president
Just printed out all the homework I've missed while (gestures around) for two classes and it's a solid quarter inch thick
@att ahh
yeah, maybe :p
but yeah like I really hope my academic advisor can do something to let me turn stuff in late 'cause I've got stuff ranging from a day late to two weeks late and unless I can get credit for it I'm getting Cs or Bs in basically everything
oh and then I've also got three more classes I need to catch up on
Gonna lock in so hard though don't even worry guys
I should probably fix the fact that I am both very dehydrated and without a writing utensil
You've got a very good excuse :p (and half your professors probably know what you've been doing already anyway)
nah, these are mostly lecture classes
I'm not actually that far from a B- in diff eq if I get like a 90 on the last midterm and/or do well on the final, so if I can get exceptions for all this late work, I might actually be doing fine
That's...a couple big ifs tho lol

conor, give emanresu her account back

@emanresuA Facinating
02:28
@rydwolf Whoa! That's amazing

hi rydwolf are you okay
flaccid drive
@emanresuA no he's rydwolf
I really just tried to open the all rooms tab when I already had it open
I've got it as a bookmark on mobile
So I went from having the all rooms page open, went to the bookmarks page, tapped all rooms page only to realise that's where I'd come from

CMU has a bio class that only counts for a few units where you literally just brew beer and I'm really curious what the mechanics of that class are for people under 21 lol
07:39
@rydwolf according to google ai you need to be able to buy beer to brew it so the age limit used to vary by state but I guess it's now 21 everywhere
08:03
@Ginger personally the rason i haven't voted for her is that i've never interacted with her at all on account of timezones
TIL the Department of Government Efficiency is a backronym of DOGE

comment of the day:
So happy to see C at the top for once! You can actually shave off about 9 bytes by simply replacing the f(a,b){a*=b;} part with 1##& and then just changing your language to Mathematica. — Albert Renshaw Feb 8, 2017 at 23:40

can't spell mathematica without c
the things i do for golfing
i'm currently trying to generate a cert using openssl 0.9.6 (released sep 2000) using a 16-bit rsa key
i'm actually surprised i managed to compile that version of openssl at all but it worked first try
10:57
what do you know this 24 years old version of openssl meant for pentiums doesn't actually function properly
time to install a pentium emulator :p
i mean
i have a plethora of EDA tools at my disposition if i really wanted to i could accurately simulate an entire pentium at the transistor level
it'd be slow as balls but i could
11:23
well it ain't much but it's honest work codegolf.stackexchange.com/a/276677/88192

Rate my wired internet
ಠ_ಠ
Very reminiscent of hexanaut.io
when i lived at my parents my room was on the opposite side of the house from the router, so i bought a flat cat5 and laid it under the carpet that was becoming unglued at the border, under door plates that i dismounted to route the cable, and finally to my server
i then put a wifi card in the server and bridged the wired connection to it so i could have reliable wifi in my room and to my surprise it actually worked really well
Context: My studio is being renovated, it was supposed to take a week but it's been two months. Now my landlord finally provided a different temporary room I can stay in. I need good internet but since it's temporary I don't care that much about doing it well
nothing is as permanent as a temporary solution

14:08
Yep. I hope not though because this new room sucks
oof
people who are knowledgeable with android: i need help xdaforums.com/t/how-to-fix-a-bootloop.4702920
It's on the ground floor and big windows facing the street. It's just one long room so I have like 0 privacy
If I close the curtains it's very dark
@mousetail'he-him' i bet the noise from outside is also mint
Luckily I'm not especially sensitive to noise, since I used to live in India. But yes there is also a good amount of noise

Q: In what order will the downloads complete?

mousetail 'he-him'Background Recently, I was installing updates on my pc with Pacman and noticed the order it downloaded files was like this Start with the largest 4 downloads When a download completes, start downloading the next biggest file. Since the biggest file takes the longest to download, you'll often se...

15:54
hmm yes four spam flags from ELL because people are arguing over the pronunciation of "parkour"
16:04
@TheEmptyStringPhotographer Woah
That was a long time ago
I remember that though
fancy seeing you here :p
@NewPosts ahh, I almost thought I had a really elegant solution that didn't have room to exploit sorting, until I realized it had zero memory of what jobs it already started and just greedily booted in-progress jobs out :P
shame I have to go now

Q: Count the fish in a school

Klumpy7Go Fish! Given a school of fish, for example: ><> ><> ><> ><> ><> <>< <>< ><> <>< ><> ><> ><> ><><>< ><>><> <>< ><> ><> <>< ><> <>< ><> ><> ><> ><> ><> ><> <><<>< ><> <><><> ><

17:07
@NewPosts the bash answer is actually genius

3 hours later…
19:57
Never thought I'd see the day where sleep sort had a practical use :p
(for a certain value of "practical")
20:26
The girl from the same dorm I live in who I kinda sorta have a crush on just invited me to hang out with her (and some other people but still)
It conflicts with something else on my schedule but...I think I have to prioritize lol
She seemed really nervous to ask so maybe she does like me
Some context: she has a really unique name, and I went to a friend of mine's apartment a few days ago and saw a thing with her name on it, and figured out that my friend's roommate is her big (as in, sorority), so I might be able to ask my friend's roommate to sort of be a wingman and figure that out for me lol
20:42
Neat
Yeah I feel like that is something you can almost need a third opinion on
(also how “kinda sorta” are we talking, if I may pry :P)

@Ginger in chat civilisation, no one raises flags on the beef
true
maybe this whole RO election thing was just a ploy to get me 15% of a silver discussion tag badge
22:31
@UnrelatedString Yeah it's really hard to come up with an elegant golflang algorithm for this that's not just "reverse sort and run the alg"
23:11
@UnrelatedString in the sense that I don't really know if I would want a relationship with anyone right now but I definitely like her
We met during orientation week and had lunch (or maybe dinner?) together and she's really cool
There were a few lines I definitely interpreted as flirty fwiw (like I mentioned I rode a motorcycle and she was like "oh maybe you could teach me how to")
but it's hard to gauge
23:35
Ahh
…how experienced would you consider yourself in interpreting those kinds of signals
Incidentally
INCIDENTALLY
@rydwolf (this is a cry for help would you mind if I DMed you on Discord)
23:56
I wish discord made it easier to have multiple accounts
I'm signed in on the one I use for CMU stuff rn
