I just realized there are no ads in chat :D

@Optimizer Flagged as spam

> Don't change horses in mid stream; on election day, re-elect the president!

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ You might want to update your answer.

9:05 PM
yeah

Also, for some reason, I was just logged out from chat.

coz you have ad-blocker
our sponsors don't like that.
Elon Musk has invented a way to log you out .
but, then you get logged back in coz logging is reusable now.

Who is Eon Musk?

the real Ion Man

Meh.

so the space x rocket landing reference was not funny enough?

Steve Feldman on February 9, 2016
What’s the deal with ad blockers?

oh, is that what you were trying to say?

@Optimizer no.
It wasn't.

9:08 PM
@Optimizer It's not, because at the current state, this exception is eternal.

@LegionMammal978 updated.

:(

@LegionMammal978 So SE is gonna implement ad-blocker-blockers

No.
They won't, that's the point.

@Optimizer In Louisville, the water treatment plant completely purifies the water, and then adds some minerals or something like that back to it in order to give it a taste. People don't actually like 100% pure water.

9:12 PM
@El'endiaStarman In the UK, we have Smartwater.

@AlexA. Do you know Agalloch?

I do!

Oh, perhaps you showed them to me=)

I don't think so
I haven't listened to them in a really, really long time

I only have one album, which is quite different from the others (I do not like the others as much.)

9:16 PM
@El'endiaStarman not all mineral water have taste

Since you're the guitar specialist: Do you know what kind of effect they used for this singing/howling sound of the guitar throughout the whole album?

Do you know Deafheaven?

@El'endiaStarman but really, that was not the point. you cannot generalize that water has taste though

@Optimizer But you don't actually know what water that's totally taste-less is like.

No
(Don't tell me about more bands right now, I've just spend quite some bucks for the OMG albums=)

9:17 PM
@flawr In the beginning of the album at least that's an E-bow. It's a little thing that vibrates the strings continuously.
@flawr Oh but you need to listen to Deafheaven.

Oh right, I've heard of those devices.

The EBow or ebow is a brand name of Heet Sound Products, of Los Angeles, California, for the original type of monophonic handheld electromagnetic string driver, invented by Greg Heet in 1969, first introduced in 1976, and patented in 1978. The name Ebow stands for "Electronic Bow" or Energy Bow) (often spelled E-bow in common usage). The EBow is a battery-powered electronic device for playing the electric guitar. The EBow uses a pickup - inductive string driver - feedback circuit, including a sensor coil, driver coil, and amplifier, to induce forced string vibrations. The Ebow is monophonic, and...
They're neat

But still I think they are using some other kind of effect.

Sounds like reverb

Hm they do great stuff!

9:20 PM
It's worth it!
Come to the dark side, @flawr

have you heard of butterflies song?

@AlexA. I remembered this thing from here (WOTE)

the first digimon adventures opening song .. the guitar solo is really nice in it.

I noticed that from a bunch of bands I discovered in the last few years, I sometimes only really like one particular album, that has a totally different style than the rest.
E.g. Agalloch (Ashes against the Grain), Woods of Ypres (Green Album) e.t.c

lack of gust in music produces bad golfing ideas

9:25 PM
@flawr Do you know Baroness?

No

More required listening.

@LegionMammal978 try again:
0
A: Find the program that prints this integer sequence (Cops' thread)

Easterly IrkJolf, 12 bytes c*______w___ Examples: 1 -> 1 13 -> 1618033988749

@flawr Think of Deafheaven and Baroness as something you pass the time while you wait for the OMG albums to arrive :D

9:26 PM
Haha, thanks=)

Recently I hade a wave off non metallic music, but I keep coming back=)

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Hey, at least it's relatively unique

9:28 PM
listen to mine too, senpais

This video is not available.

._.

@LegionMammal978 My previous one? true. :P

9:31 PM
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Also, I believe that you mixed up the offsets.

What do you mean?

I can only find 2 sequences where a(0)=1 and a(12)=1618033988749

And none for 1 and 13?

i guess no one is a digimon fan.. everyone just went from a baby to adult ... -_-

9:33 PM
@LegionMammal978 yeah, i did. Fixing.

wat is a digimon?

@Optimizer I like digimon, but don't watch much.
Haven't seen it in ~3 years.

I heard of it once or twice

some kind of pokemon?

@aditsu like pokemon.
ninja'ed

9:34 PM
Never seen it, though

different, but same idea.

never seen pokemon either ^___^

now pokemon is copying digimon..
with temporary super evolutions

Is there any limit to number of characters you can hide in this challenge

9:35 PM
In Jolf, is there a function that takes the floor of its argument?

@TheNumberOne idts, but then they can find pretty much any program

@LegionMammal978 Haha easterly just asked me the exact same question
!]

@Optimizer That was in XY, right? That's been out for almost 3 years...

but I ninja'ed you with yourself

9:36 PM
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Ok, thanks :D
I was wondering because of this comment: codegolf.stackexchange.com/questions/77419/…

Anyone else doing codejam?

@quartata oh? well, haven't seen anything after 17th season..

Can't discuss solutions for another 4.5 hours
but just curious

I'm going to try to re-write Phigs in Perl.

code jam?
what's that?
I don't think that anyone here is doing that.

9:38 PM
programming competition by google

@LockOpeners What's your username?

registration and the qualification round is still on for 4.5 hours or so
I don't remember
let me check

what's google?

@LegionMammal978 * does that but if the string looks like an int it'll coerce

9:39 PM
I already finished all the questions btw

At least I think

@Optimizer google it

Hotkeys

what it?

I haven't bothered to do question 4

9:39 PM
@LockOpeners a lot of people are doing it.

@PhiNotPi good

@quartata I found another function

and my question 3 answer was way too slow for the large lol
and I don't feel like optimizing it

what it?

Optimizer doesn't know how to optimize
4

And also I'm using Perl 6 for the qualifier so that isn't exactly the fastest choice in the first place

He hides here not on CR, because he likes his username but doesn't apply it.

@LockOpeners So ... what is your username so I can see your times?

@PhiNotPi :(

9:42 PM
@quartata contrary to popular belief.. my code is so optimized from the beginning that I don't have to optimize it at all..

that sounds like premature optimization

hydroelectric child, that's some rekage

In that case you should change your name to Optimized, since you don't do any optimizing.

@Optimizer Then how come you optimized have out?

9:43 PM
@quartata ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

@AlexA. oh no

^
pls no creepy faces

@quartata i can guarantee that my optimizations last long enough!

@TheNumberOne Hotkeys

Alex always manages to turn every sentence I say into something creepy. He's got quite a knack

I did them really spread out
so my overall time isn't great

@quartata s/I say/said/

but individually are fine

Best explanation of transfinite ordinals:
Also, I love the variation on Cantor's diagonal argument.

@El'endiaStarman I tried counting past infinity once. I haven't gotten to infinity yet though.
2

9:47 PM
@AlexA. ʀᴏғʟ

@AlexA. keep going

@aditsu I haven't stopped

lol

It'd be a wasted effort otherwise

@AlexA. well, you know what? starting from the other side would be faster

9:48 PM
(there are 9 previous videos)

6:44:23, btw guys, for those of you who were wondering how long the video is. :P

That feeling when you bring your water glass into the kitchen to get water but end up just leaving the glass in the kitchen and coming back to your desk empty-handed.

rofl
that happens to be all the time. >,<

@El'endiaStarman That guy needs a hobby

9:50 PM
Do you not count that as one? :p

@AlexA. That is his hobby.

@AlexA. he aready has one

ninja'ed
TRIPLE NINJA!!!

He needs a better one

likw counting to infinity?
and beyond..
he's not Buzz Light Year!

9:51 PM
almost a ninja
I almost said that.

BLY?

Jon Skeet's infinite loops halt at infinity.

mine too

I tried to count to infinity once. I eventually wrote a program in java to do it. It got to infinity and back.

lol
did you have an InfinityFactory

9:53 PM
Are any of you guys even watching the Vsauce video? :P

Good god no

Chuck Norris can count to infinity in 6 seconds

Nah

> sauce video

Why would I watch a guy count?

9:53 PM
I already know math

that's not a vsauce video

You don't actually count past infinity. You just say "let there be a number greater than infinity and call it omega" and you've "counted past infinity". :P

lol

^ this is the Vsauce video.

lmao

9:54 PM
Oh that one

>40 is the biggest number
>on earth in terms of surface area

That was funny, yeah.

public class Infinity {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
        int i = 0;
        do {
            i++;
        } while (i != 0);
        System.out.println("Done");
    }
}

@TheNumberOne Jon Skeet ran that code and it printed Done twice!

@quartata I too like it.
