These are for educational purposes only. Please do not serial upvote.
At least, not on the same person. :)

Language Log has a number of posts on the SAT.

As an aside, I think a lot of people refer to the test as "the SATs" in the plural.

That's right.
And for fair reason.
It’s because you take more than one SAT test and receive more than one score.

Thank you for the answers. Hmm. I found it on the intenet and confused. The whole context is as follows: there weren't as many people as Chinese who do the same. — huriru 1 min ago
A curious use of answers! (I think they actually meant comments.)

@DamkerngT. People outside SE have a hard time discerning between comments and answers. I've seen like it.

Could be.

This just occurs to me, between meeting participants and meeting attendees, which one do you think is more common?

Not sure, but I think participants is more common.

6:41 AM
Thanks!

@Maulik Yup. In fact, we have some meta posts that indicate how bad titles on ELL are. I believe some of that is because of lack of teaching. BTW, Maulik I guess you aren't featuring this? :/ I was hoping to see community input on this question. — inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M 24 secs ago
@Dam take a look at

I think he's considering it. I don't know if he knows how to feature it, though.
@inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M Neat! Thanks!

I'm too new to act this fast! @inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M will discuss with J.R. or Wendi and put this forward for sure. :) Good job, keep it up! — Maulik V ♦ 36 secs ago
That's a quasi-semi-relief.
Anyway, let's write the invitation meta post.
Hmm, I'm looking for a dramatic entrance. @Dam what should the title be? My first thought is
> Help help ELL titles be more helpful
Hmm, what about
> The titles are shouting your name
Hmm, that would need expansion.

How about: ELL titles'd like to invite you to... the first ever ELL titles meeting!

6:56 AM
That's straightforward.
I hate straightforward.
I need puns. PUNS.

Aww... I'm a straightforward guy. (sad)

PUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNSSSSSSSSSSZZZZZZ.

What's in the title? Can a title speak? A title is worth more than a picture...

@DamkerngT. It's my job to hallucinate/daydream like that.
We're gonna drown in titles the next few days.
I wonder, was my first punny title grammatically legit?
9 mins ago, by inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M
> Help help ELL titles be more helpful
Nah, it's too punny.
We need more straightforward.
@Dam I came up with this as the title:
> Title Cleanup Event - An invitation
Hmm, TCE is a good abbreviation.
BTW if @Snail and @TCh love small caps they must really love Kpfonts and not even know it.

I like meeting better than event, but the chat interface use the word event.
I'm off to some other stuff. BBL. o/

Ah, see you later!

Maybe I should answer something on ELL.
@Dam can you give me a question older than a month that needs a (good) answer so I can start writing something long for?

@inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M I think we have a lot of that.

@DamkerngT. I need to find somewhere to start.

(And then do an eyeball search for questions with fewer views.)
^fixed that for ELLers

@DamkerngT. There's a SEDE query for this.

Ah, that's another good way.

Q: Can I continue the sentences after as many as?

huriruPlease tell me the meaning of ” There aren't as many people as there are chinese who do the same" I can understand the sentence if noun follows like " there aren't as many people as China" Can I use sentences after as, and what the exact meaning of that?

This shouldn't be closed because of that reason.
Will it be worth fighting for?
> There weren't as many people as Chinese who do the same.
Hmm... is that grammatical?
Oh, it's a different sentence.
So, maybe the confusion is quite clear, but it's unclear what example sentence they really found.

Q: Can we use "much more superior"?

user124234 My game is much more superior to yours. Can we use much more in this sentence?

Thanks!

@DamkerngT. That'll get to at least +6.

As a HNQ, probably? :P

For it to become a HNQ, it'll need one more answer.

Oh, I see.

But no, because it's fresh.
And because you gave the main answer in the first two lines.
(Take a look at my attention span chart in the title FAQ)

11:52 AM
Ah, right! The first two lines thing is probably another main reason why my answers usually don't get many up-votes.

@DamkerngT. Oh, it might get to be a HNQ afterall.
You need two moar upcoats I guess.

Don't know. :D

You can see the hotness formula in meta.SE.

What do you mean?
I am saying my bosses are assholes

Sadly, some bosses really are. But only some of them.

@JudeNiroshan Oh, I thought you meant people in workplace.SE are jerks.

12:10 PM
Is it common that a young guy does not get any responsible work to do even after about working there nearly 1.5 years?

I was thinking some SE meta drama.
@JudeNiroshan Is that a rhetoric?

Well, I'm 16 and I prolly shouldn't answer that, but it seems like a big no.

Cos still i am the youngest

@JudeNiroshan I think yes, and no. Every job requires responsibility. But before giving a touch job to someone in your team, we'd want to be rather sure that they can pull it off. But age is not the biggest factor, at least in my experience.

12:14 PM
This is so awful than i ever thought
How a person could show that h3 has the knowledge without getting him any work to do. I can not go and ask for any work as they have not given me much work before. As a result i didnot have any hands on experience
And i am not a person who is trying to be highlighted unless natural way

I can't say for others, but I usually observe how people in my team do their work. I think we all do. It's quite common that the first few months can tell a lot. Your abilities, your characters, your attitudes, your skills, etc.

Yes i agree. I need next few months to go fast

@DamkerngT. Does your team have a chemical valued associate member?

@inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M Like a chem guy? I guess no, we don't have one. :D

Your work won't have any good results then.

12:23 PM
LOL
@inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M I think my post won't go network-wide because we already have one, but that's okay. ^_^

@DamkerngT. There's no correlation, AFAICR.

> You will become eligible for question migration paths with the rest of the network
Good thing that's never happened before.

@tchrist Considering that sometimes some guys send us crap, I think that's not gonna happen.
At most there's gonna be another meta post asking for "which migration paths are necessary?", then there's gonna be a response and the End.

I think you should use some sort of 3rd person form there.
Migration doesn't work, mostly.
Usually only when both mod teams agree is there much hope, if then.

Huh? (on another topic) I thought ELL's description wouldn't say speakers of other languages. I remember that native speakers and teachers are welcome too.
> English Language Learners Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for speakers of other languages learning English. It's built and run by you as part of the Stack Exchange network of Q&A sites. Do you want an ELL -> ELU migration path?
@inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M You. Would. Be. Surprised.

I think I've seen some examples that migrating from ELL -> ELU would be handy (and better for the question and the OP).

Well, you can look at the migration stats page.
ELU has like a couple years of questions on its meta asking for a migration path.
I’m concerned that this will just get people worked up.

I think if we do it moderately, it should turn out okay.
The most important thing, imho, is that all the mods on both ELU and ELL, have a clear and the same idea what should be on ELU and what should be on ELL.
And what falls into the gray area.
I don't know how often mods talk to each other.

That will take . . . work.
Once migrations start happening without explicit coordination between mod teams, I fear there will be friction.
I don't have time to make a meta post about this just right now.

2:26 PM
@tchrist That could be possible. I hope it won't come to that. How about the mods have a chat meeting somehow?

They have a room for themselves they can use.
But they can also coordinate in other ways.
That isn't really the issue. Or at least, not the main one.

nods

The main one is that having CV privs is not a good measure of being smart about migration.

Oh, right.

Right now, it’s mod-only, and even then there are rejections.
This will not improve once anyone with CV privs can migrate.
There will simply be more migrations.

2:31 PM
I think there's a motto around the network (I can't remember the exact words): Don't migrate crap.
I guess the rejected ones were likely not good questions on both sites.
Possibly those proofreading lookalike ones.

@DamkerngT. That's right. People will still do it.

Q: Should we have a migration path to ELL?

terdonI know that this has been discussed before but, at the time, it was not possible since ELL was still in beta. Now that it has graduated and has had its first mod elections and everything, it might be time to reconsider the question. If we do choose to have one, we should also set up some clear ...

Folks should read the linked-to questions, too.
Let’s try to keep the discussion constructive. I don't mean to aim that at you, understand; I’m not worried about that.

Hehe! I kinda know that. So, I'm not worried about that either. :D

4:49 PM
@tchrist I have tried my best. I have little doubt that the users of ELU will downvote my answer into oblivion, though.

@Catija Thank you. My own ill-developed feeling is that it is best to leave this to coordinated effort by the two mod teams.
That is, migrations.

@tchrist That is my preference, as well.

I simply don't trust users to do the right thing. Which is not something I am proud of.

Exactly. It's not nice... but it's the reality of the situation and I see it. I think that opening a migration path would cause a lot of issues between the communities and you mods on ELU are certainly active enough to handle any questions that deserve migration.

Hi @StoneyB. How are you? So we have a new mod on ELL I see.

@Arrowfar We do indeed; and I am happy to see an NNS in the position. I don't suppose it will actually make a whole lot of difference, but it gives us a little extra fillip of authenticity.

user116848
Yeah.

@Catija Well, right now you're +1. For some people it may be an uncomfortably blunt answer, but it's accurate!

@StoneyB :D Thanks

@tchrist I am of the same mind on both propositions.

6:13 PM
@StoneyB Just FAQ It
We may just have to let this play out until there is data. I don't mind being wrong about my pessimism.
I feel it’s time for the Meta proposal to block or popup on certain awful titles, like anything with both GRAMMA or GRAMA and CORRECT in it.

@tchrist Well, technically doesn't SE have to set up the paths? If so, they may refuse to implement it if there are sufficient quality arguments against the migration path.

@Catija Of course they might.
First the Community needs to decide what it wants, and then we can talk it over with the CMs.
Sometimes I wish there were cross-site dup-closing.
It might help if there were a sample slate of ELU questions that have not been migrated to ELL but which would be more reasonable there. — tchrist 23 secs ago

6:38 PM
@tchrist +1 There's a big difference between a) "This question doesn't belong on ELL" and b) "This question belongs on ELL". There's also a big difference between b) and c) "This user belongs on ELL".

Oooh meta talk.
Migration path?
Boooooo.
So @Stoney @TCh, who's for and who's against adding a migration path?
@tchrist I'm not sure it'll get enough traction now. :/
