Q: Recursively count lines of code, excluding empty lines and comments

ArinRequirement: Write a program (in any language) that recursively counts the number of lines of code in files matching *.sh(starting from the directory that the program is executed in), excluding lines that are empty, only contain whitespace, or are just single-line comments. Output: A single inte...

this answer doesn't comply with the problem specification, as it can output characters outside the ASCII range; I don't have the rep to comment on or flag it, so I'm mentioning it in chat as people are apparently upvoting it without understanding the algorithm

4:37 AM
Most of the upvoters don't visit chat anyway (I guess?)

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

Jake Harrycode-golf I'm glad the sandbox exists because I have a few issues coming up with the right wording for this. Background Theoretically, any numeric pattern should exist somewhere in the decimal places of pi. Challenge Given any numeric input, find the index (location?) of the first occurrence...

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

maxbPronunciationSort™ We all know of different fancy sorting algorithms, but none of these give us numbers in a way that's easy to pronounce. To remedy this, I propose using PronunciationSort™, the most natural way to sort lists of numbers. Pronunciation The official rules for pronouncing numbers...

Hi is this challenge already been asked ?
Multiply input separated by space

Like 1 2 3 4

@DIDIx13 Would definitely be closed as a duplicate yes

We have a "multiply two numbers" challenge.

@DIDIx13 in short: yes. Also, restricting input is kinda frowned upon, unless the challenge is tailored specifically to that input. You can read more on our consensus on I/O methods.

1:47 PM
I wanted to see if there was already answers for this question.

@DIDIx13 well, I can give you at least one in Dyalog APL: ×/

PowerShell -- "$args"-replace' ','*'|iex

@dzaima Made some changes to the boundary specifications. Anything else you think is unclear?

@J.Sallé Thanks looks clean I thought about Py answers no esoteric languages only

@DIDIx13 APL is actually not an esolang (though I can understand why you'd think that). I've never done python though so you'd have to ask someone else

1:58 PM
@DIDIx13 Probably something like eval(s.replace(' ','*'))

@J.Sallé Sorry I know APL isn't considered as an esolang (and it's normal), just not the type of answer I was searching for (not the 5bytes or less one :p )
@H.PWiz Much love to you

2:24 PM
We don't have a challenge that involves doing long multiplication with carries
or long addition. In fact, the only long-form, show-your-work style problem we have is division

Doesn't "show" the carries, though, which I think you're getting at.

I'm curious how many answers on that question handle more than 2 digits
because the test cases only give 2
nevermind, it looks like all of them show it, except for the accepted answer
so, there's a good chance they all do
We need more show-your-work challenges. Sorting is the classic example, but there are definitely more applications

More opinions about this?
I don't see how this is a duplicate of Count up folks. As I see it, it's only related. I won't vote to reopen, though, as that would directly unhammer. What do others think? — Luis Mendo 1 hour ago

@LuisMendo I would strongly agree

With me or with the dupe-voters?

I agree with the sentiment, but disagree with the avoidance of hammering :)
The comment from Kevin Cruijssen is the real nail in the coffin though
he lists several distinct reasons this challenge is different

So you think it should be unhammered?

it already is open
so I don't see what hammer you plan on using
but yeah, I would have just used the hammer
if things turn into a fight, you take it up on meta

2:57 PM
Ah, Kevin already unhammered it. Sorry for the noise

I do think this challenge has potential to be closed as unclear, which is why there's so many comments around it
simply because there isn't an exact specification of what rgb() notation or #hex notation is

@LuisMendo Ah, sorry. With you

I think enough people commented on that challenge that the OP should be able to modify the post so that it's clear what output format is being requested. In the meantime I could see the challenge being closed as unclear since none of the comments are set in stone until the challenge is updated.

3:19 PM
Anyone else having their reputation changes not show up in the title bar? I just realized I have a +1 on an answer that doesn't reflect under the "Trophy" icon. It does correctly show on my Reputation tab on my profile.
nvm, found a Meta post

@DJMcMayhem There is some consensus then. Anyway, Kevin already unhammered it

I thought it was spring 2019? Or maybe that was captain marvel and A4 is winter. I have no idea
> May 3, 2019
Captain Marvel is two months before (I promise I can math)
I forgot that April existed for a second there

Yeah, that happens sometimes.

some people forget about February in rare occasions

in The Third Stack, Feb 16 '17 at 19:06, by Wheat Wizard
Oh my bad I though April was after February
Never forget

so, the months February—April are forgettable

4:20 PM
April is after February, it's just there's a month inbetween.

careful with those!
yep, WW meant that he forgot about March, I still remember that

I've never thought about it before but you're right
I frequently forget months in the range February-April but never any others

Q: Regular Expression to find a pangram
