On second though, it appears that question outdoors.stackexchange.com/questions/15062/… may be in violation of the basic truce between the advanced climbers who do not mock the newbies who rope up for class 3 and the newbies who do not mock the climbers who ascend 5.9 without a rope. :(

@Joshua I tried answering from a perspective of what could be considered dangerous, but yes it can be hard to find the balance of safety. I wonder what the posts that sparked the question said

Incidentally I've done that running belay. With only 2 snow anchors we had to reset it a lot but it still beats full belay.

It seems that I have been pedantically downvoted. However, I just hit the rep cap for the 3rd day in a row, so whatever. :) It cost them one point and me nothing :)

@mike4ty4 How do I do both programming and outdoor things? Honestly, I would rather do the outdoor stuff, but it doesn't pay. At the time of the pictures I was making $20 per day plus room and board, and the board was a literal boarded platform that we slept out on under the stars all summer long. I did attempt to build a DB system that would track their food usage, but it was never implemented.
@mike4ty4 Sometimes places like that need a high organized pendatic programmer to organize stuff and sometimes they need more people skills, which will get you into trouble if you see things in TRUE and FALSE. The people skills and the confidence that comes from being outdoors help with the programming and the high level of organization of programming helps with working outdoors
