For anyone interested, I have tweaked Conor's chat bot to do something... interesting whenever anyone stealth pings.

@AlexA. I just checked the pricelist. Sweet Jesus, that is a lot of moolah

ok

Yes, interesting is the right word.

@quartata [status-norepro]

@Optimizer Or those knobless flapping doors in the backs of grocery stores

@Doorknob ?

(do those have a name?)

10:02 PM
It's not a bug.

he stealth pinged

ok

nothign happened

^^ was a stealth ping

@Sherlock9 A single user license for SAS is $10k USD every year

10:02 PM
@AlexA. What's SAS?

What I do for work. PSA: Don't use it

What you're really paying for is the colors

@AlexA. that is cheap. One normal html+JS based charting library is 30K USD per year without support.

Look. :D

Oh shit, the sun's coming up again. And I was going to sleep early today

@Doorknob The bot isn't in the chat room.
Since no one likes it.

True that

If you want to try your stealth pings against my regex magic, we can duel in another room
@Doorknob lol

So LabVIEW should be invalid for answers, yeah? Since it's not freely available. (for >45 days, apparently)

10:05 PM
same for mathematica then

Also since apparently you can't even get it without Flash installed ಠ_ಠ

@Doorknob Riiight ¬_¬

@Doorknob Students can get it for free sometimes, depending on deals with the college

@Optimizer Isn't there a web thingy that lets you run Mathematica stuff for free?

I'm almost ready to post my Hexagonal maze challenge. If anyone sees a problem please let me know.

10:06 PM
@Doorknob 15 days free trial.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ I actually didn't :(

but I think recently they launched something..

@Doorknob Yeah there is now.

Martin will know.

LabView shouldn't be invalid though if it has a trial.

10:06 PM
@Doorknob Wait really? :/ who pinned your message?

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Someone who is not a PPCG mod. I'll leave it at that...

@Doorknob :/ you can pin something if you're not a mod?

No

@El'endiaStarman !!

(well, owners can too)

10:07 PM
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Mod from another site

Wasn't me either.

@Doorknob You mean like the wolfam notebook thingy?

@Calvin'sHobbies Ahhh
That's funny

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ not a*
Chris?

10:07 PM
@Doorknob Is that one of our policies?

I didn't even add my star until like two days later.

Or a SE employee

@AlexA. Almost certain.
looks for meta post

policy is "freely available"

Q: Untestable languages

GarethWhat is the general feeling about answer that can't be tested because no compiler or interpreter is available? The accepted answer to this question is a case in point. The question has been raised in the comments as to whether the answer actually meets the question's requirements, so I thought I...

10:08 PM
which should count trial in it

@Doorknob Where?

No idea, but I recall hearing about it

Oh, SAS has SAS University Edition, which is free. So I guess that still counts as legit? It's a huge pain in the ass to install though since it requires a virtual machine.

I say free trial languages are valid

I disagree
what happens when the trial is over

10:09 PM
We've always allowed proprietary languages

@Sp3000 Sp = Stealth ping?

@MartinBüttner did Mathematica launch a free online version recently?

Anonymous
@Doorknob Wasn't this only discussed in the context of CnR challenges?

@Doorknob Change your email address and IP and redownload. :P

Free trial languages should be invalid when a freely available language is specified by the question though.

10:09 PM
@Calvin'sHobbies he did it before it was cool banned

@Optimizer I heard something about that

@Calvin'sHobbies 3000 is a lot of stealth pings. No wonder they're banned.

someone here was talking about it

@Mego No. See the meta post I oneboxed up there. ^

A: Where to find an online testing environment for specific programming languages?

Peter TaylorMathematica / Wolfram Language Wolfram has followed Sage in creating an online notebook experience, and it has a free subscription level. This does require creating an account. Register here Returning users go here to create a new notebook. The UI currently requires you to enter the program ...

10:11 PM
Oh hey, Alex actually had a comment about SAS from a while back on that meta post
What do you do in the case of really hard languages like SAS or Stata where everything is proprietary with no equivalent of Mathematica's CDF? The only people who can really test answers in these languages are those with the products licensed. I would guess that the number of SAS and Stata users on PPCG is fairly small. — Alex A. ♦ Feb 10 at 21:45

I believe SAS University Edition was released after that comment.

and even then, using company's commercial license for private use should be against law..

SAS is a huge piece of shit though
(both the company and the product)

@AlexA. Watch as you interview for them in a few years and they find this comment ;)

@Calvin'sHobbies SAS is based in North Carolina, a place I will never move to. Also I wouldn't work for them anyway; I hate their product. :P
I say this, having been a professional SAS user for the past 4 years...

so what does a SAS/SAP certification mean?

It makes you a sap?

@Calvin'sHobbies You're certainly a sap if you think SAS is worth its price.

10:15 PM
on their linked in page. Not on them

I'm not familiar with SAS/SAP certification.

ok

I think it's unrelated to SAS the programming language/company/software though.

you OOOO4ed

10:17 PM
@Mego CnR? Sorry, still unfamiliar with the terminology and I forgot to read the meta post about terminology linked earlier

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ By the way Conor I've used your technology against you

@quartata Oh god

@Sherlock9 Cops and robbers

Caps and robbers?

10:17 PM
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Come into Stealth-pingers United! and you'll see.

@quartata Oh god no

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Made a golfing language and posted in it without a finished implementation? :P

You've doomed us all

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ YES

@AlexA. That part of it is stable.

10:18 PM
;)

@AlexA. Only control sequences are unstable
;)

quartata copy is here!

@quartata grumbles Fine. Link me?
Or that

Incidentally, does anyone have a link to that meta post about PPCG terminology?

@Sherlock9 It was deleted

10:20 PM
Aw darn

Questions and answers should have sufficient information to be understandable by people unfamiliar with the site, so a dictionary isn't a good solution.
Most of the PPCG slang is just in chat

Well then, let me ask here. Besides code golf, what the challenges in here? What are pop-cons, CnRs, KotHs?

@AlexA. Can we still see it? I'm curious

@Doorknob Thanks

10:22 PM
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Personally I'd recommend expanding the language first - you don't want to be updating the docs left right and center whilst it's unstable

@Sp3000 Good point. I'll refrain from answering. ;)

Do you have OSX? If so, paste this into a terminal: say -v Hysterical "hah ha ha haha ahhahahah haha hah aha ha ha haha ahhaha "

@Calvin'sHobbies Yes, with a permalink and sufficient rep: meta.codegolf.stackexchange.com/questions/7616/…

Don't do that unless you want your ears to hurt.

Don't do what, the OS X say thing?
Wait, quartatoes, are you a Mac user? (If so, did I already know that?)

10:29 PM
> quartatoes

@AlexA. No, but I used to be one.
A long long time ago.

@Doorknob quartater tots

@quartata I can still remember

@quartata What was the last version of OS X you used and why would you ever switch?

I'm Linux through in through now though.

10:30 PM
Once you go Mac, you don't go back.

lies

@AlexA. Jeez, I think it was Snow Leopard.
And I never really switched.
I used it alongside of Linux.

@Doorknob You only think it's a lie because you haven't been assimilated gone Mac yet.

all lies

@quartata Which Linux distro do you use now?

10:31 PM
I think I stopped using Macs when I noticed that Java 7 only works on Mountain Lion even though if you hack it to ignore the version requirement it runs just fine
I kinda thought that meant they did it on purpose to make people upgrade and got real mad.
@AlexA. Ubuntu Studio.

That's odd... I've had no such Java issues on my Mac. When I got it it was running Lion, and I've since upgraded to each OS through Yosemite, which I'm on now.
@quartata Oh right. Now I remember that I've asked you about 200 times now.

Might have been Lion, dunno.
Either way I was pissed because my little white MacBook couldn't update to Lion
and so I couldn't use Java basically

Aw, little white MacBook.

@AlexA. Yes <3
It's so cute.

Did that have a PowerPC processor or Intel?

10:33 PM
@AlexA. Intel Core 2 Duo
The first of that kind I think.

Oh, okay. I thought they went Intel when the bodies went aluminum.

@AlexA. Nope.
There was a time when they were plastic and Intel.

Well anyway, Macs rule all and I'm going to try to "work" for another 20 minutes before I go home.
<3

@MartinBüttner I had some reasons... e.g. you can concatenate it with numbers, and it saves more characters compared to the literal

What? It can't be done!

@Doorknob owwww!!! don't say that awful word!

10:39 PM
@Doorknob NI!

correct response was "Ahhh! Don't say that word!" :P
Have to go now. (Brave Sir Doorknob ran away...)

is happy to see the religious battle is Mac vs Linux. I guess there aren't really any other worthwhile OSes to talk about

@DigitalTrauma There aren't.

Linux always wins, let's face it.

windoze > mac :)

10:41 PM
But Mac is... okay.

@Doorknob I know. But I'm a newly improved Ni Knight.
I'm immune to that.

hello?

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ como estas?

Is there a closed-form formula for this sequence?

Heavily edited my Bernoulli answer

A: Bernoulli Numbers

Sherlock9Python 3, 258 255 194 bytes Implements a lookup table of the Bernoulli numbers and prints that table at the end. As far as I've checked, it's all accurate to 6 decimal places, though where B(m) = 0 for m >= 5, the precision gets pretty wonky. Edit: Changed the divisions since it's all floating-...

Now to bed

@TanMath Pourquoi est-ce que vous désirez savoir?

@TanMath I...I don't speak spanish

my Bernoulli number python answer is updated... Should I post as a new answer?

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Ça n'est pas une chose mal.

@quartata Oui, Je sais
;)

10:56 PM
Man, I wish there was a bonus for re-implementing combination(n,k)
@TanMath I don't see why not

@SuperJedi224 Considering that that's a really low number and there's no FORMULA entry, probably not.

the pinned message is indeed negative

@CSᵠ ?

I see.

@El'endiaStarman Can you pin my starred message ;D

@Calvin'sHobbies He won't sadly
I know this because everything I say is pin-worthy but he never pins it

wtf

@Calvin'sHobbies What starred message?
(And no.)

@CSᵠ I'm comedy gold, come on.
