 6 secs ago

@FlagAsSpam I just replied to that
"But, but.. perl is incomprehensible, succinct and borderline insane. How could it be more suitable for code-golf? "
I feel perl and pyth could happily elope

Hellno. xD

I have a math-ey question... I could ask if any math-loving people are in but I fear @Optimizer's reply :)

12:14 PM
Wat be your challenge?

@FlagAsSpam did you read my entropy challenge?
that will make it easier to explain

@dorothy Yes - you bounced the original setup off of me, remember?

yep :)
so fix the number of rows to be 10, say and increase the number of columns. A naive method to compute the entropy gets very slow very quickly
the challenge would be to estimate the entropy to within 1%, say, using code that takes < 1 minute, say
and see how many columns you can get to

Rather similar, but alright.
(I mean, it's not the same, but...)

@FlagAsSpam I think it requires different skills
and genius :)

O.O I've discovered that it is, indeed, possible, to make golfing libraries for AppleScript.
There's even an injector to Script Editor.

Also, an amazing Chrome extension: chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/trump-filter/…

Q: Code kata should be added to Programming Puzzles & Code Golf

John A DurstonThe idea of Programming Puzzles & Code Golf is excellent. Putting-out challenges, submitting your take on the solution, receiving feedback.
