@AlexA. Oh trust me, being afraid of downvoting is not an issue I have. I just don't really see the point in downvoting something that is going to get quickly closed and roomba'd.

@AlexA. I'm assuming there's a distinction between "oh yeah I messed up, I'm gonna delete this question" a few times and "I'm going to delete every question I post with a negative score"
if I think it's a good question and it has some flaw that needs to be addressed I'm even more motivated to close it before it gets answers that exploit loopholes or are based on assumptions that haven't been given in the spec.

@cat Okay, I see that I wrote in the spec that the board will be 5N*5N, so if I want to restrict the total number of squares to 2^31-1, that means I have to restrict N to 9,268.
Given an approximation of the constant to 10000 terms, the first digit string not to appear within the first 3000 decimal places of the reciprocal is 102.
Do the mods actually mind if people skip the Sandbox? It seems to me like some do and I think I get a little bit annoyed when people do it, possibly on behalf of the mods, but then it seems like many mods and high-rep users don't care at a l l.
I don't think I've ever asked a well-recieved question anywhere on SE (not that I ask many at all) and my first post in the sandbox got me a proper going-over from an Actual Mod, so
@quartata Wait, sorry. I accidentally changed the wrong number literal in the code so we were still only looking at the first 500 decimal places. I've fixed it now. It turns out that 102 does, in fact, appear within the first 3000 decimal places. But 103 still doesn't.
And by 10k decimal places, every possible 3-digit string does, in fact, appear.
