2:00 AM
Which one of you is somebody else?

?

Huh?

wat

eh?

2:00 AM
If you're asking if we have sock puppets, I have none

@AlexA. You do!

I really don't

@AlexA. then who is @ಠ_ಠ

none

@TanMath Can confirm that this is not Alex

2:03 AM
@TanMath I can't share that information; account identities are private.

how to make sock pup? please sir

Haha
Not sure if trolling

The opposite way that you make a sock kitty

@AlexA. haha, that's what they all say

All of whom...?

2:04 AM
m

yes.

@Doorknob >____________>

how to type ಠ_ಠ face

...
like that?

i copypastwed.
*pasted
i can't always do that
right?

2:05 AM
@ev3commander on ಠ_ಠ's face?

@ev3commander You can't always copy and paste?

@
@ಠ_ಠ

For me, I set up a thing in my i3 config so it's "alt alt c d" (double alt brings up a menu thingy, c for "copy tool," d for "disapproval")

there's not always a ready ಠ_ಠ face for me to copy

2:06 AM
@ev3commander disapprovallook.com

Also found in the copy tool list: [z]ero width space, [l]enny, [t]ableflip, [s]hrug, [r]ickroll.
All of which are extremely useful, of course.

ಠ_ಠ

2 hours later...
"Hey what was that ಠ_ಠ webaite again"

> webaite

wobsite

2:08 AM
@ev3commander Keep the face in a text file.

set $copymenu "copy: (z)wsp  (d)isapproval  (l)enny  (t)ableflip  (s)hrug  (r)ickroll"
mode $copymenu {
        bindsym !!z,d,l,t,s,r exec echo -n !!<,'ಠ_ಠ','( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)',\
            '(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻','¯\_(ツ)_/¯',\
            'http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ'> \
            | xsel -ibl /dev/null; mode "default"
        bindsym Escape mode "default"
}
mode "action: (l)aunch  (s)ystem  (c)opy" {
        bindsym l mode $launchmenu
        bindsym s mode $systemmenu
        bindsym c mode $copymenu
^ That's how I do it in i3. (Before some preprocessing with a script that I wrote.)

@ev3commander Bookmark it :P
I use tab complete on the user's name
@ then press tab until @ಠ_ಠ shows up, then remove the @.

Too many keystrokes. @<tab><tab><left><left><left><bs><end>. :P

> I use tab - 1m ago by Alex A.

I don't think that was a full minute ago

2:11 AM
ehh

And I use the tab key too, all the time

But it inserts spaces

@ev3commander Just type @, select @ಠ_ಠ and delete the at sign.

@quartata Literally just said that

@AlexA. Yes, and it also goes through browser input fields of course

2:12 AM
@Doorknob You'll end but you won't home?

@AlexA. Wait, what?
Oh. I didn't notice.

lal

too many strokes. @<movemouse><click><←><←><←><\b><\n>

@Doorknob What, you don't click each field and press "go" after typing? :P

@Calvin'sHobbies You're right; that's a char golfier :P (although I usually use <C-e> for end (and <C-a> for home) with a userscript because it's easier than reaching for the end key)
@AlexA. ಠ_ಠ

2:14 AM
Uh...type @, tab once or twice, Ctrl+left arrow, backspace, enter.

@Calvin'sHobbies 1-0-0-0, in the strictest sense of the word "own." :P
There is a microwave in my house, though...

Option 5. Noobs

3-0-0-0

3-2-1-0. No kidding.

2:18 AM
3-1-0-0

wait what did you just buy a game console like now

haha

@El'endiaStarman No one chose car?

2-6-3-1

Game consoles are computers, so how could one own more game consoles?

2:19 AM
Hi

@Calvin'sHobbies I'm saying how many of each I have.

@Calvin'sHobbies It's not the top of my list but I've owned more cars than computers.

2-6-1-0. :O

@Calvin'sHobbies This is tough...
You know what.
I believe I'm actually tied between computers and game consoles.

3...............ty

Shit.

@ev3commander Currently installed?

@quartata Gameboys and rasberry pi's can be compared next

@ev3commander Chromium, Firefox. Used to have Lynx but decided it was useless :P

2:21 AM
@Calvin'sHobbies I've owned more Gameboys.

I have owned zero of each

@Doorknob I believe you mean Iceweasel.

At least someone has only 1

@AlexA. No, Lynx.

@AlexA. ಠ_ಠ
No, actual Firefox

2:22 AM
Wait, do Gameboys count?

I used to have IE but didn't count it)

Then it's 2-7-1-0

and 360 secure browser (don't ask)

@Calvin'sHobbies I'm VTC your straw poll as unclear.

Chrome, Firefox, Edge, IE. In order of usage.

2:23 AM
Counting portable consoles I've owned more game consoles than computers.

2-8-1-0 if you stretch the definition of 'own'

That's sad. I'm not even a console gamer anymore.

What nobody also has 6+ browsers

@ev3commander Yeah, what's the point?

2:23 AM
It would make sense to me if I were a web dev or something

to be annoying

/^\^{3,4}$/

carrots are annoying

@ev3commander Easier and golfier than saying "I agree".

SE chat should have upvote and downvote buttons

2:24 AM

Miaou (a SE chat clone) does

I downvoted

They're useful

then use miaou

I do

2:25 AM
@Doorknob This is cool :O
Is there a PPCG room?

No.

> Hello!
> > > > > > Hello!
what
no nesting quotes
hey did someone just upvote one of my answers
or do I have a bad memory
because i thought i had 410 rep

@Calvin'sHobbies hahahaha I like the last option
2

2:27 AM
huh that was yesterday

But I would probably prefer the first.
Unless "accessories" == mice / stickers / other useless objects

@Doorknob Nah. Hard drives, headphones, whatever

Headphones? What use are headphones? :P

$10k worth of computer mice?!?! Count me in!

2:30 AM
@ev3commander fn main() { println!("Hello, World!"); }

Idk, that's a little rusty

main=putStrLn"Hello, World!"

-1 too Haskell

then choose the closest

There's no closest

2:31 AM
also there's a disturbingly low number of HQ9+ fans huh

All of those are scripting languages :(
except for HQ9+ I guess
well... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@ev3commander several python 3 fans!

#include <iostream>
int main() {
    std::cout << "Hello, World!";
    return 0;
}

yeah

@TanMath A lot of languages use that syntax.

2:32 AM
@Doorknob print

@AlexA. << std::endl

@AlexA. really? Like?

Perl

@Doorknob I don't need to end my lines

Ruby

2:32 AM
R
Julia

Oh

and if that's too Haskell, what about, import java.util.logging.Logger; public class MainApplication { private static void LOGGER = Logger.getLogger(MainApplication.class.getName); private static void Main(String[] args) { LOGGER.info("Hello, World!"); } }

I like how other is winning

Because the rest of the choices are bad
3

2:37 AM
ಠ_ಠ

ಠ_ಠ

^

Too easy

I really hate the elif keyword.

What would you prefer?

else if

What about Julia's elseif?

But then it looks like the separate else and if tokens

2:42 AM
But that's exactly what it works like.
Holy crap! I just peeked at J's inverse of its Pi function:
3 : '(-(!-y"_)%1e_3&* !"0 D:1 ])^:_ <.&170^:(-:+)^.y' :.!
I don't even.

...wut

@Dennis Do you mean o.?

No, Pi(z) = Gamma(z + 1).
AKA !.

Oh, that Pi.
@Doorknob I made a Meow. What neow?

Here's a custom R script out-performing a Mathematica builtin. :P codegolf.stackexchange.com/a/65406/32014

2:52 AM
@AlexA. wat

How allowed is it to give Mathematica programs a 10,000% penalty?

@Dennis How do you feel about elsif?

@Actorclavilis 0% allowed
3

@AlexA. Oh I get it :P

2:52 AM
@Doorknob else if is the only logical choice.

also wp @Flounderer

Objectively.

Because you say so?

what about (case v (a ...) (b ...) ... )?

@Dennis That doesn't work in languages that don't allow stuff like if (foo) bar (languages that require braces / end keywords)
(Unless it's special cased, of course, but that can get ugly)

2:54 AM
Hm, good point. They should change everything else then.

ಠ_ಠ

If you used else if in Python, every case would have to be one indentation level deeper.

Stuff like that too, yeah (similar to {} and "end")

@Doorknob Miaou. Idk what do.

um

2:55 AM
@feersum Yes, that's what the interpreter keeps telling me.

ಠ_ಠ

Chat challenge.
Figure out what language this Hello, World program is in:
(utt.synth (Utterance Text ""))
(format t "Hello, World!")

@quartata Foo

It's not Scheme.
@feersum Wait, really?
OK. I should clarify.
It can't output to STDERR.

2:57 AM
So apparently the Interstellar soundtrack helps me study...

You didn't say it has do anything in particular.

Q: Implement the Method of Finite Differences

EridanThe Method of Finite Differences is a technique used to find the next term in a sequence of numbers, given that the sequence is governed by consecutive values of a certain polynomial. Given a list of n terms, the Method will be able to determine the degree of the polynomial, which is a maximum of...

It's TPLQ. Sorry.
It does run in Foo but it outputs to stderr

Really? How is Foo altways the answer in that question then?

@feersum Because I don't think they banned STDERR output

2:59 AM
@AlexA. No love for fellas? ಠ_ಠ
