Q: Questions that ask for artifacts or witnesses

A. Rex(Sorry this is long. I tried to gather many examples, and honestly I would have liked to include more.) Background The code-challenge tag captures many different kinds of creative challenges that are not covered by code-golf. One frequent feature is asking for what I might call an artifact, o...

@flawr Yeah, you could restrict it to normal mode commands
But you'd still probably want to specify one version so that you have a list
@flawr IDK, because vim is turing complete

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

Shieru AsakotoI square the source code, you square the input! Blatant rip-off of a rip-off of a rip-off of a rip-off of a rip-off. Go upvote those! Your task, if you wish to accept it, is to write a program/function that outputs/returns the square of its input/argument1. The tricky part is that if I square3 ...

Q: Tips for golfing in 1+

TwilightSparkleWhat general tips do you have for golfing in 1+? I'm looking for ideas which can be applied to code-golf problems and which are also at least somewhat specific to 1+ (e.g. "remove unnecessary whitespace" is not an answer). Please post one tip per answer.

@NieDzejkob So you found out? I must change my identity, again...

@Night2 Time to become Night3 I guess

@cairdcoinheringaahing Ah it seems my algorithm for creating new identities is compromised too! This could be due to Area 51 raid... I must go back to my planet now!

Q: Duck, duck, gone!

A _Here is the (quite childish) Five little ducks song(it is not long): Five little ducks went out one day, over the hills and up away. Mother Duck said, "Quack Quack Quack Quack", but only four little ducks came back. Four little ducks went out one day, over the hills and up away. Mother Duck sai...

I just came up with a maze game. Description:
Played on a 3x3 grid.

When the program ends the program counter must end up on the E letter. Intermediate touches don't count.

B=Begin
E=End

Moving instructions:
> move Right
^ Move Up
< Move left
v move down
Maze instructions:

! Booster in the current facing direction.

E.g. If > was executed, boost right.

+ Bounces back relative to the current direction. (i.e. a wall)

. Space allowing players to move through.

When the player goes through the edge it maps back.
Challenge: solve this maze:
Instructions:>^^>>^^>>
Maze:
..E
...
B..

@A_ This appears to be the only 1+ answer on the site

A _
@cairdcoinheringaahing Really? I thought 1+ was quite popular.

@A_ I don't see why it would be, its not a very interesting (purely my opinion) or powerful language

2:34 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing I think it is a cool language.

3:01 PM
@A_ When the player goes through the edge it maps back. What does that mean? It wraps around? It bounces? It stays put?

A _
3:16 PM
The player wraps around.

Dannyu NDosStarting at 1-TET, give equal temperaments that have better and better approximation of the perfect fifth(just ratio 3/2).
