0.828125 + 0.0009765625 = 0.8291015625, so you know the first 2 decimal places are definitely never going to change from 0.82
@DJMcMayhem hopefully that follows from the fact that 0.111... in binary is the same as 1 (adding 1/2 + 1/4 + 1/8 +... never exceeds 1)

@trichoplax Wow, that looks awesome. It's a little more complicated than my challenges tend to be, but it looks pretty cool. Thanks!

I'm not sure how quickly it will lose meaning for a language that doesn't have arbitrary precision, so you might have to word it carefully, but it seems like it could give provable test cases

Oh shoot, I didn't think about that....
Hmm, it seems like you could limit it to (2^32)^-1 or say that languages without arbitrary precision just can't compete

Does anyone know how to make a route in Google Maps? Like input a list of places and display a tour to all of them

I think you can select "add destination" once you have a route from A to B
May differ between mobile and desktop versions though

11:13 PM
Lemme see

Heyo guys

@DJMcMayhem In honor of your 12K: pasteboard.co/gD2hXI57U.png

@trichoplax Works, thanks.
Now to do it programatically...

@HWalters Haha, thanks!

@quartata Are you using Google to solve TSP?

11:18 PM
No
I'm writing something for myself to create a random walk, literally

Just leave home with a coin...

That would take way too long
besides I'm bad at flipping coins and I thought it would be amusing to make something that was based on a set seed depending on what area you're in

And he might get stuck at a three way fork forever

Oh, that'll happen regardless most likely.

"What's the traveling salesman problem?" "ugh, use google." (later) "holy crap where did you get the $1,000,000?" "Oh, I solved the traveling salesman problem." "How?!??" "You told me to use google, and I did."

11:21 PM
everyone knows TSP can be solved in O(1) anyways

Chuck Norris

I hear you can solve it in O(0.67) if you have amazon prime

@DerpfacePython No, eBay

@ConorO'Brien What about Foresight?

@quartata No, Jon Skeet

11:22 PM
what about it?

Solves TSP in O(-1000)
Solved before you even start trying to solve it

i solved in O(i)

How do I use HTML5 geolocation?

swiftly

11:25 PM
@quartata ugh, use google.

I get that navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition is involved somehow
But it appears to take something

@ReleasingHeliumNuclei And everyone knows O(ai + b) = O(O(a) - O(b))

Oh, it's asynchronous

@ConorO'Brien so, O(i)=O(1*i+0)=O(O(1)-O(0))

11:26 PM
totally

How do I truncate a float in JS?

Big O notation makes no sense to me. It's the one thing that I hate about programming

parseInt()?

I would do x | 0 but I get the feeling that I'd get yelled at

11:28 PM
That's the REALLY long way to do it

@quartata do that
its fastest way

@Downgoat All right.

How inefficient is parseInt?

Pretty slow.
At least, relative to a bitwise operator

11:29 PM
@quartata its also good idea to use that when casting from string to integer
the interpreter optimizes |0 very well

wat

I'd hope it would. It's one instruction.

LOL
I'm liking Qwerp-Derp over DerpfacePython

@ReleasingHeliumNuclei such wat

But for some reason my name here is still DerpfacePython

11:30 PM
did it work
na

@DerpfacePython It shows the name from your parent profile, which is still set to SO on your chat profile

You can change your chat profile to show PPCG as your parent profile, then your name will show up in chat as the PPCG name

Okay, I'm back as none special character Beta Decay
Well I will be when my chat profile reloads

@βετѧΛєҫαγ :D :D :D tyvm

11:32 PM
@Downgoat Haha no problem
I couldn't stand it either

@ReleasingHeliumNuclei yah

@Downgoat I tried refreshing your profile but you still have the dream version on your chat profile

11:35 PM
did it work
nah

Now, @ConorO'Brien let's talk about quines ;)
Thanks tricho BTW

@BetaDecay oh yeah I still haven't posted it yet

@trichoplax can you try to refresh it now?

@BetaDecay I didn't need to do anything for yours - it already showed in latin letters :)

Oh right haha

11:37 PM
The stealthy mod strikes again!

@Downgoat Done :)

@ConorO'Brien Haha it's fine. I'm just rep whoring because I lost a lot today

@trichoplax :D tyvm!

Wait, does that mean I literally ninja'd trichoplax? :P

@BetaDecay oh what happened?

11:37 PM
@El'endiaStarman It's not difficult :P

Q: Outputting x to y

Beta DecayChallenge You must choose one number x (y = x + 9) and create ten unique programs which each print out one of the numbers in the range x to y inclusive. However, there are three twists: Each program's score is the difference between length of your program in bytes and n (where n is the number ...

@El'endiaStarman For one, @trichoplax is a turtle

@trichoplax No, I mean, I refreshed Beta Decay's chat profile, but totally stealthily. So I beat you to doing it and I was like a ninja in doing so!

I feel like I have -15 tattooed on my forehead, reading Optimizer's latest edit :D

11:38 PM
@El'endiaStarman Ah I see - ninja in both senses... I just meant that being faster than me isn't a challenge...

@BetaDecay I think a general rule of thumb is: Should I write a trivial challenge and try to make it interesting w/ restricted source? -> No

Haha yeah I guess so

Mathoverflow's design scars my eyes every time i look at it ;___;

@Downgoat Mathoverflow just melts my brain

11:42 PM
Did you notice they appear on the HNQ but they don't have the HNQ on their site

My eyes don't get a chance to be scarred

@trichoplax
The MathOverflow people didn't want the HNQ sidebar.

I know - it wasn't a complaint :)

they also don't have meta links :/

Hm, I think I just got a sympathy upvote. If it was any of you, here, please don't use your upvotes like that :)

Q: Let's improve the leaderboard snippet

Agent CrazyPythonThe leaderboard snippet could use some improvements. Improvements usually fall into three categories: Formatting & CSS - make it look better Functionality - stuff it should do Misc - everything else Please answer with suggestions. I've added a few myself.

</self-promotion>

This is quite a curious game: Hexplode.

> Times New Roman is pretty ugly
;_;

@uoɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC the graduation userscript has a better leaderboard which you can try out.
^^ not good idea to diss a font the whole world uses

@Downgoat it's da web

@ReleasingHeliumNuclei it is.

11:58 PM
@El'endiaStarman I wonder if that could make a good KotH?

Oooh, definitely.
