Oh DAMN son.

I feel like an SE noob, but what is Winter Bash?

@BrainSteel HATS

> The Nineteenth Byte: (completely off-topic)

HATS!!!

Hats?

12:00 AM
@AlexA. Try it, and see if it works

HATS

HAAAAAAAATTTTTTTSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's all I needed to know.
HATS.

HATS!!!

Dam son.

12:00 AM

I... what

...exactly

You are hats, brother. Carry on to victory!

@Doorknob Do I need call if it's in .vimrc or is that only in a running session?
@BrainSteel Okay, will do.

12:01 AM
@AlexA. yes
(the former, that is)

Oh Icy

Oh god.
How am I going to rotate stacks??

Carefully

Couldn't remember Mathematica function. to rotate vector. Guessed 'Rotate'. Here's result. http://t.co/BNHIkkF2vi

as in making the first item the last one, and shifting the rest one over?

12:02 AM
They're each variable length.

Is that what you mean?

No.
Take a 2D stack.
Turn them all together on their sides.
The first stack forms the first items of every stack.

@Doorknob ಠ___ಠ

oh ok

@Doorknob I get a ton of errors when I start vim and then I get the same behavior as before.
(i.e. nothing happens)

12:04 AM
uhm
What errors?

I could do it in JS, what language are you doing it in?

@Cyoce Java.

@Doorknob ^

The thing is, I have to deal with variable length.

12:05 AM
alias vim=nano

Which means that it has to be as long as the longest stack and I have to find a value for empty slots.
@Dennis Yus.

@AlexA. ahh. The plugin you're trying to use has buffer-specific variables

null?

You might be able to do some autocmd/BufEnter magic

2 mins ago, by Alex A.
@Doorknob ಠ___ಠ

12:06 AM
@Cyoce I don't want NullPointerExceptions in Vitsy.

@Doorknob I have absolutely no idea what that means.

autocmd is magic
:h autocmd

:quite

will the arrays have mixed types?

Just Double.

If Ruby doesn't care, why should you? :P

@Doorknob I still don't really understand what this is and why I need it. ._.

then filling the empties with 0.0 seems like the logical option... it will break the least things (unless you're folding with multiplication)

@AlexA. The plugin you're using uses b:foo variables. These are bound specifically to a certain buffer.
Therefore, when your vimrc runs (before any buffers have been opened), it fails

@Cyoce x.x I'll deal with this after sleep. It's far too late here.

You have two options, basically: autocmd magic (with the BufEnter event), or binding a keystroke to do the init thingy and hitting it every time you want LaTeX completion

12:10 AM
I cannot read LaTeX without thinking terrible things.

@Doorknob Since the plugin specifically says to put things in the .vimrc, shouldn't this be something I should submit as an issue? Or does this sound like a "feature"?
@Doorknob The latter sounds icky
@FlagAsSpam ...like what?

It may be the plugin's fault. Or it may be a PEBKAC on my part, since I've never used this plugin and haven't really looked at it because I'm multitasking with other things :P

> PEBKAC

@AlexA. Latex gloves & checkups. hiss

@AlexA. Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair

12:11 AM
@Doorknob :O

Does glove and checkup rhyme? O.o

@FlagAsSpam Doctors are your friend

Y'know what causes the most car accidents?

@AlexA. Basically, me being an idiot :P
@El'endiaStarman cars?

haha

12:12 AM
The nut behind the wheel.

I didn't say anything what
Oh.

@FlagAsSpam mhmmm sure

Night all. :D

....that was the most tepid response I've ever gotten to that joke.
G'night FAS!

Why did I read that as "go to bed, fast!"

12:13 AM
@El'endiaStarman Misread that as "FFS" and thought you were really angry at him... :P

G'NIGHT!

@Doorknob hahaha :P

@FlagAsSpam good night :D

@Doorknob There are so many Internet acronyms I do not yet understand
@El'endiaStarman Gluten tag!

> Gluten

12:15 AM
I mean what I said.

@AlexA. First word is "for" and last one is "sake".

@El'endiaStarman Heh. Then what's FAS?

Flag As Spam?

Oh

12:16 AM
hehe

For Alex's Sake

I said goodnight to the wrong person
@FlagAsSpam GLUTEN TAKE

That... That is not good night...

It's approximately good night.

12:17 AM
buenas noches

"Guten Tag" totally means good day.

"good nights"

"Guten Nacht" is good night :D

Did I do it

I don't know what you did. But I want nachos.

@El'endiaStarman Hahaha

WHAT

YAY ALLCAPS

STOP SHOUTING

12:19 AM
NO

NACHOS ARE ALL THAT IS GOOD.

IT IS NO LONGER CAPS LOCK DAY

@BrainSteel Gute Nacht, actually.

I'M WHISPERING INALL CAPS

@BrainSteel This is incorrect.

12:20 AM
@Dennis I passed 3 German classes and still can't keep it straight. Thanks :D

@BrainSteel So many German speakers in this room. Quite impressivo.

I only know English and some French :(

I know English, some French, some Japanese, and an itty bitty bit of Tatar.

I know English, Ruby, Python, C, ...

It should be if it isn't

It's a ??? derivative.

I know English and English

Don't forget Engrish

@AlexA. Also known as a BF derivative :P

And pirate speak

A BF second derivative

I speak English and squeaker fluently

I shall now depart on a pizza quest.

Are you getting, vanquishing, or rescuing pizza?

Why not all three?

Anyone doing USACO?

USACO?

Huh. Apparently I can flag my own message for a moderator.
Safety first?

I'm competing this round; it's pretty much my first time doing non-code-golf nontrivial programming.

<Chatgoat / Wolfram> Best Guess: prompt returned upon death, ascension, escaping the dungeon, or quitting in the classic NetHack video game
(Typing "y" usually reveals that you had an amulet of life saving that you weren't wearing, you had three potions of extra healing you didn't take, and that the mysterious ring you didn't wear for fear of cursedness was actually a blessed ring of slow digestion, which is especially irking if you just starved to death.)
2nd-best guess:
Do you want your possessions identified?prompt returned upon death, ascension, escaping the dungeon, or quitting in the
Chatgoat now has Wolfram|Alpha support apparently.

1:33 AM
okay
I'm actually about to ascend my first Caveman. Then I can finally start 3.6.0 :P

@Doorknob !

@anOKsquirrel I decided to listen to the remainder of the dance machine mix, I've made it to Sir Serious so far

I have another terminology question

;-; they killed off a character in my favorite tv show

And what show would that be?

^

Everybody keeps talking about that. I guess I'll have to watch it some day.

3:02 AM
It's a good TV show

what Dennis said

Hey, it's been going on for 9 seasons. How bad can it be? Remembers CSI Miami. I'll give it a shot anyway.

I'm almost done with USACO Bronze!

What would it be called to move an array/stack over one? i.e. `{a, b, c} => {c, a, b}` or `{a, b, c} => {b, c, a}`
Is there an accepted name for this operation?

Array rotation.

3:06 AM
@Dennis It's actually been going on for 50 years

So the actors look like the Golden Girls?

@Dennis 26 seasons of the old Doctor (Doctors 1-8), 9 seasons so far of the new Doctor (Doctors 9-12 [current]). The 9th Doctor started ten years ago in 2005.

^ incorrect
9 seasons of the new Doctor Who

Hey, it's been going on for 9 seasons. How bad can it be? Remembers CSI Miami. I'll give it a shot anyway.

Really?!

3:12 AM
I read that on the internet. It must be true.

Oh, and there's more than 8 seasons of old Doctor too.

Slightly.

> Doctor Who originally ran for 26 seasons on BBC One

There, updated my statements.

3:17 AM
Nine different doctors? Doctor who? indeed.

13+ doctors, actually

> An eccentric yet compassionate extraterrestrial Time Lord zips through time and space to solve problems and battle injustice across the universe, traveling via the TARDIS, which is his old and occasionally unreliable spaceship that resembles a blue police phone box and is much, much larger inside than outside.

1-8, war doctor, 9-12

Not so sure about this any more...

It's really good
I assure you
That statement simplifies it so much

3:20 AM
Why do the keep changing doctors?
That's pretty much the opposite from what I want from a TV series...

...just watch it.
I like it.

I passed USACO Bronze!

Woo! Congrats! :D

Congrats! (What's that?)

@El'endiaStarman \o/
^^

3:25 AM
It's a programming contest
It's held thrice a year, and you need to pass the Bronze level at one contest to qualify for Silver at the next, until you get to Platinum
But I got 3/3 problems (2/3 is required to pass) so I get to take Silver this round too.

At each level, there are 3 problems, and you get 4 hours total to solve them.
For me, learning how to file I/O was the hardest part.

nice

Which language did you use?

Jelly><>, of course!

3:29 AM
is that real?

He got it from the future.

Not yet.

@Dennis Python.

...boring

Yayyy Python! :D

3:30 AM
Depending on what the problems ask for, that would probably be my choice too. My C is a little rusty...

You're only allowed to use Java, Python, C/C++, or Pascal.

oh

I've never used C++ or Pascal, and using Java once was more than enough...

Java hates me
(the feeling's mutual)

> using Java once was more than enough...
are you biased by your code golf experience?

3:36 AM
I have tried to write short code as long as I can remember, long before I knew code golf even existed.
Verbosity bugs me.
@Ampora Hello.
