12:00 AM
So my server went down a couple days ago (I don't know why) and I finally got it back up... now I see a folder named "NetBoot", that I didn't put there, is that bad?

@QPaysTaxes I did not claim that. And again: Whatever floats your goat. There can never, ever be a general rule. And you shouldn't rely on one mans opinion. No matter who that man is.

@QPaysTaxes I am an upside down goat, yes
@Cyoce doesn't it make us all ;_;

@Cyoce TeaScript is two bytes though

@Cyoce pro tip: put the jelly in your mouth, not your eyes

12:02 AM
@Doorknob i tri but it always end up in my Iz. how eat jelly??

TIL rime is a formation of ice crystals forming on the windward side of an object

@LuisMendo Thanks! :)

@QPaysTaxes Well, regarding the general point he makes (which is a mistake on his part: generalizing) is that it's the single worst thing a company can do. I experienced the exact opposite three times in the last year or so (i.e. where a rewrite not only produced a much cleaner system from the let go, but lead to increased turnover in the following months).

@Downgoat teascript uses a builtin. jelly uses black magic.

when does it not

12:04 AM
@quartata oh, I'm glad you find it useful! :D It was kind of thrown together over a weekend, so feedback is welcome

@QPaysTaxes Turnover as in more profit. Of course, one doesn't have to 86 everything all at once. Rewrite the parts that need it.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha (re the discussion between @mınxomaτ and @QPaysTaxes about the Joel article).

Well, I'm .... glad we amused you?

@QPaysTaxes I've put an explanation in the other chat. :-P

12:10 AM
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ for what language is this?

@Cyoce My new one!

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ which is...? What's its purpose?

@Cyoce It's like J/APL/Jelly. And I'm calling it "Dyia" until I find a better name.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ is it designed for golfing?

@QPaysTaxes Yah
@Cyoce Sort kinda. In the sense that J is a "golfing language".

12:13 AM
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ call it K

@Downgoat That's already a thing

L?

@Downgoat J is already hard enough to google

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ +1 for freehand circles.

@QPaysTaxes Freehand™ Red™ Circles™

@QPaysTaxes if there were no freehand circles I would -1 no freehand circles

@MartinBüttner do you know of a mathematica function that takes a graph with weighted edges and plots the graph such that the edges with higher weight are closer together?

I know of lots of mathematics

™ is broken. help

@Cyoce -1 no red freehand circles. How am I supposed to know what to look at now?!??!?!
this is overwhelming

12:19 AM
CANNOT COMPUTE

_UNK?

@Downgoat He only wants Martin. Sheesh, don't intrude -.-

._.

12:21 AM
Hi guys

-_-

AND HI @QUART
I'm tired

Remember how apgsearch version 2 refused to compile for me?
Now the new version 3 isn't working either.

@SuperJedi224 hello
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ I prefer EIGHTHS over QUARTS

12:24 AM
@Downgoat Me too.

I swear, the worst part of language design is documentation

12:25 AM
@GamrCorps That is true.
What's wrong with ←?

@GamrCorps very true

@GamrCorps that and watching your language that you spent weeks on get instantly demolished by Jelly.

Someone please write Cheddar docs for me

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ larry?

I will pay you

12:26 AM
@HelkaHomba left arr
@Cyoce Me and Jolf
@Downgoat How much?

@Cyoce Me and TeaScript
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ 3 stacks of hay, and some cookies. (negotiable)

@Doorknob Yeah, it's super nice. You should add to the readme that you should do --config first though

@Cyoce me and PlatyPar

Hi @Gallontata

I'd say "me and Cinnamon Gum" except Cinnamon Gum tied with Jelly on a challenge so
Then again, Jelly wasn't made for strings

12:28 AM
@quartata O_o

Edit: :.r01+; is golfier

@Downgoat Tempting...

I think this is how Cheddar's Fibonacci would look:
f=>n n<3?1:f(n-1)+f(n-2)

that's way too long.

12:32 AM
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ golfed version of a <= 2
@Cyoce it's not a golfing language

@Downgoat oh right
@AlexA.

@Downgoat then it looks too normal. -1 for not being hard to understand

@Cyoce it's a normal language

@Downgoat we already have too many of those. weird languages are more fun.

we already have to many of those. normal languages are more fun

12:34 AM
we have too many of both. meta languages are more fun

If I ever finish Cheddar, I wonder if anyone would actually use it

:D

And +1 for using real italics _italics_

._. who thought Mersenne primes would be a good idea?? That seems like the most inefficient way to generate primes...

12:38 AM
? primes of the form 2^n - 1?

yeah

That's not a prime generation method...

well I know that

o--o
why are we posting tires ._.

12:42 AM
o---o
idk

wouldn't repeated multiplication of the next prime +1 be efficient?

2+1 = 3 2*3+1 = 7, 2*3*5+1 = 31 2*3*5*7=211

can someone tell me what this is:
/¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯\

12:44 AM
but where are the doors

|...|

@NathanMerrill those aren't guaranteed to be prime
are they?

@Doorknob but isn't that the proof that there's always a greater prime?

edit: golfier :,R1+;

12:45 AM
a.) it's a prime, b.) it's not a prime

:,R1+ (didn't need the semicolon)

> It is a common mistake to think that this proof says the product p1p2...pr+1 is prime. The proof actually only uses the fact that there is a prime dividing this product (see primorial primes).

@ChrisJester-Young ?
Oh

@Doorknob yeah, they are called the euclid numbers and E6 is not prime :(

@Downgoat Fun puzzle: find all positive integers a,b such that a^b-1 is prime

12:52 AM
@Sp3000 brb, posting challenge

@Sp3000 There are quite probably infinitely many solutions

Should probably say a,b > 1 else b = 1 is pretty trivial

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ do you mean bored?

@Downgoat kinda

12:59 AM
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ if you are bored you could always help me implement shunting-yard for Cheddar :3

@Downgoat I am good at that! I've done it twice
About to do it a third time with Dyia
Link?

Oh, right duh

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ what language is that? is that the new one?

@Cyoce That's Jolf.

1:02 AM
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ I should have known from its unique nonsensical syntax.

@Cyoce o_o
What is that supposed to mean?

Its syntax is no different from Pyth...

Which is pretty readable if you know what you are doing imo

1:06 AM
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ ^

np

@Downgoat cheddar c9 link?
I can't find it... :(

Goodbye for now

@QPaysTaxes can i be a collab on the desert survival project?
:D

@SuperJedi224 bai

wtf @QPaysTaxes iz borked

See the new issue.....
The thing turns blue. Night maybe?
Needs work, i can't read it....

(KeyboardFire is me ;) )

@EasterlyIrk I'd show you a screenshot of it on my terminal but I'm having issues with gnome-take-screenshot

@quartata use scrot :)

1:41 AM
@Doorknob 6/10 I prefer Keyboard Ice

@quartata Can you see it?

@EasterlyIrk Yes it looks beautiful

@Downgoat hydroelectric child, you just rekt him bad

@Doorknob Why does your post's score show as a dot on the subreddit homepage?

1:43 AM
@NinjaBearMonkey I dunno, Reddit is weird

s/weird/garbage/

but but /r/nethack and /r/lojban :D

@Doorknob are you trying to prove Alex's point? :P

Oooooooooh shit, son!

oh hydroelectric!

1:45 AM
I haven't browsed Reddit in a long time

@QPaysTaxes Makes sense. And now you're addicted to PPCG!

Can someone explain to me what part of the Shuting-Yard algorithm means?:
If the token is a left parenthesis (i.e. "("), then push it onto the stack.
If the token is a right parenthesis (i.e. ")"):
Until the token at the top of the stack is a left parenthesis, pop operators off the stack onto the output queue.
Pop the left parenthesis from the stack, but not onto the output queue.
If the token at the top of the stack is a function token, pop it onto the output queue.
If the stack runs out without finding a left parenthesis, then there are mismatched parentheses.

@QPaysTaxes ...why?

^

@Downgoat What part is confusing?

1:49 AM
TIL garlic can turn blue

all of it

When they say "pop onto the output queue" they mean "move it to the output queue"
"Pop but not onto the output queue" is just remove it

I know that much

user image

All of the garlic can turn blue

but when does the stuff in the brackets come into the stack

1:50 AM
roflmao

Do gardens onebox?
@Dennis No.

@Dennis no.

@QPaysTaxes What show?

@EasterlyIrk thanks I didn't realize that

1:51 AM
@EasterlyIrk ninja'd eleven

@Downgoat When you encounter an operator it gets put on the stack.

@Doorknob @Doorknob is @Dennis.

Is there something special you have to do to get the people?

nope

Bathe

1:52 AM
@NinjaBearMonkey Yellow light I think

I got one in blue/yellow mixed.
Note: not green, it isn't greenish..

Also keep in mind this'll generate postfix expressions

@HelkaHomba Can != should

You have to do it a little differently to get prefix expressions
Don't quite remember

1:53 AM
@AlexA. huh?

@NinjaBearMonkey Yellow light I think

Two separate conversations

still sounds weird.

One involving a goat the other involving a monkey

1:53 AM
oh

@Maltysen "Is there something special you have to do to get the people?" Yes, you have to bathe. You can't get people without cleaning yourself occasionally. :P

still is weird.

oh lel

@ChrisJester-Young Already been there and read it :)
@QPaysTaxes Huh, never heard of it.

1:54 AM
;-)

@AlexA. its an anime

@Maltysen Probably why I haven't heard of it then. :P

Would you guys get Google Fiber if you could? (1000Mbps for $70/month)

Gee I haven't watched a lick of anime in my life (except for Pokemon) and even I know what One Piece is. Get your act together @AlexA.

1:56 AM
^

@HelkaHomba Hell yes.

@HelkaHomba absolutely but they don't offer it here

@QPaysTaxes meh

@HelkaHomba I'm currently wearing a Google Fibre t-shirt!

@HelkaHomba Yeah, particularly because that's only marginally more than I pay per month for my shitty Comcast service.

1:57 AM
@quartata Same (hint hint @Google)

@ChrisJester-Young Surely the shirt says fiber though? ;P
4

@AlexA. It does spell it the American way, but I refuse to.

@QPaysTaxes hahahahaha
