@NewMainPosts grumbles at what would have been trivial as a but ends up doubling in size for the conversion boilerplate

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

User AArrays I originally wrote it in Chinese and am still working on translating it. Sorry for the inconvenience. Given an array containing n integers A1,A2,…,An, where all of their initial values are 0. Please implement the four operations to the array described below: Operations 给出正整数x和y,给Ax~Ay(...

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

AdámProposed alternative to this Golf an H interpreter H is a text-based, weakly-typed string concatenation language. You task is to run an H script. You may do so by creating an interpreter, a compiler, a transpiler, or by any other reasonable means. Definitions Anything not defined herein is un...

Q: about a golf club

anujakaushala The program should welcome the user and display the menu. Re-prompt the user until a valid response (1, 2, 3 or 4) is entered. The Enter Scores option should ask the user how many golfers in the group and then ask to enter the following information about each golfer and put the information into...

1:46 PM
@NewMainPosts Ah, the good ol' "Here's my homework assignment, please do it for me."

1:56 PM
It's got the word golf in so must be relevant /s

2:23 PM
Anyone have any suggestions for improving my sandbox question? If not, I'll probably post it in ~4 hours.

@tjjfvi It's terrible! (Let me actually read it and I'll post some thoughts on it :^))

👌

"according to order" is probably missing a 'the'

@tjjfvi How do we deal with line breaks if they occur both in solution and in input?

"Standard loopholes & i/o apply" -> "Standard loopholes & i/o rules apply".

2:35 PM
@tjjfvi Maybe state that the input will only contain characters that appear in your language's code page or ASCII if the language is ASCII-only.

I'd probably do ^ this ^ but beyond that, looks pretty solid

@Adám imo a better description would be that the input is in the same encoding as the code. language-specific codepage doesn't generalize well (even more so with languages that allow different code pages)

@dzaima Yeah, that's better. CC: @tjjfvi

@Adám so what if my code is binary then I just need to submit a solution which sorts 0s and 1s?

@ExpiredData Dunno. But you need to address the issue.

2:44 PM
What about languages that aren't read left to right? or aren't 1 dimensional? @tjjfvi

The fact I can't find a good way to compress "| "*$w is bugging the poo out of me
The multiplier is what changes everything

@Veskah What does that mean?

Just repeat the string w times
However, the naive approach of ('|'+' '*7)*$w is longer.

Canvas, 4 bytes

2:55 PM
By your powers combined, I am PowerShell! (at 13 bytes still)

@Veskah So you are in my computer‽

Yes. You should clean the fans more often

3:10 PM
@Veskah/@ExpiredData/@Adám I updated the rules; hopefully they are clearer now.

The ping sound will never not startle me

@tjjfvi Looks good. Go ahead and post. I have my solution ready :-)

Q: Operations of Arrays

User AGiven an array containing n integers A1,A2,…,An, where all of their initial values are 0. Please implement the four operations to the array described below: Operations Given the positive integer x and y, let every number in the range Ax~Ay (including Ax and Ay) be added by the given positive in...

Done; thank you all for the feedback!

PowerShell, 8 bytes: "| "*$w @Veskah only slightly underhanded

3:21 PM
@ExpiredData That makes "| | | | | | | | "

@Veskah that message is supposed to have a tab instead of a space

o i c, consider me a dummy

Q: A quine of sorts

tjjfviGiven a string x, output the characters in x sorted according to the order of appearance in your source code. Examples Source: ThisIs A Test Input: Is it a Test? Output: TissI etta? Source: Harry - yer a wizard. Input: I'm a what? Output: aa wh'?Imt Source: Mr. H. Potter, The Floor, Hut...

@Veskah no it's a tab character... so implementation specific... just saw i got beaten to that

3:55 PM
@NewMainPosts Looks at title. Ooh, super simple! Reads post uhhhhhh

@Veskah pings

:'D

4:39 PM
I think I'm misunderstanding the challenge: Try it online!
What am I doing wrong here?

@MilkyWay90 well for one, any "s"es in the input should be moved to the start of the output because it's the first char in the code

I'm probably doing something wrong in key=lambda x:'s=%r;exec s'%s.find(x)

@MilkyWay90 shouldn't there be parenthesis around 's=%r;exec s'%s? also not-founds must be at the end not start

Yeah, I'll change that
Ohh I get it now
@dzaima Okay, I think this is valid.

4:58 PM
@MilkyWay90 i have 81 bytes in python 2 (and see a couple golfs in that too), but yeah, looks okay

@dzaima Oh, I'll post it then golf it
I golfed 2 bytes off

Q: Implement a strongly Darboux function

DoorknobAccording to Wikipedia, a strongly Darboux function is one for which the image of every (non-empty) open interval is the whole real line In other words, a function \$f\$ is strongly Darboux if given 3 arbitrary real numbers \$a\$, \$b\$, and \$y\$, it is always possible to find an \$x\$ bet...
